Timberlake and Diaz Confirm Split

Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz have officially ended their relationship after almost four years together. The pair began dating in April 2003 after meeting at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards. According to website Tmz.com, the pair issued a joint statement late yesterday announcing they have officially split, saying, "It has always been our preference not to comment on the status of our relationship, but, out of respect for the time we've spent together, we feel compelled to do so now, in light of recent speculation and the number of inaccurate stories that are being reported by the media. We have, in fact, ended our romantic relationship and have done so mutually and as friends, with continued love and respect for one another." Timberlake has been romantically linked to Scarlett Johansson after the two were seen spending time together at an after-party for his film Alpha Dog. The Lost In Translation actress also stars in Timberlake's latest music video "What Goes Around."

Streep To Star in Film Version of 'Mamma Mia!'

Academy Award winner Meryl Streep is putting her vocal talents to the test in the Hollywood adaptation of ABBA musical Mamma Mia! The Devil Wears Prada star, 57, is set to play Donna, whose daughter Sophie is due to be married when she embarks on a journey to discover the identity of her father. It will be Streep's first musical. The film's producer, Judy Craymer, says, "(Streep) was always at the top of our wish list. She encapsulates the spirit and energy and has the powerhouse qualities that character requires." The movie features ABBA songwriters Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson as executive producers, while the picture will be produced by Tom Hanks' production company Playtone. Mamma Mia! will begin shooting later this year in London and Greece, and reports suggest the film's release will coincide with the musical's 10th anniversary in 2009.

Roberts, Foxx & Kidman Nail Oscar Interviews

Julia Roberts, Jamie Foxx and Nicole Kidman are set to show off their interviewing skills after landing TV chats with their Oscar-winning heroes. The three Oscar winners were invited to pick their favorite Academy Award victor and interview them for an upcoming Oprah TV special. The Oprah Winfrey Oscar Special, which will debut in America just before this year's Oscars next month, will feature Roberts chatting with her pal George Clooney at his Hollywood home, Kidman interviewing fellow Antipodean star Russell Crowe and Foxx putting veteran actor Sidney Poitier on the spot.

'Breakfast Club' Star Caught Up in New Race Drama

The Breakfast Club star Anthony Michael Hall has become the latest star caught up in a race row after hurling abuse at a Hispanic fan on Wednesday night. The former Brat Pack star was caught on video using the 'N' word while greeting fans outside Los Angeles' Laugh Factory, where Seinfeld star Michael Richards hit the headlines for repeating the word during a race rant aimed at two African-American hecklers last year. Laid-back Hall just thought he was blending in as the Hispanic fan asked to have his photo taken with the star. He joked, "I am scared of this n**ger right here," adding, "What up n**ger?" to another fan seconds later. The video was later sold to website Tmz.com. One fan at the scene says, "There was no malice involved. The guy was just trying to be cool."

Cruise and Holmes Fear for Suri's Safety

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are rarely seen in public with their nine-month-old daughter Suri because they fear she may be the target of kidnapping plots, according to media reports in the US. The last time Suri was spotted in public was a brief appearance in her father's arms during her parents' honeymoon last year, where the couple were surrounded by eight bodyguards. During the baby's appearance at the couple's wedding in Italy, the family took extra security precautions and were protected by 200 police officers, as well as members of an Italian security force. According to US publication Star, the couple fear the extreme public interest in the baby could make her a prime target for abduction. A source says, "The world was so obsessed with getting its first peek at Suri, I think Tom and Katie might have decided to keep her under wraps to prevent some wacko from trying to abduct her." Other celebrities whose children have reportedly been targets of foiled kidnapping plots include US talk show host David Letterman, Victoria and David Beckham and Russell Crowe

'Buck Rogers' Star Gil Gerard Undergoes Gastric-Bypass Surgery

TV's Buck Rogers, Gil Gerard, has shed 140 pounds after undergoing gastric-bypass surgery. The heavyweight former TV hunk weighed in at a whopping 350 pounds when doctors told him he was morbidly obese - and they suggested surgery to help him lose weight fast. The 66-year-old actor, who played Rogers on TV from 1979 to 1981, agreed to let Discovery Health channel cameras follow his operations and subsequent progress. After winning his battle with the bulge in just seven months, the actor says, "I don't miss that guy, I really don't." Pal Bill Clinton joined Gerard for part of the Discovery special, which debuted in America on Wednesday night.

Nominees for costumes in period film include Milena Canonero for Marie Antoinette, Sharen Davis for Dreamgirls, and Penny Rose for Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. The winners will be revealed at the ceremony on February 17 which takes place in Beverly Hills, California.

Terri Irwin's TV Tears for Steve

The widow of charismatic TV naturalist Steve Irwin broke down in tears on American TV on Wednesday night when she described how her children were coping without their beloved father. Terri Irwin appeared on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno and wept as she recalled the difficult days following the Crocodile Hunter star's death last September from a stingray barb to the chest. She also discussed how kids Bindi and Bob were dealing with the tragedy. Yesterday Terri appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres Show where she confessed she often felt her marriage with the late conservationist was a figment of her imagination. She said, "It ebbs and it flows and I tell you, sometimes I expect him to walk in the door, and other times I just think it's like one of those really good movies that you want to remember. Sometimes you think, 'I'm not remembering all the last 14 years,' but I think that's just a protection device." Terri added her husband had never been worried about death, recalling, "Steve was never afraid for his own mortality. Countless times he has said to me, 'Okay, now I can die. This is the most incredible thing I've ever done, now I can die,' and then we'd go and swim with the manatees, and then he'd go, 'Okay, now I can die.'"

Schwarzenegger In Constant Pain After Leg Operation

Actor-turned-California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger complains he is in constant pain after undergoing surgery on his broken leg last month - contradicting statements from his office claiming he is "feeling great". The True Lies star had a 90-minute operation on his right femur in December, where surgeons used cables and screws to repair the bone following his skiing accident three days earlier. But despite taking time off from official engagements to recover from his ordeal, Schwarzenegger is struggling to regain a clean bill of health. He says, "I don't think I can remember ever having had pain - ongoing pain, 24 hours a day - like after this operation. So this is really annoying to me. The only time when I don't have pain is when I work."

David Beckham Signs for LA Galaxy

Celebrity supercouple David Beckham and Victoria Beckham are moving to America - the soccer star has agreed to sign for Major League team Los Angeles Galaxy. Beckham, 31, will leave Spanish club Read Madrid at the end of the current season and sign a five year deal with the California side in the summer. The former England captain's future has been in doubt since Real Madrid manager Fabio Capello made it clear Beckham was not part of his plans for the team. The player and wife Victoria have meanwhile spent an increasing amount of time in LA, latterly house-hunting - prompting rumors of a move. After agreeing a deal to spend the twilight years of his career in the sunshine of California, Beckham today said, "This week Real asked me to make a decision regarding my future and the offer to extend my contract for a further two seasons. After considering several options to stay in Madrid or join other major British and European teams, I have decided to join LA Galaxy."
