Hanks & Wilson Sued Again by Former Contractor

Tom Hanks and his actress wife Rita Wilson have been hit with more legal action by their former contractor, in a dispute over work carried out on the stars' Idaho home more than five years ago. Building firm Storey Construction Inc. has been locked in a bitter legal battle with the couple over unpaid bills for building their Sun Valley house between 2000 and 2002. Hanks and Wilson refused to pay up for what they claimed was "substandard and defective work," and when the contractor entered arbitration in 2003, the Hollywood couple filed a countersuit, asking for $800,000 in compensation for the allegedly unacceptable work. But the actors' suit was thrown out of court and they were ordered to pay up more than $1.2 million. However, they have since re-filed for arbitration, upping their compensation claim to $2.5 million. But on Friday, Storey Construction filed a countersuit, accusing them of being "motivated by revenge" following the success of the firm's previous arbitration ruling. The new legal documents also describe Wilson's "bizarre conduct" at the 2003 arbitration hearing, during which she "leaped from the witness stand and started screaming hysterically" before she "stormed out of the hearing room," reports Tmz.com. The company is asking a judge to dismiss the Hanks' new compensation claim.

Cohen Retires Borat

Sacha Baron Cohen has ditched his hapless alter-ego Borat following the phenomenal success of movie Borat: Cultural Learnings Of America For Make Benefit Glorious Nation Of Kazakhstan. The British comedian scored an international smash hit with the 2006 film, in which his seedy Kazakhstani journalist made fun of unsuspecting members of the American public. But Cohen has decided to officially retire Borat - because the character is now so well-known, he'll never fool anybody into believing he's a real person again. Cohen says, "When I was being Ali G and Borat, I was in character sometimes 14 hours a day, and I came to love them, so admitting I am never going to play them again is quite a sad thing. It is like saying goodbye to a loved one. It is hard, and the problem with success, although it's fantastic, is that every new person who sees the Borat movie is one less person I 'get' with Borat again, so it's a kind of self-defeating form, really."

Alba Denies Wedding Reports

Pregnant actress Jessica Alba denies reports she is to marry boyfriend Cash Warren - because she does not want her bump to show in a wedding dress. The 26-year-old was rumored to be engaged to Warren after the couple announced they are expecting their first child next summer. But a source close to the couple denies the reports, telling Usmagazine.com, "She doesn't want to be pregnant in a dress." Meanwhile, Alba's brother Josh tells the publication the family is looking forward to her having a baby, adding "We're all thrilled for them." Alba and Cash, 28, have been dating since meeting on the set of Fantastic Four in 2004. The couple reportedly split up earlier this year citing their hectic work schedules, but got back together soon after.

Timberlake Turns Stuntman for Super Bowl Ad

Pop superstar Justin Timberlake has turned stuntman - he will be seen flying over the hood of a car in a new Super Bowl commercial for Pepsi. The singer will appear to take a big hit in the new ad, which will debut during the Super Bowl in February. He'll also be dragged along the street on a car door. Timberlake is just one of a host of stars set to make Super Bowl XL II a glittering affair - Will Ferrell and Carmen Electra are also due to appear in commercials during the telecast.

Playboy Calls on Curvy Love Hewitt

Actress Jennifer Love Hewitt has turned down an offer to pose nude in Playboy magazine, according to U.S. reports. The Ghost Whisperer star impressed magazine bosses with her recent response to weight issue reports and they approached her with a view to baring all in an upcoming issue of the publication. But newly-engaged Love Hewitt chose not to get naked. The actress' publicist tells the upcoming issue of In Touch Weekly magazine the star was "flattered" by the offer, but turned it down. A friend of the 28-year-old says, "She's pretty conservative, but is very proud of her body." Love Hewitt made headlines earlier this month when she responded on her blog to unflattering vacation pictures of her in a bikini, which prompted some tabloids to poke fun at her figure.

Spears To Give Deposition in January

Britney Spears has been ordered by a judge to attend a new deposition meeting in the new year. The troubled pop star skipped a previous child custody-related meeting at her ex-husband Kevin Federline's lawyer's Los Angeles office earlier this month, blaming her no-show on an anxiety attack. But according to new legal papers obtained by Tmz.com, Spears has now been told by L.A. Commissioner Scott Gordon to sit for her deposition in the first week of January - or face the consequences. The singer is currently locked in a battle with Federline over the custody of their two kids, Sean Preston, two, and Jayden James, one.

Parker: "I'm Too Old for Fashion Following"

Actress Sarah Jessica Parker is "too old" to suffer for fashion - and no longer attempts to keep up with her Sex And The City-dictated high-fashion wardrobe. The 42-year-old, who is currently filming the big-screen adaptation of the hit TV show, admits she's nothing like her alter ego Carrie Bradshaw, and isn't afraid to embrace casual clothing. She says, "Often, I'll go to the market and women will say, 'Let me see your shoes.' And then I show them I'm wearing flip-flops. I say, 'I'm old now. I can't run around in heels when I go to the market for my son's yogurt."

Van Halen & Bertinelli Finalize Divorce

Rocker Eddie Van Halen and actress Valerie Bertinelli are officially divorced. The couple, who wed in 1981, are no longer husband and wife, according to court papers filed in Los Angeles. The legal documents, released on Friday, read: "The parties have resolved all their issues amicably in mediation. Neither spouse shall take unfair advantage of the other spouse." Bertinelli originally filed for divorce in December 2005. The couple has a son, 16-year-old Wolfgang, who is currently on the road with his father's reunited band, Van Halen, having replaced original bassist Michael Anthony.

Simpson's Film Flops in Texas

Jessica Simpson's new film Blonde Ambition made less than $400 when it opened in eight Texas theatres on Friday . The movie, which also stars fellow Texan Luke Wilson, was saved from the straight-to-DVD tag by film bosses at Nu Image and Millennium Films, who decided to give it a limited Christmas run. The executives were hoping the fact that both Simpson and Wilson are Texas natives would help give the film a boost, and possibly lead to more interest from cinema chains across America. The film will now be released on DVD in January, as expected.

Reid Puts End to Bali Collapse Rumors

American Pie star Tara Reid has put an end to speculation over her shock collapse at a Christmas party at the weekend. The party-loving actress was taken to a local hospital in Bali and treated for cuts and bruises after a mystery fall. But while the internet was flooded with allegations of a drug overdose, Reid is adamant the incident was perfectly innocent. She tells MSNBC's The Scoop, "I slipped at the pool and saw a doctor but I'm fine." The 32-year-old was in Bali after a promotional tour of Australia, where she hosted the Hooker's Ball in Darwin at the beginning of December.
