Officials Investigate If Lohan Was Served Drinks Illegally

California officials are investigating whether there is any evidence Lindsay Lohan was illegally served alcohol before she was arrested for driving under the influence on Saturday. The 20-year-old, who police picked up after she crashed her Mercedes in Beverly Hills, is under the U.S. state's legal drinking age of 21. Before her accident, Lohan was spotted partying in West Hollywood nightclub Les Deux. Website Tmz.com claims to have video footage of the actress leaving the venue at around 3:30am on Saturday morning - an hour and a half after closing time. John Carr, a spokesperson for California's Department Of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC), has confirmed his agency is investigating whether there is evidence Lohan and other youths were served alcohol illegally, and whether they were served drinks after hours. Les Deux has issued the following statement: "We have and will continue to work closely with the ABC to make sure alcohol is consumed by responsible people of the legal drinking age, in a responsible manner. Les Deux is a restaurant and there is no age limit for our patrons. Lindsay had dinner at Les Deux that night and waited for friends to pack up the DJ supplies, thus leaving Les Deux after closing. Because of the enormous paparazzi presence outside of Les Deux that night, we allowed her to stay late and wait for her friends. She was not drinking at Les Deux, and left driven by her driver." Lohan checked into the Promises clinic in Malibu on Monday. Earlier this year, she received treatment at the Wonderland Center rehab facility in Hollywood.

Fischer Looking at 12 Week Recovery From Back Injury

The Office star Jenna Fischer needs another 12 weeks to fully recover from fracturing her back in four places while falling down a flight of stairs in a New York bar earlier this month. The actress, who plays Pam Beesly in the U.S. comedy, was taken to St. Vincent's Hospital in Manhattan after the fall at Buddakan on May 15. The 33-year-old still finds sleeping at night extremely difficult. She says, "I had a rough night last night. I'm mostly off the meds, but I did take some last night because sleeping is probably the most uncomfortable thing right now. I just can't get comfortable. My back doctor said it will be about 12 weeks until I'm fully recovered." During her fall, Fischer knew she was about to be seriously injured. She adds, "I was going to do one dance and then get out of there. The dance floor was down a long set of marble stairs. I linked arms with my friend and just missed a step. All I know is I was suddenly not on the ground anymore. My legs flipped out from underneath me, and while I was in the air, I had the thought, 'This isn't going to end well.' I've never felt anything like it. I was horribly nauseous and dizzy."

Heche Loses First Round of Divorce Battle

Anne Heche's estranged husband has won the first round in the couple's bitter divorce battle. Videographer Coleman Laffoon has been granted shared temporary custody of the couple's five-year-old son Homer and Los Angeles Superior Court authorities ignored the actress' plea to terminate the court's jurisdiction over spousal support. Instead they awarded Laffoon $19,000 in child and spousal support for May. But that's not quite the figure Laffoon had in mind - he filed papers earlier this month asking his estranged wife for $33,000-a-month in spousal support. Laffoon filed for divorce in February after Heche's romance with Men In Trees co-star James Tupper hit the headlines.

Hilton in More Trouble With Authorities

Jail-bound Paris Hilton has had another run in with the law - she's been issued with a parking ticket. The troubled socialite was reportedly issued the fine in Los Angeles yesterday afternoon, after authorities noticed her vehicle had outstayed the allowed parking period. Hilton - who is due to start serving her sentence on Tuesday for violating the probation terms of her 2006 drunk-driving arrest - was busy painting in a nearby craft store when her car was slapped with the fine by traffic cops. Meanwhile, Tmz.com reports that officials at Los Angeles' Century Regional Detention Center have already started preparations for the 26-year-old's stay - they've allegedly chosen her cell mate and issued a "written protocol" detailing "when and how things should be done for her."

Richie Confused About Joke Email Fuss

Socialite Nicole Richie can't believe she's under attack for emailing friends a joke invite to a Memorial Day party. The Simple Life star poked fun at her 2006 drink driving arrest and ongoing stories about her alleged eating disorder in the invite, and is now being asked to explain herself in the media. But Richie is more concerned about who hacked into her private email account and leaked the confidential invite. Appearing on Ryan Seacrest's Los Angeles radio morning show yesterday morning, Richie said, "You know what, it (message) rhymes... Are we really going to take an email that rhymes that seriously? It's a private email... to my friends, I was joking and I don't think there's anything wrong with it... I think that it's funny. It's not like I went and posted it on some blog or something; I didn't mean to make it public, and I have every right to say whatever I want to my friends. It's not that deep... I wanted to write something that rhymes and that was funny. That's it... I do it for every single holiday. I'm really confused as to why everyone is so shocked that I wrote a joking email to my friends." Richie began the email by stating, "Celebrate our country by drinking massive amounts of beer," adding, "There will be a scale at the front door. No girls over 100 pounds allowed in. Start starving yourself now."

George Michael Had a "Combination" of Drugs In His System

Arrested British singer George Michael had a lethal combination of drugs in his system when he was found slumped at the wheel of his car in London last year, a court has heard. Prosecutor Andrew Torrington told Brent Magistrates Court in London that drug testing of the star showed anti-depressants and the illegal drug GHB in his bloodstream - however Michael's lawyer claims it is common for traces of the narcotic to be present even if it has not been taken. Lawyers representing the star - who was not present at the hearing - have argued he was on prescription drugs at the time of the incident. Traces of marijuana were also found in his system, although lawyers have argued sleeping pills were the cause of the star's condition at the time of his arrest in October last year. District Judge Katherine Marshall said the state the star was in when he was found in his Mercedes at traffic lights was more important to the sentencing process than the variety of drugs found in his bloodstream. The singer will appear at Brent Magistrates Court to be sentenced on June 8, one day before he performs the inaugural gig at London's newly re-opened Wembley Stadium. Driving under the influence of drugs carries a maximum penalty of six months imprisonment.

'Entourage' Denies Racist Casting

The makers of TV hit Entourage have denied claims by Mark Wahlberg's former bodyguard that they cast actors according to race. Entourage, which stars Adrian Grenier as a rising Hollywood star, is inspired by Wahlberg's early years in Tinseltown, when he brought his friends from Massachusetts to share his newfound fame. African-American Leonard Taylor worked for Wahlberg "back in the day" and accuses the makers of Entourage of failing to include any minority groups in the show. He tells the New York Post's Page Six column, "There are no black people on the show. There are no black or Latino bodyguards, like Mark used to have - it's a slap in the face. People always ask me, 'Why is there no character based on you in Entourage?'" However, a representative for the HBO program, responds, "The show is only loosely based on Mark Wahlberg's experience. There aren't really any bodyguards, and as for being multicultural, Turtle (one of the main characters) is dating an African-American."

Brandy Accuses Driver of Negligence

Troubled R&B singer Brandy is suing another driver involved in her December crash, accusing him of causing the accident which left a mother-of-two dead. The singer/actress, real name Brandy Norwood, is facing possible charges of misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter after her car ploughed into 38-year-old Awatef Aboudihaj's Toyota Corolla on the San Diego Freeway in California on December 30. Another driver involved in the multi-vehicle accident, Mallory Ham, sued Norwood on Friday, accusing the star of driving in a "recklessly wantonly, unlawfully, and maliciously" manner and claims she was left "severely injured" following the collision. In response, Norwood has filed a suit in Los Angeles Superior Court, accusing Ham of causing the accident, and also denies the allegations in the latter's lawsuit. Norwood's lawyer Edwin McPherson says, "She's just responding to pieces of litigation as they come in and doesn't want to comment at this time." A California Highway Patrol report says Norwood was driving her Range Rover at 65 miles-per-hour and failed to slow down when the traffic built up, before crashing into Aboudihaj's vehicle, which was then hit by Ham's car. Norwood and Ham are both facing civil lawsuits for reckless driving from Aboudihaj's family, while the victim's parents and two children have also sued the hitmaker. If convicted, Norwood faces a possible one year in prison and a $1,000 fine.

Birkhead Hits Back at Unpaid Bills Claim

Photographer Larry Birkhead has hit back at claims he refused to pay $650,000 in legal fees following his custody battle for Anna Nicole Smith's daughter earlier this year. Birkhead was named as the father of nine-month-old Dannielynn in April, but lawyer Debra Opri insists the bill for her part in the court case is still outstanding. However, he claims Opri was aware he was not residing in California (where the suit was filed) until a forthcoming custody hearing is resolved next month, website Tmz.com reports. He says, "Despite their filings, both Ms. Opri and her attorney received notification making them aware that I would be out of the state of California taking care of my daughter until the conclusion of an upcoming June custody hearing in the Bahamas. Although at this time, the public is not aware of the unbelievable circumstances which led to me firing Ms. Opri, the only question at the end of the day is, how much money will Debra Opri be paying me? Thanks to the efforts of my Bahamas attorney, Emerick Knowles, I am fortunate enough now to be spending time with my daughter, Dannielynn."

Murphy's Husband Defends His Reputation

Actress Brittany Murphy's new British husband insists the numerous arrest warrants and civil lawsuits logged against him are normal procedure for a successful businessman. Producer Simon Monjack wed Just Married star Murphy earlier this month after just four months of dating. Last week, U.S. tabloid the National Enquirer exposed the Brit as an illegal visitor and dug up information suggesting Monjack has a civil judgment against him and a series of felony arrest warrants. But Monjack, who faces a court hearing about his future in America in July and could be kicked out of the country, insists his reputation is being tarnished by people jealous of his success. He tells American publication Us, "Like all businessmen, I have faced many lawsuits. It is a real tragedy that success, greed, envy and celebrity are the motivation for attacking my family and character." Monjack's lawyer claims all cases against his client have either been dismissed, are settled or are being resolved. He also expects the arrest warrants to be dropped.
