Rip Torn Arrested for Drunk Driving

Actor Rip Torn has been arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) in North Salem, New York. Torn, who has starred in numerous films including Men In Black and Dodgeball, was arrested after his car was involved in an accident and police were called. According to entertainment website Tmz.com, the 75-year-old refused to cooperate with authorities and would not submit to a blood-alcohol test. In January, 2004, the actor was arrested in New York City after crashing his car into a taxi and charged with DWI. After being taken into custody, he launched into a tirade at police headquarters, but was later found not guilty.
Clooney Takes Blame for Drunken DeVito

Oscar winner George Clooney is happy to take the blame for pal Danny DeVito's intoxicated appearance on talk show The View - but he found his antics hilarious. DeVito appeared drunk on the show last Wednesday after partying with Clooney and the pair's publicist Stan Rosenfeld the night before. Clooney tells USA Today, "Danny is a grown man. I know not to drink too much of it, because it is really strong. Danny kept going after I was done. He clearly got more hammered than I did." The two actors agreed to mention each other on TV talk shows the next day and Clooney was thrilled to see his pal looking the worse for wear on The View. He says, "I came home from doing Live With Regis & Kelly and turned on The View to see Danny say something. The minute he walked out, I thought, 'Boy, this is going to be fun!'" DeVito went on a rant against President George W. Bush calling him "a numbnuts" and described his sexual antics with wife Rhea Perlman when they stayed at The White House. Clooney adds, "I don't think anyone took great offence at it. He is one of the funny drunks in the world as opposed to the angry, mean ones. It actually, truly made me laugh until I cried when I watched him. So I'll take the heat."
Spelling Set To Publish Memoirs

Former Beverly Hills, 90210 star Tori Spelling has signed a deal to write her memoirs, due out in the spring of 2008. The 33-year-old actress, who is expecting her first child with husband Dean McDermott, has not yet informed her family, with whom she's had a tense relationship, about the book. The star has reportedly been estranged from her mother Candy, and describes her relationship with her brother Randy as "OK." She tells USA Today, "I hope that it doesn't cause more damage. Randy's kind of caught in the middle because he has a very close relationship with my mother and a very close relationship with me." As for her mother, she says, "I wish things were different. My mother and I have always had a difficult relationship. There has always been love, and I don't doubt now that there's love." Among the topics she plans to cover in the book are plastic surgery, past relationships, and her treatment in her father Aaron Spelling's last will and testament. When the TV mogul died in June, he left behind an estate estimated to be worth more than $300 million, but Tori reportedly received "less than $1 million." She adds, "You have to take everything with a grain of salt. I'm not ashamed to admit that circumstances have changed, and you work with things the best you can."
Lohan's Mother Pleased About AA Visits
Lindsay Lohan's mother Dina is delighted her daughter has started visiting Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings, hailing the singer/actress as "very smart." Lohan has been a regular of the Hollywood and New York party scene for several years - even though she is still one year shy of the legal drinking age in the United States. On Friday, Lohan's "anonymity" was broken when her publicist admitted the Mean Girls star had been to several meetings. Speaking to American Idol host Ryan Seacrest's KIIS-FM radio show on Friday, Dina stressed her daughter is not an alcoholic, despite admitting she was going to AA. Dina says, "You know, a lot of people she hangs out with go, and it's a positive thing. As a parent, you tell them what you can tell them, but she's 20 and I'm not gonna say, 'Stay home and don't go out, ' that's a ridiculous thing to do. I'm there for support, and I'll obviously give her my opinion, but she's very smart."
Paltrow Proud To Be an American

Oscar winner Gwyneth Paltrow is "deeply upset" over stories claiming she made anti-American remarks in a Portuguese newspaper, and insists she never said anything against her native country. The actress allegedly claimed people in her adopted Britain are more intelligent and civilized than Americans in newspaper DiarioDe Noticias. But the Shakespeare In Love star has been quick to attack the article in which her comments were printed. She fumes, "I feel so lucky to be American. When you look at the rest of the world, we're so lucky, and that's something my dad always instilled in me. I feel so proud to be American. I felt so upset to be completely misconstrued and I never, ever would have said that." Paltrow insists she did not give an interview to the Portuguese newspaper, but did give a press conference in Spanish, which may have caused the confusion. She adds, "I said that Europe is a much older culture and there's a difference. I always say, `In America, people live to work and in Europe, people work to live.' There are positives in both. Obviously I need to go back to seventh-grade Spanish!"
'Prison Break' Star Drunk During Crash?
Prison Break actor Lane Garrison may have been intoxicated when he was involved in a car accident late Saturday night that killed a 17-year-old boy. Garrison, who plays Tweener on the hit TV series, was driving his 2001 Land Rover Sports Utility Vehicle with three teenagers when the accident occurred. The 26-year-old actor reportedly struck a center median while driving in Beverly Hills and lost control of the vehicle, which ended up hitting a tree at 11:52 pm. A 17-year-old male passenger was killed in the accident and his identity has not been released. Two 15-year-old girls were also injured in the crash. One has been released and one is in serious condition at Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. Beverly Hills Police said at a press conference Monday that the star "displayed symptoms of alcohol intoxication" after being involved in the fatal car crash. No charges have been filed yet, but investigators have confirmed that they removed alcohol containers from the SUV, which was registered to the actor. A police source adds, "The investigation into Mr. Garrison's impairment is ongoing."
Murphy Ditches Scary Spice and Demands DNA Test

Hollywood star Eddie Murphy has ditched his Spice Girl lover Mel B and is demanding a DNA test to prove he is the father of her unborn child. The actor made the astonishing claims in an interview, broadcast last night, with Dutch TV show RTL Boulevard to promote his new film Dreamgirls - just a day after the singer claimed the couple were looking forward to spending Christmas together. When asked if he was happy with Mel, who revealed she was pregnant last month, Murphy snapped back, "You're being presumptuous, because we're not together anymore. And I don't know whose child that is, until it comes out and has a blood test. You shouldn't jump to conclusions, sir." The pair started dating in June, just two months after Murphy divorced his wife of seven years Nicole - but their romance blossomed and they quickly introduced the actor's five children to Brown's seven-year-old daughter Phoenix Chi. In September, Murphy declared his strong feelings for the former singer, saying, "I am madly in love with Mel - but there are no wedding plans." And on Sunday, Brown cooed about her six month relationship with the Doctor Dolittle star, gushing, "We're in love and get on really well. All the children have met and get on too - it's like a great big happy family. I can't wait to spend Christmas with him and I can't wait to have this baby."
Urban Still in Rehab

Country star Keith Urban's rehab release has been prematurely announced, according to his publicist. The singer checked himself into counseling sessions in October after confessing he'd relapsed into alcoholism and, despite reports to the contrary, he's still there. Reports of Urban's recovery and release came after he was spotted dining in Los Angeles with wife Nicole Kidman over the weekend. But his publicist, Paul Freundlich, is keen to confirm Urban is still fighting his demons at the Betty Ford Center in Palm Springs, California. In a statement, he reveals, "At this stage in (Keith's) treatment, patients are occasionally allowed to leave (rehab) for short periods of time. Keith is not out of rehab and is not back home in Nashville."
Snoop Dogg Arraignment Postponed

The arraignment for rapper Snoop Dogg on a felony charge of possession of a deadly weapon has been postponed until January 24. The rapper, real name Calvin Broadus, appeared in court yesterday after he was accused of carrying a banned collapsible baton in his luggage. The 35-year-old was arrested at John Wayne Airport in Orange County, California in September and faces three years in jail if convicted. It's not the first time the hip-hop star has brushed with the wrong side of the law. He was also arrested at Bob Hope Airport in Burbank, California in October for allegedly carrying an illegal handgun and possessing marijuana. And just last week, Burbank police arrested him on drug and weapons charges after he taped an appearance on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno.
Bass Breaks Up With Boyfriend

Former 'N Sync star Lance Bass and his boyfriend Reichen Lehmkuhl have split after a series of rows. Bass, who announced he was gay and involved with the model-turned-reality TV star this summer, faces a lonely Christmas after his representative, Cindy Owen, confirmed the split. She says, "They have broken up." Sources close to the couple tell celebrity blogger Perez Hilton the split happened very recently and that it was a mutual decision. One says, "They had been fighting a lot lately. They tried a lot of things to make it work - even opening up the relationship - but they would just fight all the time towards the end. It wasn't working."
Bilson & Brody Split
The OC co-stars Adam Brody and Rachel Bilson have split, according to new US reports. The couple, who play lovers on the hit show, have been dating for over two years. A source tells American publication Life & Style, "They've been done for a few weeks... There's no drama. They just ended it."
