The American Pie beauty, 31, insists she is a reformed party girl and is no longer prepared to risk her career, insisting her work comes before her social life. She says, "I think the reason I never ended up in as much trouble as Paris or Lindsay seem to is that I'm not stupid, so I'd never do a lot of the things those girls do, and I've always had good friends around me. They need to straighten up a little bit and make better investments. And they should surround themselves with better people who don't let them get themselves in trouble. You'll never read a story about me going out and partying when I'm supposed to be working. Nor would I show up on a set drunk or miss a day's work - never."

Julia Roberts was mortified when she realized she'd have to don a bikini for a swimming pool scene in new film Charlie Wilson's War - because she was four months pregnant with her third child Henry. The actress had hoped the revealing scene would not be necessary, or that a double would strip down on her behalf - but instead she had to "suck it in" and grin and 'bare' it. The Mona Lisa Smile star says, "I was so pregnant then that I was really hoping that they would let me out of that scene."

Britney Spears was involved in another fender bender as she arrived at a Hollywood party over the weekend. The clumsy singer, who still faces a hit-and-run charge for leaving the scene of a parking lot prang in August without addressing the owner of a vehicle she hit, reversed into a paparazzi's car while trying to park on Saturday night. Learning from her last accident, red-faced Spears tracked down the owner of the car she bumped, stating, "I'm stupid, I'm sorry... I'm a horrible driver." She then joked, "Are you going to sue me or something?" but the forgiving snapper just shrugged off the incident and told Spears, who was wearing sunglasses on a dreary Los Angeles night, "not to worry."

Blondie star Deborah Harry has hit back at reports she's unhappy with the casting of Kirsten Dunst in a forthcoming biopic of the singer, admitting the two stars have met and chatted about the project. Dunst dealt with the initial internet criticism she received when she was first cast in the Michel Gondry film by stating Harry actually chose her for the role, and inviting unhappy Blondie fans to "take it up with her." But subsequent reports have suggested Harry was far from happy with the idea of Dunst playing her. Now the punk icon has spoken out about the fuss, telling Spinner.com she has given the actress her personal blessing. She says, "She's (Dunst) a really sweet person. I've met with her a couple of times and hung out with her socially. She's just a sweetie. She's probably capable of a lot of things she hasn't been asked to do yet, and doing something that's sort of left of centre would be great for her."

Socialite Paris Hilton has denied reports she's dating Kid Rock. The hotel heiress and Rock were spotted partying in Toronto, Canada over the weekend, leading to ridiculous speculation they are an item. However, a spokesperson for Hilton says, "She went to his show in Toronto with some friends and to the after-show party. They are absolutely not dating." Earlier this month, Rock's ex-wife Pamela Anderson wed her third husband Rick Salomon, best known for "starring" alongside Hilton in her notorious sex tape. Rock, meanwhile, is currently dating Scandinavian model May Anderson and hotel heiress Hilton is romancing Swedish model Alex Vaggo.

The driver responsible for the car crash which killed filmmaker Bob Clark was sentenced to six years in prison on Friday. Hector Velazquez-Nava was jailed in a Los Angeles court after pleading no contest to two counts of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. Prosecutors claim Velazquez-Nava was drunk when he steered his sport utility vehicle into the wrong lane of Pacific Coast Highway in April, striking Clark's vehicle. The A Christmas Story filmmaker and his son, Ariel Hanrath-Clark, 22, died at the scene. Mexican Velazquez-Nava, who was found to be three times over the state's legal alcohol limit at the time of the incident, gave his sympathies to the director's family as he was sentenced. He said: "I want to ask for forgiveness to the families of the persons who died in this accident. I feel very sad about what happened. It was never my intention to harm anyone. It was simply an accident."

The Sopranos star James Gandolfini has been forced to pull out of an upcoming appearance at a party fundraiser for U.S. presidential candidate Senator John McCain, citing a "scheduling conflict" for the cancellation. The Emmy Award-winning actor was expected to be the special guest at Republican McCain's New York event on October 30 - but Gandolfini insists his decision had nothing to do with his own political affiliations. A spokesperson for Gandolfini tells PageSix, "At this time, Mr. Gandolfini is not committed to any one candidate. James respects Senator McCain for his (army) service and his commitment to our country. However, due to scheduling conflicts, he cannot attend the event."

British actress Rosamund Pike will marry Atonement film director Joe Wright next May, according to reports. The pair - who met on the set of period drama Pride And Prejudice two years ago - got engaged at at Lake Como in Italy on the eve of the Venice Film Festival last month. A source tells British newspaper the Daily Mail, "Rosamund is obviously very excited. She and Joe want to get married in May in England."

Grey's Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo was stunned to be recognized by fans of the hit TV show while holidaying in Italy. The 37-year-old actress, who plays Meredith Grey in the drama series, was unaware the show was so popular outside America. She tells People.com, "They're quite surprised to see me there. They just can't believe I'm in Italy. It's sort of out of context for them. They say 'Meredith! Meredith! It's you, Meredith! Oh my God, could it be Meredith?'"

Ugly Betty star Vanessa Williams has signed a $20 million deal to front a cosmetics company. The actress, 44, will endorse products for skin care giants Proactiv for five years - and will also have the chance to add her own creative flair to the line. A source tells New York Post gossip column PageSix, "She is going to be developing a cosmetics line for the company."
