Tori Spelling Gives Birth

Former Beverly Hills, 90210 star Tori Spelling gave birth to a son yesterday at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. The star went into labor in the early hours of Tuesday morning, giving birth to the 6 pounds 6 ounce baby. So NoTORIous actress Spelling and husband Dean McDermott, the child's father, have named their son Liam Aaron McDermott in memory of late media mogul Aaron Spelling. The actress' brother, Randy, recently said Tori and her estranged mother Candy were in the process of reconciling their relationship before the baby's birth. The two had a troubled relationship which deteriorated even further after the death of media mogul Aaron Spelling last June. Randy told American publication People, "They are going to be there for each other. My mom is having a grandchild and it puts everything into perspective."

Family Confirms Jeni Was Clinically Depressed

Tragic comedian Richard Jeni's family have confirmed the funnyman took his own life as he struggled with severe clinical depression coupled with bouts of psychotic paranoia. Jeni's family released a statement yesterday in an effort to end speculation about the comedian's death on Saturday. The statement begins, "The family of Richard Jeni would like to put to rest any assumptions as to the cause of Richard's death. Despite the fact that the coroner's office has publicly stated that a suicide ruling will take two weeks, pending the results of an autopsy, Richard Jeni did take his own life." In the statement, Jeni's family reveal the comic was not, as reported, depressed after a series of professional disappointments, insisting he "had just enjoyed one of his most financially rewarding years to date." The statement reads, "The past few years had been more prolific than ever. As his agents can attest, prior to his illness, Richard only missed one engagement in over 20, and that was due to weather. The truth is earlier this year Richard Jeni was diagnosed with severe clinical depression coupled with bouts of psychotic paranoia. One only needs to have a family member or friend with a mental illness to understand that there is nothing rational, predictable, or fair about these diseases... He was not down or blue, he was ill."

Jolie Could Have New Son in Next Few Weeks

Angelina Jolie may be united with her new adopted son within weeks, a Vietnamese adoption official has confirmed. Vu Duc Long, director of the south east Asian nation's Ministry of Justice's International Adoption Department, said the actress' application had been speeded up because she had met the three-and-a-half year old on a previous visit to the country in November. Duc Long says officials expect to complete Jolie's paperwork by the end of March, meaning she is free to pick up the child anytime after that. The boy will be the third child adopted by Jolie. Together with partner Brad Pitt, she is mother to Cambodian Maddox, five, and Zahara Marley, two. The couple also welcomed their first biological child together, Shiloh Nouvel in May.

Lohan's Father Released From Prison

Lindsay Lohan's father Michael was set to be released from a New York state prison today after more than two years behind bars. Michael was sentenced to serve time after surviving a fiery car crash on Long Island, where he was charged with driving under the influence. The former stockbroker, producer and actor has reportedly changed his ways and is now an ordained minister who wants to "make amends for his past mistakes". Before his prison stint, he was in the process of filming a reality TV series called Hollywood Dad and plans to resume shooting the show. The show's producer Brett Hudson explains, "Michael Lohan is a changed man. I've spoken to him often and I know it. The last time around, Michael would never admit he'd done anything wrong. Now, he not only admits his past mistakes, but he wants to right the wrongs he's done. And most of all he wants to get his family on track." Lindsay, who recently completed a stint in rehabilitation facility, is said to be considering reconciling with her father after he wrote her a heartfelt letter from jail asking for forgiveness earlier this year.

Sarah Jessica Parker Launches Fashion Line

Former Sex And The City star Sarah Jessica Parker is putting her time playing fashion-obsessed New Yorker Carrie Bradshaw to good use and launching her own fashion line. The 41-year-old is known for her bold style choices and is creating her own label called Bitten. The actress will present a private view of her new line at an exclusive lunch for top fashion editors today. According to FashionWeekDaily.com, details on the collection, including prices, target audience and manufacture remain tightly under wraps, but many insiders are comparing it to The Row, the fashion line developed by Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen. Parker is no stranger to the style world and received the Fashion Icon Award at the Council of Fashion Designers of America Fashion Awards in 2004. She also launched a successful fragrance, Lovely, in 2005.

Mirren Sells New Orleans Dream Home

Oscar winner Dame Helen Mirren has sold the New Orleans, Louisiana "Creole cottage" home she showed off in top design magazine Architectural Digest. But the actress and moviemaker husband Taylor Hackford still have property in New Orleans because the couple don't want to lose their ties with the area. She says, "We will never abandon the most beautiful city in America... New Orleans is a totally unique environment, and we encourage every American to make a long-term commitment to preserving this fabulous cultural asset. It's one of the few places that's not precious to the nth degree; it doesn't look as though its history has been cleaned up by Disney. It's funky and untidy. And when I'm working in London, it's New Orleans that I'm homesick for." Mirren, who insists she'd like to die in New Orleans, also shares homes in Los Angeles, London and the South of France with Hackford.

Houston Begins Work On New Album

Whitney Houston has finally started work on her comeback album after stepping into a Los Angeles recording studio yesterday. The troubled singer has spent time in rehab over the past year over controversy regarding her drug abuse, but has now teamed up with her mentor Clive Davis to record tracks for a new album. With John Legend and Ne-Yo lined up to work with the diva, Houston is currently working with Grammy Award-winning songwriter and producer Johnta Austin, who wrote Mariah Carey's hit "We Belong Together." According to Fox News, music mogul Clive Davis has already selected up to seven tunes for the star, including songs by R Kelly and Diane Warren. Houston is also reportedly working with a vocal coach to ensure her voice has not been affected by drug abuse and smoking.

'Armed & Famous' in Mistaken Identity Lawsuit

American reality TV show Armed & Famous is facing a lawsuit over a case of mistaken identity. Lyndsay Clements, 22, of Muncie, Indiana claims her flat was raided by five to eight police officers who then restrained her in handcuffs and subjected her to questioning about two people she did not know. The now-cancelled CBS show saw celebrities including Jack Osbourne, La Toya Jackson and Erik Estrada acting as part of the Muncie police force. In the claim filed last week, Clements insists the police search was illegal and excessive, violating her constitutional rights. The claim also states Clements "also holds liable all those associated with filming and airing the show." Armed & Famous producer Tom Forman, police chief Joe Winkle and attorney Charles Clark declined to comment on the allegations. The show was axed in January.

Hudson To Play Franklin in Film Biopic?

Music legend Aretha Franklin wants Academy Award winner Jennifer Hudson to play her in an upcoming film based on her life. The Queen of Soul appeared backstage at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Monday night, where she talked about Hudson being the ideal choice to portray her. A book on Franklin's life is scheduled to debut as a theatre production in the coming months, with talk of Hudson playing the soul legend in the film adaptation already in circulation. Hudson won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar last month for her role as Effie White in the movie musical Dreamgirls.

The scuffle broke out while the couple were taking a private tour of the tunnels next to the Western Wall.
