A Los Angeles judge ruled yesterday morning that former model Anna Nicole Smith's body could be released from a Florida medical examiner's office. The ruling came just hours after a Florida judge upheld an earlier California court ruling that Smith's body be held for 10 days until DNA tests are complete. According to Smith's attorney Ron Rale, "The judge found that there was sufficient DNA, as we had contended, that had been taken by Dr. Perper, who is the chief medical examiner in Broward County." The former Playboy Playmate's ex-boyfriend Larry Birkhead is fighting to prove he is the father of Smith's baby Dannielynn. Birkhead's attorney had argued that accurate DNA testing would not be possible if the body was moved from the coroner's office. Today's legal decision came as the Florida coroner's office warned that Smith's body was decomposing and should be released as soon as possible. Rale says Smith's remains will be sent to her former lawyer and companion Howard K. Stern, who also claims he is the father of the model's five-month-old daughter. He adds, "We want Anna Nicole to have a proper burial. We want the process to commence so that she doesn't lose a day." Stern's attorneys are expected to appear in a Florida courtroom to uphold the latest decision from the California judge, saying that Smith's body can be released. Smith's estranged mother, Virgie Arthur, is also fighting for the body to be released to her, so that she can take it back to her daughter's native Texas.

Anna Nicole Smith's former nanny has added to the media storm swirling around the late actress by filing legal documents suggesting her former boss was an unfit mother. In an explosive new legal document, Bahamian nanny Quethlie Alexis states Smith starved her baby daughter Dannielynn because, "She wanted her baby to be sexy." According to the sworn affidavit written in December, and just obtained by website Tmz.com, Alexis claims she was told to "underfeed" the tot. Speaking about Smith by her real name Vicky Lynn Marshall, Alexis states, "Ms. Marshall was obsessed with making sure that her baby was sexy. Ms. Marshall knew that the correct amount of baby food was three ounces every three hours... Ms. Marshall insisted that the maximum I was to give was 2.5 ounces." In the affidavit, Alexis tells the authorities that baby Dannielynn "is badly underweight and not thriving, as a baby should."

Natalie Portman and Gael Garcia Bernal have sparked reports they have rekindled their romance after they were photographed leaving a German nightclub together. The Star Wars beauty and the Mexican actor, who is a member of the jury at the Berlin International Film Festival, parted ways in 2004 after dating for a year. Earlier this week the pair were snapped leaving the China Club in Berlin, where they had been partying with a number of other celebrities. The producers of hit TV drama Lost have been handed an expensive headache after film canisters featuring master footage was erased by an airport X-ray machine. The show bosses are still trying to figure out who to blame for the costly mistake, which could leave them having to spend an extra $300,000 to reshoot the scenes on the destroyed film. According to sources, film of the show accidentally went through an x-ray machine at Honolulu International Airport in Hawaii, where the series is shot - and was wiped. Lost producers claim security personnel at the airport are to blame because they didn't take note of warning labels asking them not to put the film canisters through an x-ray machine. But airport insiders state the film canisters were mistakenly mixed in with passenger luggage, leading to the error.

Music and Lyrics actress Drew Barrymore has slammed rumors she is dating Scrubs star Zach Braff. Barrymore split with The Strokes' drummer Fabrizio Moretti in December last year, and reports have linked Braff and the actress since her appearance on TV show Saturday Night Live earlier this month. Barrymore held a guest-host spot on the program and the pair were spotted getting close after the show was aired. But a spokesperson for Barrymore says, "There is simply no romance between Drew and Zach. They are simply friends."

English thespian Sir Ian McKellen has branded Sunday night's British Academy Awards (BAFTAs) "downmarket and low key." The Lord Of The Rings star expressed his disappointment the awards had failed to attract neither Little Miss Sunshine actor Alan Arkin, who was named Best Supporting Actor, or Dreamgirls' Jennifer Hudson, named Best Supporting Actress - both of whom failed to collect their awards at the event in London. Despite Dame Judi Dench, Dame Helen Mirren and Forest Whitaker being in attendance, he admits, "I thought it was a little down, a little downmarket." The actor also slammed new host Jonathan Ross on his debut presenting the awards, lauding previous host Stephen Fry for his past efforts. He adds, "I thought he (Ross) was a bit low key. He played it respectful. Stephen had been doing it for a long time and he was full of jokes but maybe Jonathan thought, 'I'll be the serious film connoisseur'."

Radio shock jock Howard Stern made Valentine's Day extra special for his longtime girlfriend Beth Ostrosky - by proposing to her. The 53-year-old host told listeners of his Sirius Radio show that he had asked the model to marry him. Stern recalled Tuesday night's proposal on yesterday's show, explaining he asked the 34-year-old model if she wanted her Valentine's Day gift early and she said yes. He told listeners he ordered her to strip down, and, once naked, he presented her with a 5.2 carat diamond ring saying, "I love you. You're everything to me. This is so gay... I'm asking you to spend the rest of your life with me." Stern insists the engagement is not a joke. Last month, he announced on air that the couple had tied the knot, but later revealed it was a prank. This will be the first marriage for Ostrosky and the second for Stern, who split from wife Alison in 2000.

Robbie Williams checked himself into rehab to kick a staggering daily drug intake including three packets of cigarettes, 36 double espresso coffees, anti-depressants and sleeping pills, according to reports. A British newspaper claims the singer became hooked on caffeine, nicotine and Seroxat before seeking help at the Cottonwood Clinic in Arizona. But The Sun alleges Williams has not lapsed in his long-term battles with alcohol and cocaine. The newspaper writes, "The singer finds it impossible to get to sleep until 4 or 5am due to insomnia and is on sleeping pills. He is hooked on the powerful anti-depressant Seroxat, which has been linked to suicidal tendencies in teenagers. And daily he gets through an incredible 36 super-strength double espresso coffees, 60 Silk Cut cigarettes and around 20 cans of energy drink Red Bull."

Fox, a former professional basketball star with the Los Angeles Lakers, recently split from and divorced Ugly Betty star Vanessa Williams. The new couple was spotted dining at Madeo in Beverly Hills, California where a source tells American publication In Touch Weekly they "shared bites of each other's pasta, along with a few kisses."

New Zealand movie hunk and The Ring star Martin Henderson is leading the race to land Brad Pitt's Mr. Smith role, opposite Jordana Brewster, in a new TV series based on the hit movie Mr. & Mrs. Smith. The Fast & The Furious star Brewster has already been announced as the actress who'll take on Angelina Jolie's Mrs. Smith role in the TV pilot. In the 2005 film, Jolie and Pitt played married assassins. The couple fell in love while shooting the movie.
