US talk show king Jay Leno has paid tribute to tragic comedian Richard Jeni after the comic was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound on Saturday. Jeni appeared on Leno's The Tonight Show more than any other guest, and the TV host admits he was stunned to hear of the funnyman's suspected suicide. In a statement, Leno says, "I was totally shocked. He was a great comic... a great guy. He had an everyman kind of appeal, he was a kid from New York and his comedy was that of a kid from New York... He just made me laugh. Whenever I watched Richard, I'd go, 'Man, I wish I had his material.'"

TV veteran Regis Philbin is to undergone heart bypass surgery this week after feeling shortness of breath. The 75-year-old host told viewers of his morning show Live With Regis And Kelly yesterday that he had been feeling ill recently and a visit to the doctors confirmed he would have to have an operation. Speaking to the audience, Philbin said, "Well, listen, I gotta tell you something. I had been feeling chest pains, you know, and, uh, shortness of breath and all those little symptoms that you hear about." Philbin explained he is hoping to have an angioplasty this week, because "you know, you get in - bang, bang, bang - they blow it open and you leave the next day... there's some plaque in some arteries and I've got to get it cleaned out. Darn it, I don't want to do it. Nobody wants to do it, I guess. And I had a second opinion, I did all those things, and so they're all in agreement that it should be the bypass. And so that's what I'm gonna do."

Hollywood star Sylvester Stallone will reportedly be charged in an Australian court today in relation to his run-in with customs officials last month. Stallone had his luggage, private jet and hotel room searched by local authorities in February - banned substances were said to have been taken from the cases of the actor's entourage. The 60-year-old has since claimed the incident was simply a "misunderstanding." Officials have refused to comment on what charges Stallone will face when the case is filed at the Downing Center Local Court in Sydney, but the actor/filmmaker will not be required to attend as long as he is represented by a lawyer.

Swedish police arrested rapper Snoop Dogg on suspicion of using illegal narcotics in the early hours of yesterday morning , before releasing him after questioning and drug tests. The star had just performed a gig in Stockholm and was traveling to an after-show party when police pulled his car over at 1:30am. Cops decided Snoop Dogg - real name Calvin Broadus - and a female companion showed signs of drug use and took the pair to a nearby police station. They were held overnight before being released this morning. A small amount of drugs were found in the car, although it is not yet clear what the drugs were or who they belonged to. Police spokesman Matts Brannlund says, "He was deemed to be under the influence of narcotics. He underwent some tests that will now be sent away for analysis. In two to three weeks, we'll know if he was on something." Sweden usually punishes minor drug offences with a fine.

Dame Elizabeth Taylor is furious with the producers of an Australian TV news show for questioning the authenticity of a magazine profile on the veteran star. Presenters on Australia's Media Watch questioned the Vogue article after discovering 15 of Taylor's 19 answers had already been published word-for-word elsewhere in print or on television. Taylor was outraged when she heard about the show and sent a scathing voicemail message to producers. The quotes in Vogue were attributed to Taylor and supplied to the magazine by Christine Bookallil, the Sydney publicist for the film legend's jewelry company, House of Taylor. Executive producer Tim Palmer told the Sydney Daily Telegraph after exchanging emails with Bookallil's lawyer, they were shocked to receive a call from Taylor herself. The 75-year-old was reportedly furious about the apparent attack on Bookallil and Vogue's integrity saying, "We know each other very well. Any quotes she may have come up with are things I have said before... She certainly wasn't making it up. I respect her and adore her. She's a good woman and whoever's after her should be put down. I don't mean like a dog, but that's not a bad idea."

Music producer and reality TV star David Gest has been lined up to replace Irish music mogul Louis Walsh on British TV show The X Factor. Gest - the estranged husband of Liza Minelli - will reportedly join remaining judges Simon Cowell and Sharon Osbourne in their bid to unearth the UK's best undiscovered musical talent following Walsh's departure from the program last week. A source tells British newspaper the Daily Mirror, "Talks are well under way and ITV chiefs think David is just what the show needs to give it a new kick. It's just a case of sorting out money and scheduling. Simon Cowell wants someone who would bring some fresh humor to the show and David is such a character. He knows David will be someone who knows what he's talking about. He also wants someone with strong views and who isn't afraid to speak their mind and David's that man." In January, ITV bosses announced plans for Gest's own show, following his success on reality show I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! in November. The David Gest Show will air later this year.

American designer Marc Jacobs has checked into rehab after a recent relapse. The 38-year-old decided to enter a rehab centre in Arizona after showing his Louis Vuitton collection during Paris Fashion Week last week. Jacobs has been sober for seven years, but decided to seek treatment after his relapse. He previously entered rehab in 1999. His business partner Robert Duffy tells Women's Wear Daily, "Marc made the right decision. He'd been sober for seven years. When he relapsed, he wanted to deal with it right away. According to the experts, such a relapse isn't uncommon. Thankfully, Marc recognized the problem himself and chose to deal with it. Obviously, our prayers are with him."

Pop star Mandy Moore has reportedly ended her relationship with Adam 'DJ AM' Goldstein, after only a few months of dating. The 22-year-old singer/actress split from Scrubs star Zach Braff in November, and was first spotted with Goldstein at the Sundance Film Festival in January. Goldstein ended his engagement with The Simple Life star Nicole Richie last year. But, according to Pagesix.com, the singer/actress is single once again after deciding to end the relationship before things got too serious. A representative for Moore refused to confirm the split saying, "We don't comment on her personal life."

Producers of hit TV show The Sopranos were yesterday granted permission to film in Bloomfield, New Jersey - four days after council officials revoked the crew's filming permit. Bloomfield Mayor Raymond McCarthy - whose wife is Italian - had been accused by local businessmen of letting his "personal feelings" get in the way of the filming, because he believed the crime drama painted a negative picture of all Italian-Americans. But the town's lawyer Brian Aloia overruled the council's decision, because the final word rested with the town clerk, not local authorities. Before the ruling, Aloia said, "(The clerk) must look at the application in an objective manner. She cannot consider, for instance, what's being filmed or, in this case, if she likes the show or doesn't like the show." Producers will now begin filming at Holsten's Brookdale Confectionary in Bloomfield for three days later this month.

Supermodel Linda Evangelista is reported to be pregnant again - just five months after giving birth to first child Augustin James in October last year. The Canadian beauty - who still refuses to reveal the identity of her son's father - has been dating Hard Rock Cafe founder Peter Morton since September 2006 and is now said to be expecting her second baby. A source tells British newspaper the Daily Express, "Friends say she's expecting again and the baby is Peter's. Linda is 42 in May so may feel it's not worth wasting time in increasing her family."
