Lohan Hospitalized with Wrist Fracture

Hollywood starlet Lindsay Lohan has been rushed to the hospital again after fracturing her wrist in a fall on Friday. The Mean Girls star was taken to St. Vincent's hospital in New York, after slipping at the city's Milk Studios during a New York Fashion Week event. Lohan's publicist, Leslie Sloane Zelnick, confirms the actress' wrist was fractured in two places when she fell over walking in an outdoor area in flat boots. She adds, "there's a pending investigation" to determine whether Milk Studios took adequate health and safety precautions with the ground. Lohan's hectic work schedule is expected to be affected by the accident, and Sloane Zelnick warns, "Lawyers are looking into (the situation)." The 20-year-old was last hospitalized in Los Angeles in July after suffering from heatstroke and exhaustion on the set of her new movie, Georgia Rule. She started the year off in hospital after a severe asthma attack on January 2 left her gasping for breath and in need of medical attention. Later the same month she needed 10 stitches in her shin after falling on a broken cup at rocker Bryan Adams' home in London.
Clooney Lectures United Nations
George Clooney has delivered a speech to the United Nations Security Council, urging them to act on the continuing violence in Sudan. The Oscar winner warned members that genocide in the country's Darfur region was taking place on their "watch." Speaking at a special informal session hosted by the UN's US ambassador John Bolton, Clooney - who spent time in Darfur in April - also warned if UN troops don't enter the region by October 1 "aid workers will have to leave and if they leave that leaves a couple of million people with absolutely nothing." He said, "I'm here to represent the voices of the people who cannot speak for themselves. We know how difficult a task this is... but you are the UN and this is the task that you have been given. It is the first genocide of the 21st Century and if it continues unchecked, it will not be the last. How you deal with it is your legacy. It's your Rwanda - your Cambodia - your Auschwitz. We are one 'yes' away from ending it." Sudan rejected the last resolution to move 20,000 UN troops into the region.
Penn & Law Celebrate New Orleans Recovery with Film Premiere
Sean Penn and Jude Law thrilled New Orleans, Louisiana on Saturday when they took their new film premiere to the devastated city - to say thanks to the people who helped them make it. Filming on All The King's Men wrapped just before Hurricane Katrina lashed the Gulf Coast last summer, and Penn and Law felt it would serve the community well to stage a big movie screening there. Hundreds of fans turned out to greet the actors and co-star Kate Winslet at Tulane University. On the red carpet, Law said, "The city welcomed us with such open arms and after Katrina, it was even more important that we come here." Director Steven Zaillian was proud to be back in New Orleans: "It's something everyone wanted to do. It just seemed right." Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco used the film's premiere to personally thank Penn for his personal efforts in the days following the storms. Penn was among the first celebrities to visit the devastated region and helped volunteers and rescue workers seek out survivors, clean up the damage and find refuge for the homeless. The movie star received a standing ovation after Blanco made her comments known. Another preview screening of the film is scheduled for Tuesday in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where part of the movie was filmed.
Penn Escapes Smoking Punishment

Actor Sean Penn has escaped charges for breaking an anti-smoking ban in Canada, while the hotel he lit up in has been slapped with a fine. The Oscar winner puffed on a cigarette during a press conference in a hotel at the Toronto Film Festival last week, where he was promoting new movie All The King's Men. In the state of Ontario smoking is banned in all enclosed public places. Although politicians and anti-tobacco campaigners called for him to be charged by police, he has escaped with just a written warning from Toronto public health officials. Despite the leniency, Ontario Health Promotion Minister Jim Watson insists, "We don't have a system in Canada where we have preferential treatment for someone who's famous or rich. We welcome stars and mere mortals and everyone else to Ontario and they have to respect our laws." The Toronto Sutton Place Hotel, where the incident took place, must pay $540 for the violation.
'Bella' Scoops Top Award In Toronto

A first-time director from Mexico has shocked critics by picking up the top award at this year's Toronto Film Festival in Canada for his romantic drama Bella. Alejandro Gomez Monteverde, 29, was voted favorite by movie-goers and his film scooped the prestigious People's Choice award on Saturday. The stunned director said, "I really hope that this is not a dream and that I don't wake up at film school. This festival is my first festival, it's my first film, it's my first everything." Bella beat out stiff competition from Patrice Leconte's Mon Meilleur Ami and the politically charged Dixie Chicks: Shut Up And Sing. The critics' best film prize went to the controversial mock documentary Death Of A President, which imagines the assassination of Us President George W. Bush. The jury said it was noted "for the audacity with which it distorts reality to reveal a larger truth."

Barrymore Not Embarrassed by Dress Debacle
Drew Barrymore insists she felt no embarrassment after being mocked for wearing a green dress without a bra to the Golden Globe Awards earlier this year, and will continue to take fashion risks. The Charlie's Angels beauty suffered widespread criticism when she wore the unflattering bright green outfit, which seemed to allow her breasts to droop dramatically. The actress was quick to poke fun at herself and appeared on sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live spoofing herself soon after the incident. She explains she takes the fashion criticism in her stride: "I've gotten ripped plenty, and I just say, 'Oh, well.' I don't regret those moments, because they're kind of what define you. I mean, I wore daisies in my hair to the Academy Awards once and people were vomiting on the floors, but that won't ever stop me. I love rolling with it."
