Nielsen reluctantly checked into the Cri-Help facility on July 9. Insiders tell the publication Nielsen has been fighting a serious alcohol problem for years. She appeared drunk on American reality TV show The Surreal Life in 2005. A source says, "It took an ultimatum from her family to get through to Brigitte - either she gets help or she loses her loved ones' support." Cruise & Holmes Move In Next to Oprah
Tom Cruise and Katie Homes have added to the star power of California celebrity town Montecito by buying a $3.5 million estate there. The couple bought the three-acre property, with existing building plans for a lavish home, from Rob Lowe and his wife Sheryl, according to website CelebrityBabylon.com. The Cruises' new compound is just down the road from Oprah Winfrey's breathtaking $50 million home. Cruise made headlines with Winfrey in 2005 when he jubilantly bounced on the talk show queen's sofa after declaring his love for actress Holmes on her TV show. Montecito has long been considered one of California's celebrity enclaves - Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi, former Seinfeld star Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Kirk Douglas are among the stars who call the seaside town home. According to CelebrityBabylon.com, the property the Cruises have bought isn't much to look at now, but planning permission granted to Lowe means the couple can build a dream home on the site with few restrictions.

Usher Shutting Down Fansite?

R&B singer Usher is attempting to shut down one of his most popular fansites UsherForever.com, according to reports. The hitmaker is currently in discussions with lawyers to prepare a legal attempt to close down the fansite, run by Erika Jackson, according to the New York Daily News. The newspaper reports the site's webmaster isn't fond of Usher's fiancee Tameka Foster, who many fans have blamed for the firing of the singer's mother as his manager and the departure of his press representatives Simone Smalls and Chris Chambers. Usher recently sent an open letter to fans via America's People magazine, declaring, "Some media and bloggers have been totally intrusive, they have misconstrued aspects of my personal life and, because of this, my 'true' fans are not sure about what is fact and what is fiction. There is a difference in stating an opinion versus drawing a conclusion that is incorrect." Usher also defended his pregnant fiancee, adding, "I am happy, excited, completely clear and independent on my direction, feelings, decisions and I am not being led."
Cruz and Bardem: "Just Good Friends"
Penelope Cruz has laughed off rumors she is dating Spanish actor Javier Bardem, insisting the pair are just good friends. Since splitting with Matthew McConaughey in 2006 after a two-year relationship, the actress has been one of Hollywood's hottest bachelorettes, linked with Orlando Bloom, Josh Hartnett and most recently Bardem. The Spanish star hates talking about her personal life and rumors surrounding her, saying, "I don't read most of what is written about me." But she is adamant her relationship with Bardem - her co-star in an as-yet-unnamed Woody Allen movie - is platonic. She says, "It's not true. He's a friend and the best actor in the world."

Streisand Shocks Staff With Diva Demands
Barbra Streisand has shocked hotel staff in a top London hotel by issuing a long list of demands during her stay in the British capital. The diva is staying in a $12,000-a-night suite in the city's Dorchester Hotel, and has reportedly issued employees with strict rules - including a demand not to look the singer in the eye. A source tells London's Evening Standard, "We were given a list of requirements that had to be met. Her manager said she needed certain things to make her feel like she was at home. She is using her own security team and will hardly set foot in the main areas of the hotel. It is easy to enter and exit the hotel from her suite without ever being seen." A source from the Dorchester Hotel adds, "We are used to famous people here, but Miss Streisand is almost on a different level. Johnny Depp was here a few weeks ago, but was very low key. He just sat with friends in the bar. He was drinking a $1,200 bottle of wine, but he did not expect any special treatment. But we are expecting everything to be different for her." Streisand begins a series of live dates at The O2 in London on Wednesday

Wesbite Popcrunch claimed the engagement was kept a secret because of the failure of sister Jessica's marriage to Nick Lachey, which ended in divorce in 2006. But a spokesperson for Simpson tells UsMagazine.com Wentz and Simpson's engagement rumors are "absolutely not true."
