Owen Wilson Hospitalized
Wedding Crashers star Owen Wilson was rushed to the hospital Sunday afternoon from his home in Santa Monica, California, amid rumors published by the National Enquirer and Star magazine that the actor had attempted suicide. An ambulance was called to Wilson's home shortly after noon on Sunday, and he was initially admitted to St. John's Health Center before being transferred to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. The transcript of the 911 call, as well as the circumstances surrounding it, have not been officially released. However, the National Enquirer reported on its web site that Wilson was discovered by a family member after taking an "indeterminate" amount of pills and slashing his wrists, and that his condition at the time was "very serious." Neither Wilson's publicity representatives nor his family have commented on any aspects of the reports being published, though Cedars-Sinai confirmed through a spokesperson that Wilson was being treated there and was now "in good condition." On Monday afternoon, Wilson himself released a brief statement through his publicist, stating, "I respectfully ask that the media allow me to receive care and heal in private during this difficult time." Wilson, who received an Academy Award nomination for co-writing The Royal Tenenbaums with director Wes Anderson, is starring in Anderson's next film, The Darjeeling Limited, currently set to be shown at the New York Film Festival in late September. --Mark Englehart, IMDb staff

Winehouse Denies She Was Attacked by Husband

Troubled star Amy Winehouse has denied she was savagely attacked by husband Blake Fielder-Civil after the couple were photographed covered in blood and scratches. Shots of the singer sporting several bandages on her arms and walking in blood-splattered shoes with a scratched Fielder-Civil by her side appeared in Friday's British newspaper The Sun. But the hitmaker denies she was involved in a fight with her husband-of-three-months, insisting he "saved my life" after he caught her taking drugs with a female sex worker. She tells showbiz blogger Perez Hilton, "Blake is the best man in the world. We would never ever harm each other. I was cutting myself after he found me in our room about to do drugs with a call girl and rightly said I wasn't good enough for him. I lost it and he saved my life. I'll be alright. I need to fight my man's corner for him though. For the last time he did not and never has hurt me. He deserves the truth, he is an amazing man who saved my life again and got cut badly for his troubles. All he get is horrible stories printed about him and he just keeps quiet, but this is too much." Winehouse recently collapsed following three days of hard partying and was admitted to a London hospital. Reports have since surfaced she allegedly suffered a drug overdose.
Writer Sues Disney Over 'Hannah Montana'

A comedy writer is suing Walt Disney claiming he was the brainchild behind hit TV show Hannah Montana. Buddy Sheffield filed the lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court on Thursday alleging breach of contract, breach of confidence, unfair competition and unjust enrichment. Sheffield - who has written for The Smothers Brothers Show and Dolly - claims he pitched an idea for a television series called Rock And Roland to the Disney Channel in 2001. According to the lawsuit, the story was about a junior high school student who lived a secret double life as a rock star. Sheffield claims Disney plagiarized the idea for their show Hannah Montana and is demanding a share of the revenue. Disney bosses were unavailable for comment.
Burton's Ex Ordered To Revise Lawsuit

Moviemaker Tim Burton has won the first round of a court battle with his ex-girlfriend - a judge has ordered she revise her suit. Actress Lisa Marie Smith, who has appeared in a string of Burton's films as well as dating the director for nearly 10 years, claims he cheated her out of assets they promised to share together. She sued Burton in December alleging she was tricked into signing a contract with the filmmaker giving up the right to make further claims to his fortune. She also accused a lawyer of secretly acting on Burton's behalf. However, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Teresa Sanchez-Gordon said there wasn't enough evidence in Smith's complaint to support her claim Burton used fraud to cheat her out of assets. She has 10 days to revise her suit. Burton maintains Smith was given $5 million to sign the contract, which released him from any further claims to his assets. He added if she wanted to rescind the deal she must return the money.
Lohan's Sister Denies Car Crash Story
Lindsay Lohan's sister is laughing off reports she was involved in a car crash last week Friday night, insisting the media has made something out of nothing. American magazine In Touch Weekly broke the news about the incident on Thursday, claiming the accident happened after 13-year-old Ali Lohan sneaked out of the family's Long Island, New York home to meet up with her 16-year-old boyfriend. But the Lohan family's publicist, Leslie Sloane, insists that although there was a car accident, the rest of the story is all wrong. Sloane tells Tmz.com, "I just got off the phone with Ali. She was never in the car." The publicist insists the boy driving the car was someone Ali knew from school - but he's not the teen's boyfriend. According to reports, the unnamed boy had taken the car without permission, picked up Ali Lohan and crashed.
Animal Rights Activists Bark at Foxx Over Dogfigthing Comments

Animal rights activists have lashed out at Oscar winner Jamie Foxx after he spoke out in defense of dog fighting ring leader Michael Vick on TV. The American football star has admitted to funding a dogfighting operation as part of a plea agreement to lighten a possible prison sentence. The disgraced Atlanta Falcons quarterback has also revealed that "collective efforts" by him and two others caused the deaths of at least six dogs. News of Vick's plea agreement, which he will officially file in a Virginia court on Monday came a day after Miami Vice star Foxx's ill-advised comments about the controversy. The actor told U.S. TV news show Access Hollywood, "It's a cultural thing... I used to see dogs fighting in the neighborhood all the time... Mike probably just didn't read his handbook on what not to do as a black star. I know that cruelty to animals is bad, but sometimes people shoot people and kill people and don't get time... I give Mike the benefit of the doubt." Foxx's comments have enraged People for The Ethical Treatment of Animals president Ingrid Newkirk, who has blasted the actor for attempting to justify Vick's sordid secret life. She fumes, "It is cheap and dirty and wrong to call this a cultural thing, unless Foxx believes that cruelty is a black thing - when it isn't. It may be his thing, but it is not a black thing." Vick, who was bombarded by animal right protestors when he arrived in court on Friday, faces 12 to 18 months in prison for his part in the illegal dogfighting ring.

'Dallas' Swaps Directors
Gurinder Chadha has pulled out of directing the big screen version of 80s TV hit Dallas, to be replaced by Betty Thomas. Plans to adapt the hit TV soap into a full-length film, starring John Travolta and Luke Wilson, fell flat earlier this year when Jennifer Lopez quit the project amid script and directorial issues. First Robert Luketic was attached to direct; before Bend It Like Beckham filmmaker Chadha took over. Chadha took a break from the film to give birth in June - and now won't be returning, reports Variety. The Brady Bunch Movie director Thomas has taken over, and plans to turn Dallas into a comedy, starring Meg Ryan as Sue Ellen. Travolta is reportedly still onboard to play oil tycoon J.R. Ewing in the film. It is not known if Wilson (Bobby Ewing) and original castmate Shirley MacLaine (Miss Ellie) are still involved. Filming is set to begin in January.
Khan Jailed After Appeal Rejected

Troubled Bollywood star Salman Khan was arrested in Jodhpur airport, India on Saturday after his appeal against his five-year jail sentence for killing an endangered species was rejected by a court. On Friday, a Jodhpur court denied the actor's appeal against a 2006 court ruling that sentenced him to jail for five years for poaching a chinkara - an endangered species of gazelle protected under wildlife laws - while shooting a film in India's Rajasthan state in September 1998. On Saturday, Khan flew from Mumbai to Jodhpur to surrender himself to local authorities, but was arrested in the airport lounge as soon as he landed. After appearing before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Ravi Sharma, Khan was sent to the city's Central Jail. Khan is hoping to appeal the ruling and is expected to seek bail next week. The Straight From The Heart actor, 41, was visited in prison on Sunday by his girlfriend Katrina Kaif, his brother Arbaaz and sisters Alvira and Arpita. The star is also facing trial in Mumbai for his alleged role in a 2002 hit-and-run case. Khan faces 10 charges, including causing death by negligent driving which carries two years in prison.
