Elle Pulls Interview "Out of Respect" for Wilson

U.S magazine Elle has pulled an interview with Owen Wilson out of respect for the troubled star. Wedding Crashers star Wilson was reportedly found by his brother Andrew at his home in Santa Monica, California on Sunday, with sources claiming he cut his wrists and took a number of pills. He was taken by ambulance to the emergency room at Los Angeles' St. John's Hospital at midday on Sunday, and was later transferred to Cedars Sinai. But Roberta Myers, Elle's editor-in-chief, says an interview with Wilson conducted earlier this month will not appear in the magazine's December Hollywood issue. She explains, "Obviously the circumstances have changed significantly. When we were to be on the newsstand with the story, it would have been quite dated. Obviously, he's not going to update it for us. Out of respect for his privacy and anything he is going through, we're not going to run the piece."
Coogan Hits Out at Reports He's Responsible for Wilson's Decline

British funnyman Steve Coogan is taking swift legal advice after he was accused of providing Owen Wilson with the hard drugs that sent the actor spiraling to an all-time low. The Life Aquatic star is now recovering from the confirmed suicide bid at Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center as speculation about his mental state circulates through the world's media. And now Coogan has been dragged into the controversy after Fox News claimed friends of Wilson's were blaming the actor's Night At The Museum co-star for getting him into drugs. The news report features a quote from Courtney Love, who reportedly dated Coogan. She says, "I tried to warn Owen... I hope from the bottom of my heart that Owen stays the hell away from that guy." But Coogan insists he's innocent to the charges he aided Wilson's decline, stating, "These accusations are unfounded, unhelpful and hurtful to all concerned." The Brit adds, "We are taking legal advice."
Lohan's Father Permitted Rehab Visit?

Troubled actress Lindsay Lohan has agreed to let her estranged father Michael pay her a visit in rehab, according to reports. The Georgia Rule star is currently seeking counseling at a Utah clinic, but has given the green light for a visit from her dad - with her mom Dina allegedly lifting a restraining order which was placed on her ex-husband Michael earlier this year. A source tells the New York Post, "It was actually her (Lindsay's) younger brother, Michael's, idea. It's a part of the healing process. Lindsay will see him later this week, but she will have counselors with her. It will not be alone. Dina thinks it is a good idea. Lindsay needs to deal with this and needs closure." A spokesperson for Dina and Lindsay confirms, "Yes, he will be seeing his daughter."
Cruise's United Artists Debut To Open Los Angeles Film Festival
Tom Cruise's first movie under his new United Artists moniker has been selected to open the upcoming AFI Los Angeles International Film Festival. The movie mogul became a partner in UA last year after he was unceremoniously dumped by Paramount boss Sumner Redstone over public comments he made about Scientology. Cruise stars in political thriller Lions For Lambs - the first production for the new-look United Artists - which will premiere at the film festival on November 1. The film, directed by Robert Redford, also stars Redford and Meryl Streep.
Howard Saved Choking Reporter's Life
Hustle & Flow star Terrence Howard can add lifesaver to his resume after stepping in to help a choking journalist in a restaurant. The movie star was dining with Los Angeles magazine writer Margot Dougherty at the Four Seasons Hotel when she began choking on a piece of sushi. Howard, recalling a Heimlich maneuver scene in Mrs. Doubtfire, calmly took charge of the situation, folding his arms around the reporter and pumping her stomach to remove the blocked fish. Grateful Dougherty says, "He wraps his arms around me from behind, makes a fist at my solar plexus and gives two quick tugs. Bingo, I am breathing." When the gasping journalist asked her lunch guest how he learned about the Heimlich manoeuvre, the actor said, "I saw it on Mrs. Doubtfire. She saved Pierce Brosnan."
Witness: "Hogan's Son Was Racing Another Car"

Wrestler Hulk Hogan's teenage son Nick Hogan was racing another car moments before he lost control of his own vehicle and crashed into a tree, according to a witness. Frances Vitalis, who was riding a motorcycle with a friend behind the two cars, claims the drivers were revving their engines and racing between each set of traffic lights on the road in Clearwater, Florida on Sunday night. Vitalis says, "We knew something was going to happen. You know that this is a bad situation and these guys are hotdogging." According to website Tmz.com, police officers have interviewed the driver of a silver Dodge Viper that may have been involved in the accident. Local law enforcement officials have so far only confirmed Hogan's son Nick was driving a Toyota Supra at high speed when he lost control and struck a palm tree. Nick and his friend John Graziano were flown by Medivac helicopters to a hospital in St. Petersburg. Nick, also known as Nick Bollea, has since been discharged after being treated for minor injuries, but Graziano remains in a critical condition. Nick has been caught speeding three times in the 12 months before Sunday's accident.
Hayek: "I'll Be a Working Mother"

Heavily-pregnant actress Salma Hayek has ruled out moving to Paris to become a housewife after she gives birth to her French fiance's child - she wants to continue working at her production company in the U.S. instead. The Frida star is due to give birth to her first child with partner Francois-Henri Pinault any time now. But despite impending motherhood, Hayek plans to keep herself busy professionally by working on new projects with her Ventanarosa Productions business partner Jose Tamez. She says, "I'm going to stay (in the U.S.) and run this company. I could just say I will give it all up and be a housewife in Paris. But I said, 'No.' I was so lucky because I found myself a man who is a great businessman. And he loves it that I work this hard. He has a lot of respect for what I do."
Brown Fights Houston Over Custody Issues

R&B star Bobby Brown has lashed out at his ex-wife Whitney Houston for attempting to "eliminate" him from their teenage daughter's life. The couple split last year and seem to have ended a brief friendship, which saw them dining together for Houston's recent birthday, over child custody arrangements. In declarations filed this week, and obtained by Tmz.com, Brown states, "Since Whitney has been awarded sole legal and physical custody of Bobbi Kris, she has attempted to eliminate me from Bobbi Kris' life." Brown claims he went out of his way to look after his estranged wife and their daughter when Houston was undergoing rehab for a drug abuse problem in 2006, but feels the singer is being far from generous when it comes to the time he spends with the teen. He adds, "I did all I could to see my daughter. I also paid approximately $10,000 for Whitney and Bobby Kris to live in a nice hotel while Whitney was going through rehab. I basically lived in my car. I have not seen or spoken to my daughter since early June and I have no prospect of speaking to her or seeing her anytime soon due to Whitney's actions." Houston has responded swiftly, stating, "We have a daughter together and I would like him to be involved in her life."
Braxton: "I Don't Have Cancer"

Soul singer Toni Braxton has hit back at U.S. tabloid reports she's battling breast cancer. The singer has issued a statement dismissing rumors that surfaced in the National Enquirer last week and spread online. Braxton writes, "There has been a rumor circulating that I have been diagnosed with breast cancer. After feeling something uncomfortable in my left breast, I went in for a screening. I was very fortunate that they did not find anything and I am in great health." Braxton has chosen to take the high road on the hoax health crisis, hoping the shocking story will persuade women who have been holding off cancer checks to get serious about the disease. She adds, "I encourage women to take their annual tests and suggested precautions to prevent this disease that continues to affect so many women."
Hynde To Sue Handbag Maker?

Rocker Chrissie Hynde has threatened to mount a lawsuit against a handbag maker after they used her name to promote a leather bag. Animal rights campaigner Hynde has branded the decision by trendy holdall designer Hogan to name a new ponyskin handbag in their rock chick-inspired collection 'The Chrissie' "outrageous and thoughtless." She tells The Scoop, "I never thought I'd be moved to consider filing a lawsuit, but as soon as I heard my name was being used to promote bags made of dead-animal skin, I started exploring my legal options with my friends at Peta (People For The Ethical Treatment of Animals) At first, I thought this must be a joke, it's so outrageous and thoughtless."
