Longoria Injured on 'Housewives' Set
Eva Longoria was injured on Wednesday on the set of her hit TV show Desperate Housewives. Longoria, who plays saucy Gabrielle Solis on the show, was leaving her dressing room when she fell down some stairs. According to Longoria's publicist Liza Anderson, "Yesterday Eva slipped on one of the stairs coming out of her trailer. She was taken to St Joseph's hospital in Burbank (California) for x-rays. Nothing is broken, but her ribs are very bruised. She expects to return to work as scheduled." Anderson said the Texan beauty was still planning to fly to France to meet up with her boyfriend, NBA player Tony Parker. The star has denied reports that the couple have officially broken up and is joining him in Paris where he is playing in a few exhibition basketball games. This is the second injury Longoria has suffered on the Wisteria Lane soundstage. In August 2005, she was rushed to the hospital after being hit in the head by a falling pole.
Fawcett Pleads for Privacy As Stars Send Their Love

Actress Farrah Fawcett has confirmed press reports she is battling cancer, as her celebrity friends send their best wishes to her. The former Charlie's Angels star, 59, has been diagnosed with cancer of the intestine and is currently undergoing radiation treatment. Confirming a report in this week's National Enquirer tabloid, Fawcett said, "Please respect my privacy at this challenging time." Former Beverly Hills, 90210 actress Tori Spelling, whose late father Aaron Spelling produced Charlie's Angels, says, "I love Farrah, I had no idea. Our thoughts are with her, wishing her the best and a speedy recovery." Comedian Robin Williams adds, "I send you much love and I say a prayer, too."
'Cleopatra Jones' Actress Dobson Dies
Cleopatra Jones actress Tamara Dobson died in Baltimore, Maryland, on Monday. She was 59. According to Dobson's brother, she died from complications arising from multiple sclerosis and pneumonia. She was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis six years ago. Dobson found success as a professional model in the early 1970s before making her movie debut in 1972's Fuzz. But she will always be best remembered for her role as Cleopatra Jones in the 1973 movie. The character was the inspiration behind Beyonce Knowles turn as Foxxy Cleopatra in 2002's Austin Powers In Goldmember.
Richie and Jenner Split
Nicole Richie and Brody Jenner have ended their three month relationship, according to Richie's spokesperson - and the TV star insists they were "never really together." The couple have known each other since they were toddlers, but only started dating in August. Richie's representative confirmed the split to American publication People, saying, "Nicole and Brody are no longer dating, but remain friends." The pair began seeing each other just weeks after Jenner, 23, ended his 18 month relationship with Laguna Beach star Kristin Cavallari and months after Richie, 25, broke up with Adam Goldstein. A source close to Richie claims Jenner's interest in being in the spotlight was an issue, saying, "Brody likes to go out and doesn't mind being photographed, but Nicole prefers to stay out of the press." On Wednesday, Richie posted a message on her MySpace.com website saying, "I know there are rumors regarding my 'break-up' with Brody Jenner. The truth is, we were never really together. We hung out, and he's a nice guy, but my heart was never in it. Anything further is just a cry for publicity."
Basinger To Go To Trial in January
Kim Basinger will stand trial in January 2007 charged with disregarding court orders over her ex-husband Alec Baldwin's visitation rights with their daughter. The Oscar-winning actress, 52, and Baldwin, 48, agreed to share custody of 10-year-old Ireland in 2004 - four years after their divorce . Baldwin accuses his ex-wife of blocking his visitation rights and failing to notify him when Ireland was injured and needed medical treatment in 2005. Basinger pleaded innocent through her attorney Neil Hersh as she was arraigned in Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday. If convicted, the LA Confidential beauty could spend up to two months in jail and receive a $12,000 fine. Court Commissioner Maren E. Nelson has set a tentative trial start date for January 15. Baldwin's lawyer Vicki Greene says her client intends to be one of the witnesses in the trial.
Streisand Mocks Bush on Opening Night
Barbra Streisand peppered the opening night of her comeback tour in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with a series of digs aimed at President George W. Bush. The 64-year-old is a staunch Democrat and is still appalled that Bush was elected to the most powerful position in the world despite doubts over the crucial result in Florida in 2000. The concert at the Wachovia Center featured a political satire sketch where an actor playing the Republican president reeled off lines including, "I'm concerned about the national debt, so I'm selling Canada," and, "If I cared about the polls I would have run for president of Poland." Streisand has come out of retirement for a series of shows to raise money for a charitable foundation which supports a number of environmental and educational causes.
Winfrey Collapses from Heat Exhaustion

Talk show giant Oprah Winfrey collapsed from heat exhaustion during a recent visit to her hometown of Kosciusko, Mississippi. The 52-year-old was in town for the opening ceremony of Oprah Winfrey Boys & Girls Club, when temperatures pushing 100 degrees Fahrenheit and high humidity caused her to feel unwell. An onlooker tells US publication National Enquirer, "Just as Oprah was about to cut the ribbon, she collapsed. She was getting dizzier and dizzier, she started sweating profusely and her vision became blurred. Her knees were buckling under her and she nearly blacked out. Oprah quickly stepped back and found a seat. She tried to revive herself by putting cool compresses on her head and drinking liquids. Oprah made light of the situation, telling everyone it was due to the heat."
Weaver Suffers Knee Injury
Gorillas in the Mist actress Sigourney Weaver has been forced to stop exercising for a year after injuring her knee during the shooting of upcoming movie Snow Cake. The 56-year-old actress was filming a scene in which she had to jump on a trampoline when the accident occurred. She says, "They had to shoot that scene really fast, and there was no time to warm up. I hurt both knees and I've been in physical therapy for months. Having to take a year off from working out was tough. I've missed it. I've put on eight pounds, which I'm looking forward to losing. You have to learn what not to do with your knees."
Gardner and Sinatra Thief Sentenced

A woman has been sentenced to 30 months for stealing prized heirlooms and original Frank Sinatra recordings from the estate of late Hollywood star Ava Gardner. Prosecutors say Renee Sykes took more than $1 million worth of property between 2001 and 2005, when she worked as a nurse caring for Gardner's older sister, Myra Pearce. Gardner's closest living relative inherited the estate after the actress died in 1990. Her property included souvenirs from Ava's marriages to actor Mickey Rooney bandleader Artie Shaw and Sinatra.
Neck Injury Stops Nicholson Promoting 'The Departed'

Hollywood veteran Jack Nicholson is bed-ridden with a mysterious neck injury, leaving him unable to promote new movie The Departed. The 69-year-old strained his neck badly when he attended the New York City premiere of the Martin Scorsese gangster film at the Ziegfeld Theatre on 26 September, according to PageSix.com. A friend says, "We don't know exactly what is wrong, but something is wrong with his neck."
