Lohan Checks Into Rehab

Lindsay Lohan has reportedly checked into rehab in Utah. The actress, who disappeared from the limelight following her second drunk-driving arrest in three months in July, has entered the Cirque Lodge alcohol rehab in Sundance, Utah, according to U.S. sources. The facility is the same intense rehabilitation program both David Hasselhoff and Mary-Kate Olsen used to help them battle abuse issues. The Lodge was recently named one of the best rehabs in America by Town & Country magazine. This is the third rehab facility Lohan has checked into this year after stints at Wonderland and Promises in California. The 21-year-old star is facing two misdemeanor charges of suspicion of driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license as well as two felony charges of possession of a controlled substance and bringing contraband into a custody facility. Lohan was arrested in Santa Monica, California on July 24 after the mother of her former assistant alerted police to the fact the frantic actress was chasing her through the streets. A breath test was conducted at the scene and Lohan's blood alcohol level is said to have been well over the legal driving limit.

Rock Not the Daddy

Funnyman Chris Rock has lashed out at the woman who went public with claims he was the father of her teenage lovechild, after a DNA test proved the comedian is not the daddy. Rock has been keen to keep his comments to himself ever since Kali Bowyer accused the comic of fathering her 13-year-old son earlier this year, but now he has released a statement after test results proved Bowyer picked the wrong man to go after. In the statement, signed off by Rock and his wife Malaak, the couple states, "Though we prefer to keep our private life out of the media, we feel that it is necessary to respond to the many grossly inaccurate media reports that were sold to the tabloids by Kali Bowyer who falsely claimed that Chris Rock fathered her 13-year-old son. After multiple lies, including that Chris refused to establish paternity and after finding out that Ms. Bowyer has an extensive criminal record, we personally asked the court to help us establish paternity so that we could put this harassment to rest. We have spent a tremendous sum to litigate this case and are asking our attorney to pursue all legal remedies against her (Bowyer). Additionally, we would like for any monies Ms. Bowyer has taken from the tabloid media, based on this false story to be donated to charities for the benefit of disadvantaged boys and girls. We also express our deepest prayers for the welfare of Ms. Bowyer's son who has been continuously embarrassed and exposed in the media by his mother... We are happy that this has come to an end." Rock has been married to Malaak for 11 years. The couple has two children.

Bergman Archive Issues Plea for Funding

Officials at the Ingmar Bergman archive in Sweden have issued a plea for funding just one week after the legendary director died. The Persona filmmaker, who passed away on July 30, age 89, wrote his notes on paper so thin it's impossible for archivists to look through them, which is proving to be a major headache for those protecting the movie mogul's legacy. Although the Swedish government provides the archive with an annual grant of two million kroner ($250,000), officials claim they need a further 4.8 million kroner ($600,000) to digitize Bergman's papers. Archive spokeswoman Astrid Soderberg-Widing tells trade paper Daily Variety, "I think we will be able to keep the archive and webpage running, but to digitize the archives, we need at least another $600,000. It's an international scandal that the Swedish state does not seem interested in providing the money we lack."

Richards "Disgusted" at Sheen's Legal Action

Actress Denise Richards is "disgusted" with ex-husband Charlie Sheen's plans to take her to court over parental rights of their two children, insisting he is simply acting out of spite. The Platoon star wants more relaxed visitation rights with his daughters Sam, three, and two-year-old Lola, as he is currently only allowed to spend time with them under supervision. But Richards is furious with the timing of Sheen's legal action. She tells the New York Post's gossip column Page Six, "This is disgusting. He is doing this now because he's not happy with me and the custody arrangement. My mom is going through chemotherapy and I asked Charlie if my mom could see the kids before she got really sick. That's a valid request. He doesn't stick to the schedule he has with the kids - that's not my fault." Richards and Sheen divorced in November 2006 after a turbulent three-year marriage. The actor is now set to wed 29-year-old real estate investor Brooke Mueller.

Seymour Sued for Party Plans

Veteran Bond girl Jane Seymour is facing court action from neighbors furious with her plans to host all-night parties at her English country mansion. The Live and Let Die actress has transformed historic St. Catherine's Court near Bath, England, into a party venue, and hopes to hire out the stately home to revelers during the months she and producer husband James Keach are living abroad. The couple has lavished $700,000 on renovating the property since buying it in 1984, and it has become a recording base for a number of top British rock groups. But now Seymour is determined to turn her English home into a high society party palace, although obtaining a 24-hour alcohol and entertainment license for the mansion has been met with opposition from people living nearby. Members of St. Catherine's parish council insist revelers and delivery drivers are blocking lanes with traffic, and they're taking Seymour and Keach to court in a bid to overturn the license. The council's chairman Ian Plaister says, "Anger and frustration about the way in which the owners and management of St. Catherine's Court have chosen to impose a commercial business on local people with no consultation and explicitly against their wishes leaves residents with no choice but legal action."

Farrow Offers To Swap Places With "Imprisoned" Rebel

Actress-turned-activist Mia Farrow has offered to swap places with a respected Darfur rebel in the Sudan, so he can receive much-needed medical treatment. Sudan Liberation Army (SLA) Humanitarian Coordinator Suleiman Jamous was moved without permission to a United Nations hospital in Kordofan 13 months ago. Jamous is in need of a stomach biopsy, but the operation cannot be performed at the site. Farrow, who is a goodwill ambassador for children's agency Unicef has pleaded with Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir to exchange her freedom for his medical treatment. In a letter to al-Bashir, she writes, "Before his seizure, Mr. Jamous played a crucial role in bringing the SLA to the negotiating table and in seeking reconciliation between its divided rival factions. I am therefore offering to take Mr. Jamous's place, to exchange my freedom for his in the knowledge of his importance to the civilians of Darfur and in the conviction that he will apply his energies toward creating the just and lasting peace that the Sudanese people deserve and hope for."

Blanchett Stops Washing Her Hair

Oscar winner Cate Blanchett has stopped washing her hair in an effort to do her bit to save the environment and become a green example to her kids. The actress admits she has installed timers all around her home to restrict energy levels - and one is even on her shower head. Now she's no longer washing her hair, Blanchett has realised, "I only need to have a two minute shower." She adds, "I went to a website and my husband was laughing at me because a box arrived with 30 timers, and I thought, 'Excellent, stocking fillers!'" The Babel star has decided to do as much as she can to save energy after a recent visit to drought-ravaged Lake Samonsvale, north of Brisbane, Australia. She tells the Sydney Daily Telegraph, "I'm extremely concerned about climate change as a mother, because I want to ensure for my children a very safe and sustainable future. It's great to see my children engaged in these things, like when you put the water on when you put the toothbrush under the tap, you turn it off the minute you take it out and you don't let the water run." The Australian star has also limited her car use and has switched her household power supply to green power.

Trump Denies Offering O'Donnell a Place on 'The Apprentice'

Donald Trump has hit out at reports he offered TV rival Rosie O'Donnell a spot on his show The Apprentice. The pair have been feuding since Trump appeared on O'Donnell's former show The View - but it was recently claimed Trump had offered O'Donnell the chance to appear on his show, in a bid to mend their friendship. But the billionaire maintains the offer was never made - although he would love to have the chance to "fire her fat a**." He says, "No, I never offered Rosie a chance to be on The Apprentice. It's a good idea. Because I would fire her fat a**. She would definitely not last more than one show . . . I would love to fire Rosie, but I don't want her on the show. Everybody has been calling me and driving me crazy because they want to be on the show. We'll be announcing who we've chosen maybe over the next three or four weeks."

Brandy To Escape Prosecution Over Fatal Crash?

R&B star Brandy stands to escape prosecution on charges of misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter following a fatal 2006 car accident, if officials decide not to take the singer to court. Los Angeles authorities are reportedly "split" over the decision whether or not to force Brandy to take the stand while they await technical data to reveal how fast the singer/actress - real name Brandy Norwood - was driving when her vehicle hit 38-year-old Awatef Aboudihaj's Toyota Corolla on the San Diego Freeway in California on December 30, killing the other motorist. According to website Tmz.com, prosecutors will decide whether or not to press charges after receiving the information. If the case does go to court and Brandy is convicted, she faces a possible one year in prison and a $1,000 fine.

Hilton In Talks To Become Children's Hospital Ambassador

Paris Hilton is in talks to become an ambassador for the Los Angeles Children's Hospital. The 26-year-old is determined to follow through on her promise to do more charity work following her release from jail in June, and a recent visit to the hospital's children ward has inspired her to do all she can to help sick kids. Hilton says, "I went and visited the little premature babies who were only, like, one pound. And the cancer patients. It's nice when I can go there and visit them and brighten their day and make them smile. It feels good to be able to do that."
