Heche "Leaves Husband for Co-Star"

Actress Anne Heche has separated from her husband of five years Coleman Laffoon to be with her Men In Trees co-star James Tupper, according to media reports in the US. Heche, 37, wed movie cameraman Laffoon in 2001 - a year after ending her long-term relationship with chat show host Ellen DeGeneres. Her publicist Lisa Kasteler says, "They have requested that they be allowed their privacy at this time." Kasteler refused to comment on her client's love life any further, but a spokesperson for Tupper confirms he split from his wife in November. Heche and Tupper are currently shooting Men in Trees together in Vancouver, Canada. She plays a New York author, while he plays a rugged Alaskan ranger.

Washington Seeks Counseling at Treatment Center

Disgraced Grey's Anatomy star Isaiah Washington was checked into a residential treatment facility in a bid to keep his job on the medical drama, according to news reports in America. The actor hit the headlines last year with anti-gay remarks he made towards cast mate TR Knight on the set of the show. He repeated the remarks in a bid to clear his name at the Golden Globe Awards earlier this month. After publicly apologizing for using the derogatory word "f****t" in public last week, Washington met with enraged gay community leaders on Monday. Accepting he needs help, Washington checked into the unnamed facility for a "psychological assessment" this morning, according to a report in American publication Life & Style. His decision to seek help for his comments came after Washington met with TV bosses at ABC, the network that airs Grey's Anatomy in the US. A source tells the publication, "ABC has told him he must enter a program to examine why he would say such hateful words."

Fanning Slams Film Critics for Attacking Family

Child star Dakota Fanning has hit back at critics who attacked her parents for allowing her to film a simulated rape scene in her new movie. Several religious groups have protested the movie Hounddog, saying that having a 12-year-old in a rape scene was criminal. However, Fanning says some of the people who bashed the film's concept "were attacking my family and me, and that's where it got too far. Pretty much everybody who talked about it attacked my mother, which I did not appreciate. That was extremely uncalled for and hurtful." The controversial scene lasts less than a minute and no simulation of a sex act is depicted on camera. The young star insists the scene was not disturbing to shoot and says she filmed the close-ups of her face alone. Fanning says even if she hadn't been in the movie she would want to see it adding, "I know my mom would take me to see it. You have to prepare your children for things that happen in the world. Everything isn't rosy."

Brandy Caught Up in New Year Car Crash Fatality

R&B star Brandy started 2007 off with memories of a terrible car crash that left another motorist dead. According to new police reports, obtained by website TMZ.com, the singer was driving her Land Rover on California's 405 freeway on December 30 when she failed to notice cars in front of her were slowing down. Brandy braked late and collided with a Toyota, which in turn hit another car before striking the central divider. The Toyota was then hit by another car. The driver of the Toyota was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in critical condition and later died, according to the website. Brandy was not injured in the accident and was not arrested. She was not deemed to be speeding. After news of the car crash was published on the internet yesterday morning, the singer's representatives released a short statement acknowledging the accident and the deceased. They wrote, "Brandy was involved in a car accident December 30, 2006 in Los Angeles, where there was a fatality. She wishes to publicly express her condolences to the family of the deceased. Brandy asks that you respect the privacy of everyone involved at this time."

Whitaker Regrets Golden Globes Speech

The Last King Of Scotland star Forest Whitaker regrets not being more composed during his acceptance speech at the Golden Globe Awards last week. The 45 year old won Best Actor in a Drama for his acclaimed portrayal of brutal Ugandan dictator Idi Amin, and was overcome by emotion when he took the stage. He struggled to compose himself and stuttered apologies as he attempted to regain control of his emotions. He explains, "I lived in the moment. Until I heard my name, I didn't know if it was going to be true. When I heard it I was overwhelmed, really. I started stuttering around and stuff. I wish I was more coherent." Whitaker is also nominated for an Academy Award for the performance, but won't be disappointed if he doesn't win because making the film was so rewarding. He adds, "I guess (winning an Oscar) is historic. It goes down in history forever. People will always know that moment. I think the private moments, the sort of individual moments when you're working, when you do something and it's pure magic, that's kind of what I live for."

Moynahan's Rep Hits Back at Weight Loss Speculation

Actress Bridget Moynahan's representative has dismissed reports her client is rapidly losing weight to compete with her ex-boyfriend's rumored new love Gisele Bundchen. The I, Robot star's three-year relationship with American football player Tom Brady ended in December and he's since been linked to the supermodel. Friends now fear Moynahan is spending too much time in the gym in a bid to compete with the Brazilian beauty, telling the New York Daily News, "She's depressed. We were worried about her before, but she's just gotten too thin. It's unhealthy. She's spending all of her free time at the gym. If Gisele Bundchen were dating your ex-boyfriend, wouldn't you be depressed too?" However, Moynahan's representative tells the newspaper, "There has been no change in the actress' weight. She is happy and healthy."

Leto Tried To Choke Wood at Awards Show

Elijah Wood was shocked when he was attacked by Jared Leto at an awards show recently, because The Lord Of The Rings star said he didn't like Leto's band. The 26-year-old star was attending the MTVU Woodie Awards in November when Leto, who is the lead singer of cult act 30 Seconds To Mars, approached his table. Leto came over, whispered in Wood's ear and walked away, but then turned around, grabbed him by the throat and called him a "f**king a**hole." Wood tells Jane magazine, "He was basically upset at the fact that I said I didn't like his band. He said that initially and walked away. I guess he thought I was laughing at him, but I was more shell-shocked and telling people around me, 'Whoa, I just got told off by Jared Leto for not liking his band.' And that's when he came back and grabbed me." He adds, "I told Jared it wasn't personal. He acted like I'd been disrespecting him or speaking about his family. Things like that don't usually happen to me. I'm very non-confrontational. The whole thing was kind of ridiculous."

Banks Fights Fat Stories

Former supermodel Tyra Banks is set to disrobe again on her hit talk show in a bid to quell reports she's getting fat. Tabloids poked fun at the retired catwalk stunner after unflattering holiday photographs taken of Banks in Sydney, Australia last month appeared in style magazines. The former Victoria's Secret model, who stripped to her underwear for a "reveal" show last year, now plans to wear the same striped bathing suit she wears in the holiday snapshots on her show next week - to prove that sometimes the camera does lie. Banks admits she was horrified when tabloids started suggesting she was fat, insisting she has put on 30 pounds since her modeling career began and now weighs a healthy 161 pounds.

Kennedy Ex To Reveal Madonna Romance?

A former girlfriend of John F. Kennedy Jr. is being paid over $1 million for a memoir detailing her relationship with the late hunk, who reportedly cheated on her with pop star Madonna. Actress Christina Haag, a former girlfriend and college housemate of Kennedy's, has secured a $1.2 million advance for her upcoming book. A source tells the New York Daily News, "They knew each other from (attending) Brown (University), so the book is going to cover the party years." Last year, another one of Kennedy's close college friends, Billy Noonan, declared that Kennedy had a sexual fling with Madonna while he was dating Haag in his memoir. The book will also reportedly include details on Haag's difficult relationship with John's mother, Jacqueline Onassis. A source adds, "Jackie never approved of Christina because she was an actress." The book is being published by Doubleday Imprint Spiegel & Grau, who signed the secret deal with Haag in November. The notoriously-private Onassis worked as an editor for Doubleday in New York City in her final years.

Cowell Cuts Back on Criticism

Acid-tongued judge Simon Cowell showed his softer side on this week's episode of American Idol when he dished out praise to several singing hopefuls. Cowell has been heavily criticized since last week's episode, after which Entertainment Weekly critic Michael Slezak claimed, "The American Idol auditions in Seattle sometimes crossed the line into outright cruelty." However, Cowell lavished contestants with praise when the show visited Memphis, Tennessee this week, telling one hopeful she had "probably one of the best voices we've heard" and calling another a "brilliant singer." Katrina Szish of American publication Us Weekly notes, "It almost seemed like there was a happy drink that had been passed out in Memphis."
