Gibson Makes Public Appearance at Native American Screenings
Mel Gibson has come out of hiding to promote his new movie Apocalypto. The moviemaker made his first public appearances since his drink driving arrest in July at screenings of his new film in Oklahoma on Thursday and Friday. Gibson insisted his appearance at screenings held at the Riverwind Casino in Goldsby and Cameron University in Lawton be kept under wraps, and he refused to speak to press who discovered the Braveheart star would be there. Local reporters were kept behind partitions as Gibson sat and watched the screenings with Native American groups. The actor's publicist Jhane Myers says her client was "deeply touched by the warm reception he has received while in Oklahoma." Gibson, who co-wrote and directed Apocalypto, had reportedly pulled out of the screenings earlier last week.
Keith Richards "Drunk" on 'Pirates of the Caribbean' Set
Keith Richards appearance in the second Pirates Of The Caribbean sequel descended into chaos after he reportedly got so drunk on the movie set, the film's director had to prop him up. The hellraising Rolling Stones guitarist finally shot his long awaited cameo as Johnny Depp's father in Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End earlier this summer, but he is unlikely to remember the occasion which concluded months of speculation. Bill Nighy, who plays Davy Jones in the film, tells Empire Online that Richards was inebriated by the time the production team retrieved him from his trailer to shoot his scene, and he required a little support from director Gore Verbinski. The 62-year-old rocker is reported to have remarked, "If you wanted straight, then you got the wrong man."
Cruise Comforts Distraught Beckham
Tom Cruise comforted David Beckham after the devastated soccer superstar was dropped from the England team last month. Beckham announced his resignation as England captain following the side's World Cup exit in July, and was then axed from the national squad by new coach Steve McClaren. And among the first people Beckham called was his friend Cruise, who in the past has flown to Spain to watch him play for Real Madrid. Beckham says, "When I got to America I phoned Tom. He's a great guy to be able to speak to because he is a very positive-minded person. It is good to have people around you at that point. He talked about everything I had done in the World Cup, about the goal I scored and the goals I set up. He said I was a great player, that I played for Real Madrid, I've got a healthy family and three boys and a wife who love me to bits. He's a great example of someone who stays positive through everything. And that's how I started to get over what had happened with the England news. I got over it that way, with friends around me."
Bullock Film Company Sues Mental Health Agency
Sandra Bullock is suing Tennessee's mental health agency to ensure it notifies her when her alleged stalker is released from a mental health institution. The suit, which was filed last week on behalf of her film company Fortis Films, does not seek financial damages but calls for the agency's agreement to alert Bullock when Thomas James Weldon is released from Middle Tennessee Mental Health Institute. The lawsuit describes Weldon's "fixation on a certain employee of Fortis Films Inc." Weldon is under court order in California to stay at least 200 feet away from Bullock since 2003, and the order has been extended until 2009. Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities spokeswoman Jill Hudson claims not to have seen the lawsuit and declined to comment.
Lohan Slams Split Reports

Angry Lindsay Lohan has hit back at US reports she and boyfriend Harry Morton have split, insisting the rumors are "not true." Reports circulated on Friday that the Mean Girls star had been dumped by the Hard Rock Cafe heir because she was "too much drama." Lohan has instructed her publicist to kill the rumor, claiming the couple is still an item. Lohan and Morton began dating in July. Morton was recently photographed consoling his girlfriend after she had reported her handbag and jewelry missing at London's Heathrow Airport.
Crawford's Kid Controversy

Supermodel Cindy Crawford has caused controversy by allowing her five-year-old daughter to model a new swimwear range. Kaya, Crawford's daughter with Rande Gerber, poses topless and in a string bikini, showing off a tattoo on her lower back in the ads for Melissa Odabash beachwear. Odabash has been inundated with so much criticism, the company has removed the pictures of Kaya from its website. Spokesperson Roberta Correia says, "We've gotten calls from all over the place. Unfortunately, we are not able to release any of the pictures or info on the Melissa Odabash shoot. The pictures are actually no longer going to be on the website." But Crawford's representative insists the issue has been blown out of proportion, telling PageSix.com, "Oh my God, that's ridiculous. It's a stick-on tattoo." She even claimed the pictures weren't meant to be used in adverts, adding, "Cindy's friends own this company. It was just a fun little photo shoot they did in Malibu one day. Kaya is not modeling."
"I'm a Democrat," Insists Willis
Bruce Willis has dismissed his "Hollywood Republican" reputation, insisting his political beliefs go far deeper. Confusion over the movie hardman's politics was sparked when he reportedly backed the war in Iraq, and even made an appearance with US President George W. Bush at the White House. But now he's keen to be seen as a staunch Democrat, according to the New York Daily News. He says, "I'm always being accused of being a Hollywood Republican - but I'm not! I have just as many Democratic ideas as Republican ones. If they could build three fewer bombs every month and give the money to foster care, that would be great."
