Spears Loses Custody of Her Sons
Britney Spears has lost physical custody of her sons. Los Angeles County judge Scott Gordon ruled minutes ago that Sean Preston and Jayden James's father Kevin Federline will retain full custody from October 3. The news comes after Federline's lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, presented his client's case in Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday morning. Reports suggest Kaplan raised concerns about Spears' qualities as a mother after she was spotted driving without a license over the weekend while her children were in the car. Insiders claim Kaplan also brought up Spears' driving without a license charge from August 6, when she was involved in an alleged hit-and-run motoring offence after crashing into a parked car in the San Fernando Valley. The emergency hearing lasted an hour and took place behind closed doors. The shocking outcome follows two weeks of bizarre Spears behavior, which includes sightings of the pop singer partying and sobbing in the street, and an incident where she invited a member of the paparazzi to join her in a sandwich shop toilet in Los Angeles. Judge Gordon initially ruled the couple would continue to share custody for the duration of their new court battle. Meanwhile, Spears could face more legal trouble if she fails a court-ordered, random drug test, administered twice weekly.
Urban Blames Paparazzi for Motorcycle Crash

Singer Keith Urban has blamed the paparazzi for causing him to fall off his motorcycle. The music star, who is married to Nicole Kidman, had been riding his bike in Sydney, Australia to an AA meeting on Monday, when the crash happened. He says, "Today's incident was the result of one person's desire to do his job and my desire to maintain my privacy. Some have already attempted to inflate the facts, but the reality is this; while out riding to an AA meeting, a time when my privacy is especially important to me, I felt myself being pursued. I sped up, and in an effort to elude an oncoming car, which was making an illegal U-turn, saw no choice but to drop my bike. In actual fact, my pursuer came to my assistance, without taking photos, and helped me from the road. I returned home, got my car, and continued on my way." Urban checked into the Betty Ford Clinic in California last year after confessing he'd relapsed in his efforts to beat alcoholism.
Affleck: "Lopez Relationship Damaged My Career"

Dating Jennifer Lopez was bad for Ben Affleck's career, according to the Hollywood star himself. Affleck and Lopez's romance hit the headlines between 2002 and 2004, and the couple was engaged when they split. Both blamed excessive tabloid coverage for the separation. And Affleck, who now has a daughter with wife Jennifer Garner, believes the unwanted media attention surrounding his romance with Lopez resulted in studio executives taking him less seriously in Hollywood. He tells American magazine Details, "It was probably bad for my career. What happens is this sort of bleeds over from the tabloids across your movie work. You go to a movie, you only go once. But the tabloids and internet are everywhere. You can really subsume the public image of somebody. I ended up in an unfortunate crosshair position where I was in a relationship and (the media) mostly lied and inflated a bunch of salacious stuff for the sake of selling magazines. And I paid a certain price for that."
Pitt Speaks Out About Paparazzi Irritation

Hollywood superstar Brad Pitt has dubbed the paparazzi "the defining annoyance of my life." Pitt has spoken out about his life amid the flashbulbs, admitting all the attention he and his family has to deal with has left the four kids he and partner Angelina Jolie share confused about life. And the actor worries about the effect constant exposure to the paparazzi will have on them. He says, "I just think how strange it is for my kids. Mad (Maddox), Z (Zahara), Pax - they really believe that every time you go outside there is a herd of people with cameras snapping flashes in your face, who are going to block your way when you're trying to get somewhere. That is their vision of the world outside. Very strange, isn't it? It's an everyday thing for them. They don't really see it as bad or good. Z will point and go, 'Cameras!' Pax will point and say, 'People!' Maddox is keen to where his parents are coming from. I don't want them to be tensing up, and I don't want them to see of feel any kind of threat. But man, when photographers cross the line, you know - if it happened to one of your kids, it's hard not to want to take them down."

Brody's Near-Death Experience in India

Actor Adrien Brody almost died during a night-off from shooting new movie The Darjeeling Limited in India last Christmas, when he had an unexpected encounter with a low-hanging power cable. The Oscar winner had been enjoying a mountain ride on the back of a pick-up truck when he suddenly had to fight for his life. He says, "We had this wonderful dinner together. The whole cast and crew ate in front of a fireplace and we went out in these ox carts. It was really beautiful. On the way back, the oxes had gone home and I hopped a ride on the back of a pick-up truck and was riding back with my girlfriend. It was such a beautiful, wonderful night and I was looking in her eyes, standing on the back of this pick-up truck and a low-hanging power line went under my neck and caught me in the neck. I had this North Face jacket on and managed to get it out from under me. I literally almost died on Christmas last year looking into my girlfriend's eyes. It was so profound, the moment was really beautiful and I survived it and that was a gift."

Mirren Attacks Female Fashionistas for Size Zero Problem

Actress Dame Helen Mirren has launched a scathing attack on the fashion industry's size zero craze, putting the blame for the "horrifically thin" models on female fashion editors. The Academy Award winner, 62, had first hand experience of size discrimination when she took her niece, an aspiring model, to several booking agencies - only to be told she was overweight. And Mirren insists it is all down to senior fashion writers and editors. She says, "I blame my own sex vehemently on this. It is women who run the magazine and women who editorialize and women who make the decisions. I think it is completely iniquitous to have incredibly skinny girls on the runway. A lot of the girls are horrifically thin and of course they have a problem. Mostly, the fashion industry chooses to turn a blind eye."
