Chappelle Hospitalized for Exhaustion

American funnyman Dave Chappelle checked into a hospital this past weekend for exhaustion. The Chappelle's Show comedian, 33, was rushed to the emergency room of an unnamed hospital, where he remained for 12 hours before returning home. Earlier reports suggested Chapelle had suffered a drug-related medical problem and had checked into rehab, which his spokesperson has denied. His rep tells TMZ.com Chappelle was diagnosed with "physical exhaustion" and received "food, water and sleep" at hospital.

Baldwin Films Drug Recovery for News Special

Movie star Daniel Baldwin has opened up about his cocaine addiction in a series of confessional video diaries, taped for news special Primetime. The actor agreed to be filmed at various points during his rehab recovery at the Renaissance Malibu facility in California for the news show, which aired in America on Tuesday night. According to TV sources, Baldwin taped more than 20 video entries in the course of his three-month treatment. In one entry, Baldwin confessed, "I've been very thorough in my recovery, and identified where I am powerless... I'm truly powerless over cocaine. There's no question about that in my life." The actor added, "I want to get things fixed so quickly," but admitted he has now accepted that addiction will be a part of his life forever. He resolved, "I will never recover. I will just always be in recovery and stay sober, so I pray." Fighting back tears, the struggling actor, who has been battling addiction for 18 years, added, "I have such horrible feelings of guilt and shame when it comes to what I've done. I'm a die-hard coke addict. In one month I was up for 11 straight days without eating or drinking, except water." And Baldwin also recalled the night he feared his cocaine addiction would kill him: "I did a really big hit, as they call it, and I remember lying down, putting my head up and going, `God Almighty, imagine, I'm going to go in a hotel room.'"

Lohan Wearing Alcohol Ankle Bracelet

Lindsay Lohan has a new fashion accessory - an ankle bracelet that monitors alcohol intake. The actress checked out of rehab this past weekend after addressing her alcohol-related issues, but she has chosen to prove she intends to stay away from booze by monitoring her drinking. Lohan will voluntarily wear the alcohol-detecting ankle bracelet for the foreseeable future, according to the actress' publicist Leslie Sloane Zelnik. In a statement, Sloane Zelnik says, "In part she is wearing the bracelet so there are no questions about her sobriety if she chooses to go dancing or dining in a place where alcohol is served. Lindsay is working hard on her sobriety and we are all supporting her." Lohan checked into rehab centre Promises in Malibu, California at the end of May after she crashed her Mercedes Benz in Beverly Hills and was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Beckham's Galaxy Debut in Doubt

English soccer ace David Beckham's long-awaited U.S. debut this Saturday is in doubt as he struggles to recover from an ankle injury in time. The former Real Madrid player, wife Victoria Beckham and their three sons Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz, flew to Los Angeles last week to begin their new life stateside. Beckham was scheduled to join his new team Los Angeles Galaxy on Saturday, but he is yet to fully recover from an injury to his left ankle, which he sustained last month. The Los Angeles Times reports L.A. Galaxy coach Frank Yallop said Beckham's injury was aggravated during the 11 hour flight from London to Los Angeles. Beckham says, "Hopefully I'll be all right." Yallop explains, "There's always a possibility that he will not be playing because of his injury, but hopefully he will be. We're not going to force him to play. That would be wrong. If he's ready to play, he will, but we'll wait and see. We won't put him in any danger of making it long-term."

Moore Settles CNN Feud

Filmmaker Michael Moore has ended his feud with CNN after the U.S. news network admitted making mistakes in their coverage of his latest movie Sicko. Moore launched into an 11-minute rant on CNN show The Situation Room after host Wolf Blitzer and chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta highlighted alleged false information in his documentary. After the director vowed to CNN to "become your worst nightmare," the network released a statement, answering his accusations and admitting to making two mistakes. During Gupta's on-air report, he said Moore had inaccurately claimed Cuba spends $25 per person on health care. However, they have now admitted that his movie estimates Cuba's spending at $251 per person. CNN said a transcription error had lead to this mistake. In CNN's statement, a spokesman said, "It's ironic that someone who has made a career out of holding powerful interests accountable is so sensitive to having his own work held up to the light by impartial journalists, as we did in our examination of Sicko." Following CNN's statement, Moore is now willing to forget the fight and move on. He says, "I trust the intelligence of the American people. I don't think there's a whole lot more to do with this other than I and others are going to be a lot more skeptical with what I see on CNN. In the report they say that I fudged the facts and they didn't find a single fact that I fudged."

Ryder Embarrassed by Shoplifting Attention

Painkillers were to blame for Winona Ryder's infamous shoplifting controversy, according to the actress herself. Ryder shocked Hollywood when she was convicted of trying to steal clothing from the Beverly Hills, California branch of department store Saks Fifth Avenue in December 2001. But the Heathers star insists painkillers she was taking after breaking her arm were responsible for her bizarre behavior. Speaking to American magazine Vogue, she says, "Two months prior to that, I broke my arm in two places and the doctor was giving me a lot of stuff (Oxycodone) and I was taking it at first to get through the pain. And then there was this weird point when you don't know if you are in pain but you're taking it. Have you ever taken painkillers? It isn't a reckless (state) like you're out of your head. It's just confusion. The attention was what was embarrassing. It was the December after September 11th 2001. So much attention was being paid to me, when we had just been attacked, and there was all this really important news going on."

Benoit Had 10 Times Normal Testosterone Level in Body

Late wrestling star Chris Benoit had 10 times the normal level of testosterone in his body when he murdered his wife and son in June, according to investigators. The WWE fighter, 40, asphyxiated his wife Nancy and son Daniel on June 22 and 23 respectively, before hanging himself a day later at the family's home in Georgia. On Tuesday, the Georgia Bureau Of Investigation confirmed that Benoit's body contained testosterone, which he injected shortly before he died, the painkiller hydrocodone and anti-anxiety drug Xanax. However, Georgia's most senior medical examiner, Dr. Kris Sperry, pointed out there was no evidence to prove steroids in Benoit's system contributed to Nancy and seven-year-old Daniel's deaths. Sperry said, "An elevation of that ratio does not translate into something abnormal in a person's thought process or behavior." Daniel had been sedated with Xanax, while Nancy had Xanax, hydrocodone and another painkiller hydromorphone in her system. Benoit's physician, Dr. Phil Astin, has been charged with improperly prescribing drugs, including Percocet, Xanax, Lorcet and Vicoprofen between April 2004 and September 2005.

Hilton Returns to Recording Studio

Socialite Paris Hilton is returning to the studio to record her second album - just a month after she was dropped by Warner Bros. Hilton spent three years recording her self-titled debut album Paris, which hit stores last summer under Warner Bros. and the reality TV star's own label Heiress Records. Last month, Warner announced it had no plans to release another album by Hilton after poor sales of Paris. After her debut single "Stars Are Blind" reached no. 18 on the U.S. Billboard charts, her second single "Nothing in This World" barely registered on the charts, reaching No. 89 on the Billboard Hot 100 Pop Charts. Her LP vanished after a brief appearance at No. 6 on the Billboard album charts after selling 77,000 copies. Despite poor sales and a negative response from critics, Hilton is determined to keep on singing, saying, "I'm already working on my new record."

Mel B To Marry Film Producer

Spice Girls star Melanie Brown has moved on from ex Eddie Murphy and now plans to marry new boyfriend Stephen Belafonte. The singer has been dating the film producer since splitting from Murphy last year and confesses she is ready to wed for a second time. She says, "He's the love of my life and I am going to marry him." Brown, who was embroiled in a bitter lawsuit with Murphy over the paternity of daughter Angel Iris, says Belafonte has accepted the three-month-old as his own child. She adds, "Stephen's been a godsend. Eddie hasn't been in touch once since I had the baby, it's unbelievable. But Stephen has been a tower of strength." Brown married Dutch dancer Jimmy Gulzar in 1998. Gulzar is the father of her daughter Phoenix Chi, nine.

Stefani Sues Clothing Chain

Gwen Stefani is suing a U.S. retail chain claiming designers copied her heart trademarks from her Harajuku and L.A.M.B. clothing lines. The singer claims Forever 21 bosses engaged in "acts of trademark infringement." Stefani, through her Harajuku Lovers, LLC company, is seeking to stop Forever 21 from modeling clothes based on her own designs, as well as unspecified monetary damages.
