Cruise & Holmes Make Official Visits As Wedding Approaches
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are getting busy in Italy as they prepare for their nuptials on Saturday, with a series of official visits. The couple spent Tuesday night dining with the Odescalchi family and friends at the Palazzo Odescalchi castle, where they'll wed at the weekend. Yesterday, the Hollywood couple visited City Hall in Rome, Italy, presumably putting the finishing touches to the legal aspects of their wedding.
Loken and Rodriguez in Lesbian Relationship?
Terminator 3 star Kristanna Loken has given her biggest hint yet she is dating Lost actress Michelle Rodriguez. Loken was recently interviewed by gay publication The Advocate, where she was asked about stories linking her with her sexy co-star on the set of BloodRayne. When asked about rumours that the two hooked up during the shoot, Loken laughed and took a deep breath before replying, "There is the $64,000 question. Um...I don't even know how to answer that." She was then asked if the two had fun partying together, Loken replied, "Uh-huh," while smiling slyly. When the interviewer said her silence "said volumes," the actress replied, "Just don't look upstairs, OK?" The couple have been frequently photographed together with their arms around each other in Los Angeles.
Craig's Swimwear Scene a Close Call

New James Bond star Daniel Craig almost didn't get the chance to wow audiences with his toned torso and tight swimwear in Casino Royale, because movie bosses never even wrote the pin-up sea scene. One of the most memorable images from the latest 007 film, which premiered in London Tuesday night, sees Craig emerge out of the ocean in close-fitting blue shorts, much like bikini-clad Ursula Andress' iconic entrance in 1962's Dr No. But producer Barbara Broccoli insists the moment was entirely coincidental. She explains, "Daniel had to go into the sea for a scene. But when he came out all the women on the set gasped. It wasn't intended for the scene to go that way but he made a real impact."
Campbell Back in New York City Court
Naomi Campbell was back in court yesterday, as she unsuccessfully tried to cut a deal on charges she threw a cell phone at her maid over a pair of missing jeans. Campbell was accused of hitting Ana Scolavino in the back of the head with a cell phone in the model's Manhattan apartment. She was treated for a head injury after the accident. Assistant District Attorney Shanda Strain said during the hearing, "We're still in the process of working out a possible disposition." The 36-year-old supermodel stood silently during the short hearing. She is due back in court on January 16. Campbell's lawyer, David Breitbar, said he was considering a plea offer from the Manhattan district attorney's office, but declined to provide details. The model, who didn't speak with reporters after the hearing, wore a formfitting dark gray dress and a black cloth jacket with high-heeled black suede pumps. Breitbart told reporters Campbell hoped to reach an agreement that would only require community service. If convicted on the assault charge, the British beauty could face up to seven years in prison and deportation. On Tuesday Campbell was sued by another former maid who says the model viciously assaulted her.
Jackson Disappoints at World Music Awards
Michael Jackson returned to the stage at a star-studded World Music Awards in London last night, but only managed to sing a few lines of his hit "We Are The World." Jackson was at the event to collect a Diamond Award for selling more than 100 million albums. But what was billed as a spectacular comeback for the world's biggest star fell flat. Fans outside the Earls Court venue were left fuming when Jackson failed to greet them and then revealed he wouldn't be performing - despite reports he would sing live in the British capital for the first time in nine years. Inside, the arena was only half full. The superstar did make it onstage to join a gospel choir performance of the 1985 song he co-wrote with Lionel Richie - but he barely uttered a line. Jackson was presented the Diamond Award by Beyonce Knowles and also a Guinness World Record for Thriller, the biggest selling album of all time. During an emotional speech, Jackson thanked his friends, family and fans. He said, "I'm greatly humbled by this award. It was my dream that thriller would become the biggest selling album ever. I thank God and you for it's success. There have been so many who have loved and stood by me for the 25 years I have been in the entertainment industry. I'd like to thank my children particularly. Paris, Prince Michael and Blanket (Prince Michael II) for their unconditional love. I love all my fans from the bottom of my heart."
Williams Hid Drinking Problem for Three Years

Funnyman Robin Williams hid his alcoholism relapse for three years before checking into rehab in northern California this summer. The Mrs. Doubtfire star admits it took him sweating vodka to realize that others were aware of his drinking problems and decided it was time to seek help. Williams says, "It was over three years and it was the standard thing of, 'I'm OK.' I was so far in denial I was in the Suez. There was a bottle of vodka that was in the refrigerator and I would kinda drink down, thinking no one noticed until it got down to the very bottom, going, 'I don't know what happened, there must be a Russian tooth fairy.' Then, sometimes you put water in there and you realize, 'Idiot, water freezes!' A lot of people drink vodka if they have a drinking problem and they think that it doesn't smell, until you sweat and then even the dog's going, 'Phew, outside man.'"
Spears' Family Held Divorce Intervention
Britney Spears' family pleaded with the pop star to divorce husband Kevin Federline after a particularly volatile argument. The star attended Federline's Playing With Fire launch party in Los Angeles on October 31 where the couple got into an explosive argument, leaving Spears in tears. A source tells American publication Us Weekly, "She came to support him and he treated her like s**t." The following day, Spears' close-knit family went to her home in Malibu to convince her to begin divorce proceedings against Federline. Spears mother attended the meeting, along with divorce attorney Laura Wasser, who had drafted Spears' prenuptial agreement. According to the source, "Kevin was never popular with anyone around Britney. She finally wised up."
Minnelli Plays Bat Mitzvah for Free
Liza Minnelli performed at a Bat Mitzvah celebration for the daughter of US hair transplant pioneer Dr. Joel Kassimir on Saturday - and waived her usual $250,000 fee. The 60-year-old performed five songs at Charlotte Kassimir's coming of age ceremony at New York's Marquee club, which was decorated with pink and white crystals by designer Ed Libby at a cost of $1 million. A source tells the New York Post, "Liza is an old family friend and did it as a favor. She can command $250,000 a show and usually doesn't get out of bed for less than that." Minnelli, watched by guests including former champion boxer Lennox Lewis, told Charlotte, "Enjoy being a girl because life goes by in a snap."
Flatley Seriously Ill in Hospital

Dance superstar Michael Flatley is reportedly seriously ill in a London hospital suffering from a mystery illness. The Lord Of The Dance star is believed to have been taken ill while rehearsing for the show's forthcoming European tour. He has been admitted to a private hospital in the English capital and all tour dates have been cancelled. Flatley reportedly first visited the hospital two weeks ago. Flatley's spokesperson has refused to comment on his condition - but it is thought to be linked to a facial cancer scare the 49-year-old revealed earlier this year, but believed he had been cured of. Father Aidan Troy, a close friend of Flatley, says of the reports, "I'm shocked. I thought initially it may be exhaustion or stress." Just last month Flatley married his Celtic Tiger leading lady Niamh O'Brien. His wife is understood to be at his hospital bedside.
Richie Denies Gastric Surgery Rumors
Nicole Richie has slammed reports she had a gastric band fitted but had to have it removed after losing too much weight. Earlier this week, the New York Post published a story claiming an unnamed "Hollywood starlet" underwent gastric surgery and then had the procedure removed, and subsequent reports have identified The Simple Life star as the person in question. But her representative tells People, "It is not Nicole. There are a ton of 'Hollywood starlets'."
