Romanian 'Borat' Extras Taking Legal Action

British funnyman Sacha Baron Cohen has been threatened with legal action by the Romanian village which stood in for his comic creation Borat's native Kazakhstan in his hit movie. Gypsy citizens of Glod are outraged that Cohen ridiculed their lifestyle in Borat: Cultural Learnings Of America For Make Benefit Glorious Nation Of Kazakhstan, which has topped international box offices, and paid them a pittance to allow farm animals into their homes. Local leader Nicolae Staicu will meet with a public ombudsman today to formulate legal action against Cohen and distributor 20th Century Fox. Staicu accused the producers of paying locals just $4 to perform degrading acts, misleading the village into thinking filming was for a documentary and refusing to sign proper filming contracts. Resident Dana Luca, 40, says, "We thought they came here to help us - not mock us. We haven't got anything here. We haven't got running water. We can't even bathe. We are poor people, but we are still people."
Winfrey Not Invited to Cruise-Holmes Wedding
Tom Cruise may have famously jumped on Oprah Winfrey's couch to declare his love for fiancee Katie Holmes, but Winfrey won't be attending the couple's wedding in Italy on Saturday. The celebrity couple and their entourage arrived in the European country on Monday and are reportedly getting married in a castle on Lake Bracciano. Winfrey tells US entertainment show Extra, "It's not that I'm not going. It's that they had a limited number of people that they could invite. I was not one of the invitees. That's fine. I don't get invited to everyone's wedding. I don't invite them to everything I do. But I wish them the best." Although the media mogul won't be attending the actual ceremony, she will be sending a wedding present. She adds, "I have a great deal of regard for their relationship and so I'm trying to think of what to get them. I was thinking...I'm easier (to shop for) - you can get me a bubble bath I'm okay - but I don't know what to give them!"
Naomi Campbell Faces Court Ultimatum
Naomi Campbell will be arrested if she fails to attend a court hearing in New York today, where she faces assault charges. Campbell has a history of court no-shows and missed the last hearing in September - but her lawyer David Breitbart insists the supermodel will turn up. Breitbart promises, "There's no question about that in my mind." The charges stem form an incident in March this year when the tempestuous catwalk queen allegedly threw a cell phone at her housekeeper. Campbell pleaded not guilty at a preliminary hearing in June. If the case goes to trial, the 36-year-old faces a maximum jail sentence of seven years. Campbell is currently facing a lawsuit from another former employee, Gaby Gibson, who accuses the model of personal injury, assault and employment discrimination.
'Desperate Housewives' Star Fights Lawsuit
Nicollette Sheridan's bitter legal dispute with her former manager looks set to continue after the Desperate Housewives star called for a postponement or a dismissal of his breach of contract lawsuit. Rob Lee has alleged the actress, girlfriend of crooner Michael Bolton, reneged on a verbal agreement requiring her to pay him 10 per cent of her gross income and then fired him in 2004 to avoid shelling out the agreed-upon sum. Lee also stated that he was the one who guided Sheridan through her career renaissance, first urging the former Knots Landing star to audition for Desperate Housewives and then talking her into showing up for the crucial second audition, which won her the part of Edie Britt. Sheridan, however, has filed papers with the Californian state agency claiming that Lee, who does business under the label of Bayonne Entertainment, was not licensed as a talent agent when they worked together, thereby voiding any contract they entered into at the time. A hearing to discuss the actress' request and other issues pertaining to the case is scheduled for November 29.
Zellweger: "Marrying Kenny Was Biggest Mistake Of My Life"
Cold Mountain Oscar winner Renee Zellweger has broken her silence over her 128-day marriage to country singer Kenny Chesney, declaring the relationship "the biggest personal mistake of my life." The Chicago actress stunned fans and the media when she wed Chesney on the island of St. John in the Caribbean's Virgin Islands on May 9, 2005, after a whirlwind four-month courtship. Zellweger filed for an annulment of the marriage just four months later, citing "fraud" as the reason for the couple's split. The annulment was granted the following December. Speaking for the first time about her failed marriage, Zellweger tells British magazine Now, "There was no alternative but to let it go. I made the biggest personal mistake of my life. I felt a fool. I was looking for something else. I just needed to put acting aside. I needed to sit still and not to worry about the dresses and the hair and the travel and the interviews. I was going through huge life changes at the time. I wanted to stop and be a girl for a while. My marriage came during this time and it was desperately important to me. I don't want anyone to think I didn't take it seriously." Zellweger admits Chesney did not approve when the actress invited her close friend to stay in their Hamptons, New York farmhouse soon after their marriage. She explains, "There was no acceptance of my life or my friends. My friend was pregnant, with her husband and young kid. She was doing up her house for the new baby."
Anderson Defends Richards
Pamela Anderson has stuck up for her friend Denise Richards after the star's run-in with the paparazzi in Canada last week. Richards grabbed a photographer's laptop and threw it over the balcony of the set of Blonde And Blonder at the River Rock Casino And Hotel in Richmond, British Columbia, where it landed on an 80-year-old pensioner in a wheelchair, leaving her slightly bruised. The actress has been criticized for her tantrum, but former Baywatch babe Anderson insists she was provoked by rude, harassing snappers. Anderson writes in her online diary, "Can't believe set is surrounded by loser paparazzi - not Canadian - all American and European. Leave us alone. They are being super idiots. Yelling rude stuff. They need to really go home. What is the big deal? All these big hairy men attacking us girls. Paparazzi were shouting out, 'No wonder you can't keep a relationship together' to Denise. Denise walked up to them. They threatened her and something happened. A computer bounced off the floor and pieces went everywhere, from what I hear. Thank God no one was hurt. I didn't see it as I was too busy yelling at my producer for something else that got leaked out in press. Normally I don't care, but I feel protective of Denise - I can relate. If it were me I would've thrown the photographers over the edge - they got lucky."
Spears Heads Home to Louisiana
Britney Spears abandoned a recording trip to Miami, Florida last weekend to spend time with her family in Louisiana instead. The star filed from divorce from husband Kevin Federline on November 7 and the couple is now involved in a bitter battle to secure custody of their two young sons Sean Preston, 14 months, and Jayden James, two months. Producer Pharrell Williams confirmed he was going into the studio with Spears to continue working on her new album, but she reportedly had a change of heart at the last minute and decided to spend quality time with her family after her emotional week. Spears enjoyed dinner on Monday night at a restaurant in her hometown of Kentwood, Louisiana accompanied by members of her family and was photographed kissing son Sean Preston on the head when he began to cry. During her stay, she also paid a visit to longtime family friend Nyla Price, 55, who owns Nyla's Burger Basket in nearby Osyka, Mississippi, a Spears family favourite, along with her kids and other friends and family. Price tells American publication People, "(Spears is) a wonderful mother and she's doing great right now. She looks beautiful with her cute little short hair cut. She's happy and doing just fine. The babies are gorgeous - both of them are so adorable." According to sources, Spears and her sons left Kentwood yesterday.
Garner Is a Healthy Mom
Alias beauty Jennifer Garner insists she slimmed down after childbirth by breastfeeding, because she had no intention of abandoning her daughter to hit the gym. Garner, who is married to Hollywood heartthrob Ben Affleck, gave birth to Violet in December last year and refused to put her child at risk by exhausting her body with an intense exercise regime. The 34-year-old says, "(I lost weight) breastfeeding! That and a moderate exercise and eating plan with the help of my personal trainer. I wasn't about to jump on the celebrity mum bandwagon of getting super-skinny, super-quickly. I am more concerned about keeping healthy and spending time with Violet than anything else."
Farrow Campaigns in Chad

Crusading actress Mia Farrow has arrived in the African nation of Chad to raise awareness of the plight of people in neighboring war-torn Sudan. The Rosemary's Baby star, an ambassador for the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), is scheduled to visit a refugee camp but also hopes to journey to a town in east Chad where villagers told UN relief workers they were attacked by a 200-strong group of Arabs on horseback, with accompanying vehicles. She says, "If possible, I want also to go to the region of Goz Beida to witness and report what is happening there. I'm here to witness the suffering and go back to the United States to report it, to make people aware of this situation." Farrow has already visited Darfur twice. Civil war erupted in the region when rebels took up arms in February 2003. A string of other stars including George Clooney, Sir Bob Geldof and Heather Mills have also been campaigning for foreign intervention in the crisis in recent months.
Aguilera To Appear on 'CSI: NY'

Pop star Christina Aguilera is set to guest star on CSI: New York in February. The episode will feature a storyline about battered women, which is an issue close to Aguilera's heart - she grew up in an abusive home and is a major contributor to a women's shelter in her hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. CSI executive producer Anthony Zuiker tells TV Guide magazine, "Christina's a fan of the show, and we're excited to have her. The episode will probably explore the topic of battered women." The "Ain't No Other Man" singer isn't expected to play herself. Aguilera's music will also be featured in the episode.
