Lopez & Anthony Sue National Enquirer

Singing/acting couple Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony are suing tabloid The National Enquirer in several European courts, over allegations they were linked to a heroin scandal. The pair's Northern Ireland-based lawyer Paul Tweed said they were seeking a "six-figure settlement" from the publication and its parent company American Media Inc. Tweed is expected to file one of the lawsuits in a Belfast court today and subsequent suits in London, Dublin and Paris later this week. The couple are seeking an apology and retraction regarding a March article, which claimed they were "caught up in a heroin scandal" and published a 2004 image of Anthony, 37, standing beside photographer Michael Star, who is awaiting trial in the United States for heroin possession and child pornography. Tweed maintains the couple are not acquaintances of Star and Anthony posed for a photograph with Star in a fan capacity. Tweed said Lopez and Anthony had decided to sue in Europe because "the First Amendment restrictions in US libel law make it virtually impossible for international celebrities or other high-profile individuals to sue successfully."
'Spider-Man' Director Raimi Considers 'The Hobbit'
Spider-Man 4 is beginning to look a little shaky - director Sam Raimi is looking to tackle literary epic The Hobbit. The moviemaker, who is the brains behind all three Spider-Man movies, has revealed he's in the running to replace Peter Jackson as the director of the Lord Of The Rings prequel. And, if he does head to Middle Earth, actress Kirsten Dunst insists she definitely won't be back for a fourth Spider-Man. In an exclusive interview with EW.com, Raimi says, "Peter Jackson might be the best filmmaker on the planet right now... First and foremost, those ( Lord of The Rings films) are Peter Jackson and (New Line studio boss) Bob Shaye's films. If Peter didn't want to do it, and Bob wanted me to do it - and they were both OK with me picking up the reigns - that would be great. I love the book. It's maybe a more kid-friendly story than the others." Dunst, who was in Tokyo, Japan last night for the Spider-Man 3 world premiere, insists she can't imagine returning for a fourth film without Raimi. She explains, "It's disrespectful to the whole team, I think, to do that. And audiences aren't stupid. It'd be a big flop without me, Tobey Maguire or Sam. That would really not be the smartest move."
Gere Outrage As Actor Kisses Shetty
Richard Gere's public show of affection for Indian actress and reality TV star Shilpa Shetty has turned the actor into public enemy number one in the Indian cities of Mumbai, Varanasi and New Delhi. The Pretty Woman star swept the popular Bollywood actress into his arms and kissed her several times during an AIDS-awareness event over the weekend. The action has outraged Indians, who feel Gere went too far in a country where such public displays of affection are largely taboo. Angry crowds burned effigies of Gere during demonstrations yesterday morning after photographs of him embracing and kissing Shetty appeared on the front pages of India's leading national newspapers. Gere and Shetty, who recently won the UK's Celebrity Big Brother TV contest, joined forces in New Delhi at a press conference to highlight the HIV/AIDS epidemic among India's truck drivers. In front of a cheering crowd, Gere kissed the giggling Shetty on the hand, then kissed her on both cheeks. An embarrassed Shetty pulled back after the embrace and told Gere, "This is a bit too much." Speaking out about the incident this morning, the actress insists leading Hindus are making too much of a harmless mistake. She says, "I understand this is his culture, not ours. But this was not such a big thing or so obscene for people to overreact in such manner. I understand people's sentiments, but I don't want a foreigner to take bad memories from here."
Norton To Play Hulk?

Hollywood actor Edward Norton may be set to play comic hero The Hulk in a new movie, according to media reports. The Fight Club star is rumored to take over the role from Troy actor Eric Bana, reports Hollywood film publication Variety. The 2003 film, which starred Bana alongside Jennifer Connelly and directed by Ang Lee, was a commercial flop and received mixed reviews. Marvel Studios insist the sequel, which is tentatively set to be released next summer, will "be less serious than the first one and more in tune with the comic book series." The new installment will be directed by The Transporter's Louis Leterrier. Norton, twice nominated for an Oscar, was seen last year in both The Illusionist and The Painted Veil.
Voight Warns Americans To Stay Alert

Movie star Jon Voight wants Americans on high alert because he fears another 9/11 terrorist attack is near. The Deliverance star admits he's more than a little nervous about ongoing immigration issues, and fears Americans have become complacent as the sixth anniversary of Al Qaeda's attacks on Washington, D.C. and New York approaches. He tells RadarOnline.com, "I certainly hope we're paying close attention to all those people crossing our borders who might be dangerous to us. We know for sure there are cells in the United States that are ready to erupt. We know that (Lebanese paramilitary organization) Hezbollah is here; we know there are cells from different terrorist organizations that are here and operational and that there are others waiting too. So, listen, it's a serious business. It's wartime, guys. Because we don't have a continuous attack on our shores, we can get complacent. We've got to all be alert now."
British Paper Apologizes for Welch Drug Allegations

British newspaper The Mail On Sunday has apologized to actress Raquel Welch after claiming her daughter Tahnee had suffered a drug problem. Instead of negotiating through lawyers, the One Million Years B.C. beauty, 66, wrote to the London-based publication's Letters page from her Los Angeles home address. Welch said she was unhappy that a March feature on her in the newspaper's You magazine supplement claimed Tahnee "had once suffered with a drug problem." Welch writes, "The questionable source of this information appears to be one of those baseless rumors that surface on the internet and it's entirely untrue. As her mother, I can assure you that Tahnee has never, ever had a drug problem." In response, The Mail On Sunday published an apology, reading, "We are happy to report that our information was wrong and Tahnee Welch has never had any drug problem. We apologize for any embarrassment caused."

Stuntman Williams Dead at 85
Jack Williams, a revered Hollywood stuntman who appeared in Gone With The Wind and countless western classics, has died in California. He was 85. Ferry Apologizes for Nazi Comments
British rocker Bryan Ferry has apologized "unreservedly" for praising the Nazi propaganda machine. The Roxy Music singer, 61, was recently quoted in an interview with German newspaper Welt Am Sonntag as saying, "My God, the Nazis knew how to put themselves in the limelight and present themselves. Leni Riefenstahl's movies and Albert Speer's buildings and the mass parades and the flags - just amazing. Really beautiful." The comments have caused outrage in Ferry's native Britain, and have raised questions over the star's modeling contact with retail chain Marks And Spencer, which was founded and owned by Jewish immigrant Michael Marks. In a statement, Ferry says, "I apologize unreservedly for any offence caused by my comments on Nazi iconography, which were made solely from an art history perspective. I, like every right-minded individual, find the Nazi regime, and all it stood for, evil and abhorrent."
