Washington Apologizes for Dempsey Fight

Grey's Anatomy star Isaiah Washington has apologized to his co-stars following his heated argument with Patrick Dempsey on the set of the medical drama earlier this month. Washington, who plays Dr. Preston Burke, and Dempsey, who plays Dr. Derek Shepherd, came to blows over shooting issues, but soon resolved their problems. Following the incident, rumors surfaced Washington had used a homophobic slur during the argument. Ten days later their co-star TR Knight, who plays Dr. George O'Malley, revealed he was gay. In a statement to People magazine, Washington says, "I sincerely regret my actions and the unfortunate use of words during the recent incident on-set. Both are beneath my own personal standards. I have nothing but respect for my co-workers and have apologized personally to everyone involved."

Madonna Blasts Media for "Terrorizing" Baby's Father

Madonna has accused the world's media of turning "simple" Malawian farmer Yohane Banda's life upside down by terrorizing him for comments after the pop star adopted his baby son David. The singer admits she's appalled by the lengths reporters are going to to try and obtain damning comments about her from the father of her adopted son. Appearing on America's The Oprah Winfrey Show yesterday, Madonna said she is "disappointed" by press attacks on her, but insists she isn't angry by comments Yohane Banda has allegedly made to the media, suggesting he was confused by the adoption process and didn't realize his son would be taken away from Malawi. She said, "We had a hearing altogether with an interpreter... and he looked into my eyes and said to me that he was very grateful that I was going to give his son a life and that, had he kept his son with him in the village, he would have buried him. I didn't really need any more confirmation that I was doing the right thing and I had his blessing... I sat in that room, I looked into that man's eyes. I believe that the press is manipulating this information out of him. I believe, at this point in time, that he's been terrorized by the media, that they have asked him things repeatedly, that they have put words in his mouth and that they have spun a story that is completely false. This is a simple man... who has nothing and suddenly he's sieged (sic) by the media of the world and they have spun things out of control and brought nothing but chaos to his life." Madonna insisted she will make sure the son she will officially adopt after an 18-month monitoring period is no stranger to his father or his homeland. She plans to return to Malawi, where she has set up a charity foundation, at least once a year - and her adopted son will join her. She added, "I will give David an education and a chance for a better life and what better way for him to go back and help his own people and help the Malawians and be a voice for his country."

Journalists Fired for Trespassing on Pitt Property

Two journalists from US TV network E! have been fired after they were found trespassing on Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's Hollywood Hills home. The TV reporters allegedly unchained a gate at the back of the couple's estate before entering the grounds, where they were spotted by construction workers maintaining the building. A spokesman for the Troy star says he plans to file criminal charges against the TV crew. A statement from E! says the camera operator and producer have been fired. It reads, "E! Networks did not instruct or authorize anyone working on its program to improperly intrude onto private property, and the individuals involved have been terminated." Pitt and Jolie are currently filming in India, so were not at home when the incident took place.

Portman Dons Hepburn's Black Dress

Closer Oscar nominee Natalie Portman has given an Indian charity a boost by donning a 35-year-old Givenchy dress for the cover of the November issue of style magazine Harper's Bazaar. The Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith star wears the little black dress that was worn by Audrey Hepburn in cult film Breakfast At Tiffany's in the hope of prompting style fans to spend more money when the outfit is auctioned off in December. Proceeds from the auction, on December 5, will go to City Of Joy Aid - a charity organization that helps India's poor. The dress is expected to fetch upwards of $94,000.

Campbell Arrested for "Assault"

Naomi Campbell has been arrested after her female drugs counselor accused the supermodel of attacking her. The 36-year-old beauty was taken to a police station in central London yesterday, after being arrested on suspicion of assault at an address in the British capital's Westminster district. Police officers visited the location where the alleged incident took place at 1:00 on Wednesday. The unnamed counselor was reportedly scratched all over her face. A spokesman for Campbell says "there has been a misunderstanding." He adds, "We are sure it will all be sorted out when the police investigate." Campbell is currently fighting three lawsuits, all filed by former employees, who claim the supermodel assaulted them.

'Borat' Screenings Slashed in the US

British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen's controversial new comedy movie has been cut from more than half the 2,000 US cinemas it was supposed to debut in this weekend over fears film fans won't get the comic's Borat character. In the film, Borat: Cultural Learnings Of America For Make Great Benefit Glorious Nation Of Kazakhstan, Cohen plays an offensive Kazakhstan TV journalist trying to get to grips with life in America. The movie has already upset politicians in Kazakhstan, who insist the comedian's character paints a terrible picture of their country, and now film distributors in the US fear cinemagoers will find the movie more offensive than funny. The film was scheduled to open in 2,000 cinemas across America on Friday, but it will now bow in only 700. Movie executives at Twentieth Century Fox pulled the plug on the wide opening after the film tested poorly. Distribution official Bruce Snyder tells the Los Angeles Times newspaper, "Our research showed it was soft in awareness." Fox bosses hope to add cinemas a week after the film opens.

Phillippe and Witherspoon Keep Screen Separation

Hollywood couple Ryan Phillippe and Reese Witherspoon have no plans to co-star in a film together, following Cruel Intentions seven years ago. The pair met at the Oscar winner's 21st birthday party in 1997 and went on to play lovers in the thriller in 1999 - the same year they married and Witherspoon gave birth to their first child Ava Elizabeth. Crash heartthrob Phillippe says, "Sometimes I think it's a little cleaner to, at least at this stage in our lives, keep that stuff separate. I'd never write anything off completely, but I just feel like there's something to be said for the individuality and mystery of doing things on your own."

Wright Penn: "I'm Not Retired"

The Princess Bride star Robin Wright Penn has rubbished reports she has retired from acting, insisting she is biding her time and choosing her movie roles carefully. The wife of actor Sean Penn has deliberately stayed out of the Hollywood spotlight, turning down roles in big blockbusters like Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves, The Firm, and Batman Forever. Instead, Wright Penn has taken on parts in smaller movies including her new movie Breaking And Entering. She says, "It's not that I don't want to work... I do want to work, but I want to work, not jack off."

Kidman's Sister Spends Urban's Birthday With Actress

Nicole Kidman's sister has jetted to the actress' side to help her cope with the news her husband Keith Urban has checked himself into rehab to battle alcoholism. Pregnant Antonia Kidman flew out of Sydney, Australia yesterday, according to local media reports, so she could spend what her sister and her country star husband had hoped would be their first birthday celebration as man and wife. Urban turns 39 today. Aussie TV personality Antonia has reportedly rescheduled filming on her upcoming series From Here To Maternity. Urban will spend his birthday alone at a Nashville, Tennessee drug and alcohol treatment facility.

Hollywood Couple To Play Ex-Lovers on TV

Newlyweds Thomas Jane and Patricia Arquette are set to team up on the small screen as former lovers. The Punisher star Jane will play his real-life wife's ex-boyfriend in upcoming episodes of the actress' hit US psychic drama Medium. The couple married during a European vacation in Venice, Italy in June.
