Jolie and Maddox Arrive in Vietnam

Angelina Jolie and her son Maddox arrived in Vietnam yesterday ahead of the actress' formal adoption of a three-and-a-half-year-old boy today. The 31-year-old and Cambodian-born Maddox, five; flew from New Orleans, Louisiana, to southern Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City airport late on Wednesday night. Jolie and Maddox were whisked into a car and driven to an undisclosed hotel, where they were to rest before Thursday's adoption ceremony. Notably absent from Ho Chi Minh City was Jolie's partner Brad Pitt, who is adoptive father to Maddox and Ethiopian-born Zahara Marley, two. The couple also have a biological child Shiloh Nouvel, meaning the Vietnamese boy they are adopting would be their fourth child. Jolie filed the application for adopting the Vietnamese child as a single parent because she and Pitt are not married. Adoption officials in Vietnam said following the adoption ceremony, Jolie will meet with US consular officials, who have to approve the adoption before a passport can be issued for the youngster. Officials say if the paperwork is straightforward, Jolie and Pitt could have their new child in New Orleans by the weekend.

Tori and Candy Spelling Bond Over New Baby

Former Beverly Hills, 90210 star Tori Spelling reconciled with her mother Candy just before giving birth to a baby boy on Tuesday. The two had a troubled relationship that became even more estranged after the death of media mogul Aaron Spelling last June. Candy was with her daughter at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles when she gave birth to son Liam Aaron McDermott. She tells American publication People, "Words can't describe the joy and elation I feel at this truly happy event. I am looking forward to doting on my new little grandson and all the memorable fun that comes with it." A representative for Tori and husband Dean McDermott adds, "They're all really happy and everybody's resting now. Tori and the baby are healthy."

Depp's Daughter Released from Hospital

Johnny Depp's seven-year-old daughter, Lily-Rose, has been released from hospital in London after a frightening bout of blood poisoning. Depp and partner Vanessa Paradis had been keeping a vigil at the child's bedside since she was admitted to London's Great Ormond Street Hospital at the end of February. A source close to Depp tells American publication Us Weekly, "She is doing much better." Despite media reports she had developed the condition after stepping on a rusty nail, the cause has not been confirmed. The source says, "They don't know how she got it." The 43-year-old actor is currently filming a movie version of the stage musical Sweeney Todd in England, which was temporarily put on hold while his daughter was in hospital.

Johansson To Star On Broadway?

Hollywood beauty Scarlett Johansson is reportedly in talks to star in a New York City production of South Pacific. The Match Point star is one of the actresses being considered for the role of US Navy nurse Nellie Forbush in a revival of the musical at the Lincoln Center, which is scheduled to open in January 2008. Director Bartlett Sher is currently arranging auditions for the musical to take place next month, with Russian tenor Dimitri Hvorostovsky said to be in line for the role of plantation owner Emile De Becque, reports the New York Post. A production source tells the Post, "They want the leads to be sexy. This is not going to be a stodgy old production of South Pacific." Last year, Johansson was forced to put out of talks to play Maria in the London stage production of Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Sound Of Music, after her management clashed with the theatre impresario over her fees and conditions of her contract.

Witherspoon Speaks Out About New Style

Newly-single actress Reese Witherspoon is thrilled she has become a style icon since separating from husband Ryan Phillippe last year. The Legally Blonde star says her dramatic debut at the Golden Globe Awards in January, in a sleek yellow dress and new hairstyle, was a chic-coming out party. She tells American Harper's Bazaar magazine, "I felt like I looked different than I've ever looked." Witherspoon has two young children - Ava, seven, and Deacon, three - and has been criticized for making matronly fashion choices in the past. She credits Nina Ricci designer Olivier Theyskens for masterminding her transformation, adding, "I've used a stylist before, but these days I'm kind of just going with Olivier's taste."

Boston Star Committed Suicide

The family of Boston frontman Brad Delp has confirmed the rocker committed suicide. The "More Than A Feeling" singer, 55, was found dead in his New Hampshire home last Friday, and now Delp's family has come forward to announce the depressed star took his own life. In a statement released yesterday, members of Delp's family said, "He was a man who gave all he had to give to everyone around him, whether family, friends, fans or strangers. He gave as long as he could, as best he could, and he was very tired. We take comfort in knowing that he is now, at last, at peace." Delp's body was found by his fiancee Pamela Sullivan. The announcement comes after a state medical examiner declared Delp committed suicide by carbon monoxide poisoning.

Aniston Moving to Manhattan?

Jennifer Aniston is considering leaving her Malibu, California beach house and moving back to her native New York City. The Break-Up star has been spending more time in New York and has been shopping around for real estate. A source tells American publication Us Weekly, "She feels she needs a boost in her life and she can meet all kinds of people there. And she can meet men." The 38-year-old recently spent five days in the city during a low key visit where she ordered room service at the posh Lowell Hotel and shopped at luxury retailer Hermes quietly a half hour before closing time. Aniston also looked at an apartment building where Pulp Fiction star Harvey Keitel is a resident. The star may be searching for another role on stage after appearing in the one-night show The 24 Hour Plays in October. The source adds, "She's revisiting the Broadway idea."

Gareth Hunt Dies

British actor Gareth Hunt has died of pancreatic cancer at his home in Redhill, southern England. He was 65. Hunt is best known for playing Mike Gambit in 1970s TV show The New Avengers alongside Patrick Macnee and Joanna Lumley. He also starred in UK television shows Doctor Who, Upstairs Downstairs and Eastenders. In a statement, Hunt's agent says, "He fought the disease with great courage and through his strength of character and his wonderful sense of humor he continued to work right up until the end of 2006." Hunt is survived by his wife Amanda and three sons.

Spears' New Man: "I Love Her"

Britney Spears' rumored new rocker boyfriend has spoken out about his romance with the star, admitting he is "growing very close" to the troubled pop singer. Riva guitarist Jason Filyaw, 33, reportedly met Spears during an Alcoholics Anonymous session and it was love at first sight. And now Filyaw tells Tmz.com, "I love her, I support her 100 per cent and we are close." The rocker adds he's hoping to give Spears, who is currently in rehab in Malibu, California, "deep" and "spiritual" assistance as she battle substance abuse. Filyaw isn't a new face in Spears' life - the 33-year-old recorded music with the pop star in 2003.
