Holmes Cruises Down the Aisle

Actor Tom Cruise married Katie Holmes in a candlelit ceremony at Castello Odescalchi in Bracciano, Italy on Saturday. The couple arrived at the venue separately - Holmes first in a limousine, while the Top Gun star was briefly glimpsed in a black Mercedes van - in the afternoon, but kept press waiting until nearly 8:30pm local time to confirm they were officially husband and wife through Cruise's publicist Arnold Robinson. Holmes walked down the aisle in an Armani dress, while Cruise wore a suit by the same designer at the romantic ceremony in the 15th century castle overlooking Lake Bracciano, just north of the capital Rome. The couple wed in front of celebrity friends, including Victoria Beckham; Andrea Bocelli; Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith; Richard Gere; Brooke Shields and husband Chris Henchy; Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony; Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy and Mission: Impossible III director JJ Abrams. Also in attendance was their seven-month-old daughter Suri and Cruise's adopted children from his marriage to Nicole Kidman - Isabella, 15, and Connor, 11. Cruise was supported by his mother Mary Lee Mapother and sisters Marian, Lee Anne and Cass, while Holmes was walked up the aisle by her lawyer father Martin Holmes. Her mother Kathleen, brother Martin Jr and sisters Tamera, Holly and Nancy were also in attendance. The wedding was the first for Holmes, who ended her engagement to Chris Klein in February 2005, while Cruise has been married twice before; to Mimi Rogers from 1987 to 1990 and Kidman from 1990 until August 2001. Cruise, 44, and Holmes, 27, married on the 18th because the number holds special memories for them - they had their first date on April 18, 2005, their daughter was born on April 18 this year and the Batman Begins beauty's birthday falls on December 18. The couple became engaged at the top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris on June 17, 2005 - just eight weeks after they went public as a couple in Rome.

Washington Explains 'Grey's Anatomy' Spat

Grey's Anatomy star Isaiah Washington has spoken out on TV for the first time after he was left disgraced following a spat on the set of the medical drama. The actor released a statement apologizing for his actions after a tirade with co-star Patrick Dempsey went public, prompting fans to fear his job was in danger - but he has yet to appear on TV to talk about the incident. Washington pulled out of a planned TV interview with Ellen DeGeneres earlier this month, but he couldn't miss out on an Oprah Winfrey set visit to Grey's Anatomy, which aired on TV in America on Friday. And when Winfrey asked him to comment on the spat, Washington opened up. He explained, "It was a combination of fatigue, pride, passion... I've been working with these beautiful men for three years now and we had an argument as brothers. It came about at a time and a place that was overwhelming for both of us and we resolved it easily. What it was not was a brawl, fisticuffs and all that stuff. I lost my cool... It was coming out of a place of trying to stay focused about the work and the one thing I understand about myself and my passion about everything I do is that the opposite of love is indifference... Out of that caring, we got ourselves into a debate that had to happen."

Jolie Bodyguards Arrested After School Fracas

Three bodyguards protecting Angelina Jolie were arrested on Thursday after being accused of "roughing up" children and parents at an Indian school during shooting for new movie A Mighty Heart. The three men have been charged with "insult to religion and threatening to kill" following the incident at the Anjuman-e-Islam school in Mumbai (Bombay). Filming went smoothly until the school gates were opened to allow parents to collect their children, and paparazzi and television crews rushed through the gates to get a shot of Jolie. Mohammed Yusuf Patni, general secretary of the school's Parent Teacher Association, says, "Jolie's bodyguard called one parent, 'You bloody Indian.' Children were pushed around. Mothers were also shoved aside by the guards." However, a statement from Dallington TV, which organized the shoot, reads, "We had the full permission and cooperation of the school to film on the premises. When the gates were opened to allow the parents in to collect their children, the paparazzi rushed the school causing confusion." This is not the first time security staff protecting Jolie, Brad Pitt and their three children have caused controversy since their arrival in India last month. An Associated Press photographer claimed he was punched and threatened with a gun on the A Mighty Heart set last month, and another photographer was allegedly attacked outside Jolie's hotel in Pune just days earlier.

Cohen Hit with Further Legal Trouble

British funnyman Sacha Baron Cohen is facing further legal woes after a US woman who featured in his latest movie claims she was misled. Cindy Streit, who owns an etiquette business, filed a complaint on Thursday with California Attorney General Bill Lockyer, requesting an investigation into possible violations of the California Unfair Trade Practices Act. Streit was approached by a representative from a Los Angeles-based company called Springland Films wishing to arrange an etiquette session for an "international guest from Belarus Television", which later featured in Borat: Cultural Learnings Of America For Make Benefit Glorious Nation Of Kazakhstan. Streit said she arranged both a sit-down session with Borat, played by Cohen, and a dinner party with some of her friends. Clips of both meetings appear in the movie, including an embarrassing toilet incident. She recalls, "I had taught him to excuse himself. He did that correctly and went upstairs. The next thing that happened is that he came down the stairs holding this plastic bag with whatever was in it. My horror was that he had brought a bag of faeces to my dinner table." Gloria Allred, Streit's lawyer, insists her client was told the episode "will be filmed as part of a documentary for Belarus Television and for those purposes only." However, a spokesman for the movie's distributor, 20th Century Fox, brands the claims "nonsense."

Barkin Drenches Ex Perelman

Actress Ellen Barkin made her feelings for ex-husband Ron Perelman clear last week when she drenched the billionaire with a glass of chilled water in a restaurant. The pair, who haven't met since their split in January, were both dining at the same New York restaurant when Perelman approached Barkin's table. Sources tell PageSix.com the actress believed her ex was leaning in for a kiss when she threw the full glass over him, but Perelman maintains he was merely passing her table en route to the bathroom. His spokeswoman says, "It is pitiful that Ms. Barkin has fabricated a reason to justify an unprovoked assault on him." Last month, Barkin auctioned all the jewelry her former husband gave her during their six-year marriage for $20.3 million.

'Spider-Man 3' Trailer Leaked Online

Studio bosses at Sony Pictures are furious after an unfinished trailer for Spider-Man 3 was leaked onto the Internet. The theatrical promo for the Sam Raimi blockbuster shows scenes from the upcoming film and bears the watermark of The Ant Farm, an award-winning trailer house. The clip was not selected as the official trailer, but the leak still has filmmakers up in arms over the breach of security. The Ant Farm co-CEO's Mike Greenfeld and Barbara Glazer insist the leak didn't come from their company. Glazer claims market research groups, dubbing companies, the director and even the original studio could be responsible. She adds, "There are basic flaws within the system that make it impossible to guarantee security. If you don't test them, you stand a much better chance of keeping a trailer secure."

Eccleston Lands Role in 'Heroes'

Christopher Eccleston is to star in US TV series Heroes after wowing US audiences with his portrayal of the Time Lord in cult British TV show Doctor Who. The 42-year-old actor is to appear in the US sci-fi drama, which sees a group of people unite to stop a nuclear explosion after realizing they have superpowers, but bosses won't reveal which part he's signed on to play. However, there are rumors the Gone In Sixty Seconds star could take the role of mystery serial killer Syler. A show insider told British newspaper Daily Star, "Chris is a fantastic actor and we're delighted to have him on board. No one has seen Syler and Christopher could be perfect as the bad guy."

Blaine Unveils Further Stunt Details

David Blaine will spend two days in a spinning gyroscope before attempting to escape from shackles in his latest public stunt. The illusionist revealed his new plans for the New York stunt, which begins later this month, at a press conference on Friday. The 33-year-old will be locked spread eagle into a gyroscope before being dangled 50 feet above Times Square in New York. Blaine will be spun up to eight times every minute for two days, after which he will begin his attempt to escape. Adding more difficulty to the stunt, the 'open' gyroscope will leave Blaine exposed to the harsh New York winter. He says, "Just to make it more difficult on myself, I added a motor (to the gyroscope), so even when I'm sleeping there'll be continuous movement... I think I'm going to have to stay awake the whole time. This one's exciting for me. This one's a fun one." The charity stunt will benefit The Salvation Army.

Flatley on the Mend

Irish dance superstar Michael Flatley has been discharged from hospital despite suffering from a serious viral illness. The Lord Of The Dance star has left the London clinic where he was undergoing treatment for the mystery ailment, but insists he is "on the mend". Flatley's miraculous recovery comes after two weeks of speculation over his condition. The dancer was admitted to hospital two weeks ago when he came down with an illness rumored to be a viral infection. Flatley's condition was deemed so serious he cancelled all 20 European dates of his Celtic Tiger show, but a spokesperson maintains his condition is not life-threatening. It is thought the 48-year-old's illness is unrelated to an earlier diagnosis of facial skin cancer in 2003.

'X-Files' Star Anderson Has Baby Boy

The X-Files actress Gillian Anderson is celebrating becoming a mum for the second time, after giving birth to premature baby boy Oscar. The 38-year-old welcomed her six pound eight ounce son into the world at London's exclusive Portland Hospital on November 1, three weeks before he was due. Anderson and her boyfriend Mark Griffiths have only just publicized the birth because they wanted to wait until Oscar was out of intensive care. Her spokesman says, "Both mother and baby are doing fine now." Anderson already has a 12-year-old daughter, Piper Maru, from her relationship with The X-Files art director Clyde Klotz.
