Doohan Ashes Beamed Up

Late Star Trek star James Doohan's remains were successfully blasted into space Saturday morning. The ashes of the actor, who played Montgomery "Scotty" Scott in the TV show and its spin-off movies, were flown up in a space rocket from Las Cruces, New Mexico. Following the flight, the remains of the star, who inspired the phrase "Beam me up, Scotty", parachuted down to Earth. The actor's widow, Wende Doohan, was at the launch. She says, "For the amount of emotion that was involved, it was amazing how technical and smoothly everything ran." Doohan died aged 85 in 2005. His ashes were accompanied by the remains of former US astronaut Gordon Cooper and those of 200 other people. Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry's remains were fired into space in 1997, six years after his death.
'Will & Grace' Lawsuit Settled

Two executive producers of Will & Grace have settled a lawsuit claiming they didn't receive millions of dollars in revenue owed them from the hit show with TV network NBC. David Kohan and Max Mutchnick sued NBC in December 2003 for $55 million. NBC denied their claims and countersued. The terms of Friday's settlement have not been released. Kohan and Mutchnick's attorney Ronald Nessim says, "We are very satisfied with the settlement." The agreement came a day after the foreman of the Los Angeles jury that heard the case was removed for failing to disclose he hosted a website which had been critical of NBC. The jury had reached a verdict on Wednesday and Superior Court Judge Warren Ettinger had been due to unveil this verdict later this week. However, as the case has now been settled Ettinger no longer has to decide whether to order new deliberations with a new juror.
Baldwin Slams Tabloid Media for Ruining Lives

Hollywood actor Alec Baldwin has hit out at the tabloid media, accusing the industry of deliberately ruining people's lives. The 30 Rock star has divided public opinion after a voicemail he left for his daughter Ireland, in which he verbally chastises the 11-year-old and calls his ex-wife Kim Basinger "a thoughtless pain in the ass", was leaked on the internet last week. And Baldwin finds it difficult to understand how someone can purposefully set out to wreck the personal life of somebody they don't know. In a pre-taped appearance on TV show The View, which aired Friday morning, Baldwin said, "The guy that's responsible for this tape coming out - I called some friends of mine in LA and said, 'What's his story?' And they told me his story, what he's all about, where he's coming from, what are his secrets. You find out that everybody who works in tabloid media are people who are filled with self-hatred and shame and the way that they manage those feelings is they destroy the lives of other people and reveal your secrets. I couldn't get over how they could beat you all day long."
Morgan Ordered To Wear Alcohol-Tracing Bracelet

A Los Angeles judge has ordered comedian Tracy Morgan to wear an ankle bracelet detecting alcohol consumption and to complete five days of community service. In a New York court in February, Morgan pleaded guilty to drunk-driving in November 2006. He was ordered to enter a doctor-supervised alcohol program, undertake community service and avoid being arrested again for six months. However, the conditional discharge violated a previous drink-driving conviction relating to a December 2005 incident in Hollywood. So at a Los Angeles Superior Court hearing on Friday, Morgan was ordered to wear a Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitoring (SCRAM) device on his ankle, which will test for alcohol consumption every 30 minutes for 90 days. Should Morgan test positive for alcohol use, he will have to start the 90 day period again. If he tests positive twice he will be sent to jail for 30 days. The actor, who was not present at Friday's hearing, is due in court on May 25 when he will be fitted with the SCRAM device, reports Tmz.com.
Grant Receives Libel Damages

Actor Hugh Grant has accepted undisclosed libel damages over claims he flirted with a film executive while dating Jemima Khan. British publishers Associated Newspapers agreed to the payout Friday morning over allegations his relationship with Khan was destroyed by a flirtation with another woman and his conduct over Elizabeth Hurley's wedding. It is believed the money will be donated to charity. Grant and Khan separated in February after being together for three years, but the split was said to be amicable. This should put a smile back on the Notting Hill actor's face following his arrest Thursday for an alleged attack on a British paparazzo.
Boy George Arrested On False Imprisonment Charges

80's popstar Boy George has been arrested on suspicion of assault and false imprisonment charges. The singer has been accused of kidnapping male escort Auden Carlsen and chaining him to the wall of his east London, England flat on Saturday. Carlsen claims he was hired by Boy George - real name George O'Dowd - to go to the singer's flat at the early hours of Saturday morning to pose for photos. The ex-Culture Club star started taking pictures of him in kinky gear - but Carlsen claims he feared for his life soon afterwards. He says, "George said he was popping out for milk at 5 am. I heard him come back and I walked into his bedroom wearing just my T-shirt. I was jumped on by George and another man. George handcuffed me to a hook by the bed as they held me down." Carlsen accuses the singer of producing a box of sex toys and whips when the other man left, telling him, "Now you'll get what you deserve." The escort managed to free himself by pulling the hooks from the wall and alerted the police from a nearby newsagent. He adds, "It's ironic that his biggest hit was 'Do You Really Want To Hurt Me' - because I'm sure he did want to hurt me. I was convinced I was going to die." The singer has been bailed while detectives probe the allegations. O'Dowd received community service last year in New York when police found cocaine in his apartment.
McQueen Car To Pick Up a Million?

A Ferrari belonging to late Hollywood actor Steve McQueen is set to pick up between $800,000 and $1.2 million at a Christie's auction in August, according to estimates. The car, driven by the "king of cool" for a decade from 1963, was unveiled by the famous auction house on Friday. McQueen was a race car enthusiast and often performed his own driving stunts in films. The sports car, boasting a metallic-brown exterior, is a 250 Gt Berlinetta Lusso and is said to be in remarkable condition. Christopher Sanger, a spokesman for Christie's says, "It's probably the best example of a Ferrari Lusso that's out there on the marketplace. Owned by a man who made the automobile and hard driving an essential component of cool in the 60s and 70s, this Lusso offers a truly unique opportunity for the collector."
Goyer To Direct 'X-Men' Spin Off
Batman Begins writer David S. Goyer is setting his sights on another superhero property - he is directing the spin-off movie to the X-Men trilogy, Magneto. The movie will focus on the young Magneto, the villain of the X-Men pictures played by Gods and Monsters star Ian McKellen, and how he became mortal enemies with character Professor X, played by Star Trek: The Next Generation actor Patrick Stewart in the trilogy. The main characters in the spin-off will be played by actors in their twenties instead of the original cast. Goyer has previously worked on superhero movies Batman Begins and the Blade trilogy.
Love Hewitt Sued by Ex-Management Company

Actress Jennifer Love Hewitt is being sued for $350,000 in damages by her former management company. Handprint Management alleges the 28-year-old owes the company money for brokering her starring role on his TV show Ghost Whisperer. The lawsuit, filed on Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court, claims Love Hewitt's career was revitalized by the hit program, which brought her "back to national prominence as a television star." Love Hewitt left Handprint Management in March 2005, reports Tmz.com. The suits says the actress paid Handprint Management in full for the first season of Ghost Whisperer, but refused to pay for the second season.

An insider tells American magazine Us Weekly, "Jen would love to have Vince back. She loves him and misses him."
