Stars' Seaside Retreats Threatened by Malibu Wildfire

Seaside celebrity enclave Malibu Colony in California has been ravaged by a fast-paced wildfire, which broke out early on Sunday morning. The blaze has already claimed an animal hospital and landmark buildings Hodge Castle, which was reportedly once owned by Bob Dylan, and Malibu Presbyterian Church. Locals are mourning the loss of socialite Lilly Lawrence's castle home - because it included a private museum featuring letters from Grace Kelly, Princess Diana and six U.S. presidents. More than 500 firefighters were battling the blaze Sunday night, but Los Angeles County Fire Department Inspector Sam Padilla admits the fire is far from under control. Residents of Malibu Colony were evacuated to nearby Zuma Beach as the wildfire threatened their homes. Built in the 1930s, the cluster of luxury homes that is Malibu Colony has been a favorite of celebrities over the years. Director and producer James Cameron and actress/singer Olivia Newton-John have been evacuated according to local news, and there are many homes in the Malibu area which are imminent danger. Linda Ronstadt, Larry Hagman, Jeff Bridges, Mel Brooks, Sting, and Bill Murray are among the other stars who reportedly own and rent homes in Malibu Colony. In January, a smaller fire hit near the Colony area, and claimed the oceanfront home of actress Suzanne Somers. Malibu fires in November, 1993 destroyed Sean Penn and Ali MacGraw's homes, and came close to claiming estates owned by Mel Gibson and Richard Gere. Students at nearby Pepperdine University have also been evacuated from their rooms to a campus cafeteria. The wildfire is expected to blaze throughout Sunday and Monday as hot weather and heavy Santa Ana winds marked the height of traditional wildfire season after one of the driest rain years in Southern California on record. Arson experts have already started to investigate the cause of the fire.

Britney Wins Back Right To See Kids

Britney Spears has won back the right to see her sons after complying with a court order, according to reports. The troubled pop star was spotted driving her sons Preston, two, and Jayden James, one, through Studio City, California on Saturday in her white Mercedes convertible decorated with pumpkins on the dashboard. An unnamed individual - presumed to be a court-appointed monitor - was seen in the front seat and the children were in the back seats reports People.com. Spears was devastated when her visitation rights were temporarily suspended last Wednesday by Los Angeles County Commissioner Scott Gordon, after she breached a court order by failing to provide the court with her contact information. But her visitation is believed to have been reinstated after the singer complied with the request. Spears and her ex-husband Kevin Federline are both required to appear for their next divorce hearing on October 26.

Harry Potter's Dumbledore Is Gay

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix author J.K. Rowling has shocked fans of the boy-wizard series by stating that character Albus Dumbledore as gay. The writer revealed the truth of the Hogwarts school headmaster's sexuality at New York's Carnegie Hall on Friday as part of her American book tour. When asked by an audience member if Dumbledore had found "true love," she replied, "Dumbledore is gay," adding he was in love with his rival Gellert Grindelwald, who he once beat in a battle between good and bad wizards long ago. She says, "Falling in love can blind us to an extent. (Dumbledore was) horribly, terribly let down."

FBI Raid Copperfield's Warehouse

FBI agents have seized almost $2 million in cash in a raid on a warehouse owned by magician David Copperfield, following an investigation in Washington. Federal agents from Seattle raided Copperfield's Las Vegas warehouse on Wednesday. A computer hard drive and a memory card from a digital camera were also seized during the raid. Robbie Burroughs, spokeswoman for the Seattle division of the FBI, confirmed out-of-state officers traveled to Nevada after a tip-off, but refused to state the reason behind the raid. She says, "The only thing we're confirming right now is that there was some investigative activity in the Las Vegas area (on Wednesday) connected with a Seattle-area case, both of which are pending." Copperfield's lawyer, David Chesnoff, says, "We understand there is an investigation, (we) are in touch with the investigators, and are respecting the confidentiality of the investigation." Forbes magazine claims the warehouse, located in an industrial section of the city, is rarely seen by anybody other than magic scholars. According to the U.S. magazine, the storage place contains "an Ali Baba's trove of sports cars, vintage automatons, gargoyle heads, gadgetry and an electric chair," as well as 80,000 books, illusions, posters and memorabilia.

Winehouse Arrested in Norway

Amy Winehouse has been arrested on suspicion of possession and import of marijuana in Bergen, Norway. The British singer, 24 - who is currently on tour in the Scandinavian country - was arrested along with her husband Blake Fielder-Civil at the Hotel Norge on Thursday night, after local authorities were tipped off by staff about the smell of marijuana coming from their suite. The police raid found seven grams of the drug in their hotel room. The singing star and Fielder-Civil have now been released after each being fined 500 euros. Lars Morten Lohte, an attorney for the Bergen police, says, "She spent a few hours in custody from Thursday evening to early Friday, she got a fine and then she was released. The case is over for us."

Witherspoon Denies Romance with Gyllenhaal

Reese Witherspoon has hit out at rumors she has been romancing Rendition co-star Jake Gyllenhaal. The pair have been photographed enjoying each other's company on numerous occasions, but Witherspoon - newly divorced from Ryan Phillippe - insists their relationship is purely platonic. Walk the Line Oscar winner Witherspoon says, "I have known Jake for years through different friends and he is just wonderful. He's very kind, generous and funny. It's been nice these past days to laugh a little bit. Yeah, he's great and I look forward to maybe making another film with him."

Censors Slammed for Release of 'Eastern Promises'

British censors have been criticized over their decision to allow violent film Eastern Promises starring Naomi Watts and Viggo Mortensen to be screened uncut. The David Cronenberg film centers on the Russian mafia in London, and includes shocking scenes including one in which a knife is twisted into a man's eye and two victims have their throats cut in graphic detail. The scenes were so gruesome that members of the audience at the premiere last Wednesday at the London Film Festival gasped and turned away from the screen. Now the decision by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) to award the film an 18 certificate without any cuts has come under fire from former censors. Andreas Whittam, former president of the BBFC, says, "If I thought this was the type of film that was likely to make people leave the cinema, or even make them have to look away for quite a while, then I would question why the scene should be left in." But the BBFC stood by the decision, a spokesman adds, "Scenes that make people turn away are part of the fun of going to movies. These days we are not here to cut; we are here to provide information and let people then make up their minds."

Kid Rock Arrested in Waffle House Fight

Kid Rock has been arrested in Atlanta in connection with a fight at a waffle house, according to U.S. reports. Rock, real name Robert Ritchie, and five members of his entourage were each taken into custody on a misdemeanor charge of simple battery. Police say the 36-year-old rapper/rocker stopped by a restaurant in the early hours of Sunday after his band's Atlanta show that night, and a male customer recognized a female in Rock's entourage. Words were exchanged, and a fight ensued. After cops were called, the singer's tour bus was pulled over, and he and the members of his entourage were arrested. In addition to Rock's arrest, the male customer also has been charged with a felony for allegedly smashing a window of the restaurant. According to American website Tmz.com, Kid Rock posted bail and was released Sunday evening from DeKalb County jail, signing autographs on his way out.

Former 'Lost' Star Rodriguez Passes Drug Test

Former Lost star Michelle Rodriguez has submitted herself for a drug test - so she can prove to the media she's not a cocaine user. The actress was furious after blogger Perez Hilton accused her of snorting cocaine during frequent bathroom trips at a Hollywood party they both attended last weekend. And to prove she was clean, Rodriguez immediately requested a drug test. Tmz.com reports the actress was tested for methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana, opiates, alcohol and other things on Monday. None were detected. A pal tells the website, "She is not a drug addict and she doesn't even drink anymore." Since the test, Rodriguez has jetted off to New Zealand to film James Cameron's Avatar. She is due back in Los Angeles in December, when she will serve 180 days in jail for violating her probation. She'll serve her time at Lynwood Jail, where Paris Hilton spent 23 days earlier this year.

Parton Pays Visit to Wagoner

Dolly Parton has visited her former mentor Porter Wagoner in a Nashville, Tennessee hospital, and pledged to sing with him upon his return to the limelight. The Nine To Five star - who was a frequent collaborator of Wagoner's - went to be by the country music icon's bedside on Friday, where he is battling for his life against an undisclosed ailment. And Parton, 61, urged Wagoner to keep fighting the illness so that they can grace the stage at the Grand Ole Opry together when he pulls through. Jessie Schmidt, spokeswoman for the Opry, says, "(Parton) told him she'd be back to see him again, and would sing with him the first night he returns to the Grand Ole Opry. (He) had his wits (about him) and joked around." Wagoner was hospitalized last year after suffering a stomach aneurysm.
