Holmes "Heartbroken" Over Malicious Gossip
Katie Holmes has been devastated by the rumors and gossip surrounding the birth of her baby Suri and her relationship with Tom Cruise. The first photo of five-month-old Suri posing with her parents appears on the cover of the October issue of Vanity Fair magazine in the US. The 27-year-old tells the magazine that gossip about her family, "eats away at me because it's just not okay... Some of the crap that's out there - the stuff that's said about my parents and my siblings (implying that they didn't approve of her relationship with Cruise) - it's really frustrating the amount of s**t that's out there. And the stuff they say about Suri? You shouldn't say that about us, and you can't say that about my child." Holmes says she feels compelled to read tabloid stories because, "This is my future. This is my family, and I care so much about them. To see how someone as caring and good as Tom is - to see how things just get so twisted and turned around. I mean, where does it come from?" The former Dawson's Creek star was also humiliated by the media coverage she received when she was expecting adding, "(I) was overjoyed being pregnant, and then had to withstand ridicule about my pregnancy when it was the most normal, non-controversial thing imaginable."

The Mask co-stars Jim Carrey and Cameron Diaz are reuniting for the romantic comedy A Little Game. This will be the first time the two have worked together since the 1994 film in which Carrey played a bank clerk who is transformed into a superhero when he dons a mysterious mask. The pair will play an engaged Manhattan couple who devise an experiment to see how their friends really feel about their relationship. They soon discover that their pals believe they are a poor match. The film is adapted from a French play and will begin shooting next month in New York City.
Locklear and Spade Split
Heather Locklear and David Spade are taking a break from their six-month relationship, according to media reports in the US. The couple were first spotted kissing at an afterparty for Spade's series Showbiz Show in March - one month after Locklear filed for divorce from Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora. A source tells American publication People, "Heather is still going through a lot with Denise Richards and Richie. It's just too soon for her to get serious. They are still friends. It's not ugly." Another source close to Spade says that the break "was a mutual decision." The couple has been seen regularly cuddling, holding hands and kissing over the last several months, but have never publicly spoken about their relationship. Locklear was even seen with a new tattoo on her ankle with the words "Finch" - the character Spade played on the TV show Just Shoot Me. A source close to Locklear adds, "They are friends. They've always been friends. And they continue to be friends. There's nothing more than that."
Lynch Honored With Lifetime Achievement Award

Cult director David Lynch was honored with the prestigious lifetime achievement award at the Venice Film Festival yesterday, and he used the opportunity to reassure the press about his quirky new movie Inland Empire. Lynch, who is behind hit movies Eraserhead, The Elephant Man and Blue Velvet, spent two years developing the hallucinatory project, which stars Naomi Watts' vocal talents as a talking rabbit. He insisted, "It's supposed to make perfect sense. Every film is like going into a new world, going into the unknown. But you should be not afraid of using your intuition, and feel and think your way through." But Laura Dern, who also stars in the improvisation-based movie, admitted she is still baffled by the film herself. She said, "The truth is I didn't know who I was playing - and I still don't know. I'm looking forward to seeing the film tonight to learn more."
Lohan Not Engaged
Freaky Friday star Lindsay Lohan will have to wait for an engagement ring from boyfriend Harry Morton - the bauble he just bought her was a trinity ring. Entrepreneur Morton was spotted buying the ring at Cartier in Beverly Hills last month and Lohan's mother Dina insists the couple are not planning a wedding. She tells America's Life & Style magazine, "It's not an engagement ring but a very sweet gift. Harry's an angel." Dina Lohan adds, "He's a great guy and he's been a great influence on her... They love each other and care for each other. They're dating and it's moving along."
Mayer Shuns Simpson
John Mayer reportedly ended his brief relationship with Jessica Simpson after members of her entourage leaked intimate details of their relationship to the media. The budding relationship came to light last week and Simpson even appeared on the cover of American publication People with the headline "I'm In Love." Mayer posted a cryptic message on his official website Thursday, when rumors went into overdrive about the pair saying, "Don't believe the hype" and both parties are now back-peddling. Simpson appeared on US talk show The View Tuesday to promote her new album, ironically titled A Public Affair. When she was asked by co-host Rosie O'Donnell if she was seeing Mayer she said, "I'm actually not dating John Mayer. He's my friend." The reclusive musician was reportedly shocked when private details of his relationship with Simpson were printed in the press and has since cut off any contact. A pal of Mayer tells American publication Us Weekly the relationship was "a '2', (but) her camp spun into an '11'." The friend says the musician has lost respect for Simpson and "now he will stay away from her. He thinks it's desperate. An attempt for her to stay in the spotlight." A source close to Simpson confirms the relationship has cooled saying, "She met a guy who was scared away by all the attention." Mayer's pal adds, "It's very clear to John who was pushing this story. And it's also very clear to him that Jessica is under a lot of pressure to sell an album."
Simpson and Lachey Divide Assets in Divorce
Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson have finally divided up the assets from their marriage after the pop hunk agreed to less than his share in order to avoid an ugly court battle. The couple amassed an estimated $36 million fortune during their three-year marriage, due in large part to the success of MTV reality show Newlyweds: Nick And Jessica and endorsement deals. Under California law, the assets are to be divided equally, which would award each of them $18 million. Simpson had initially offered Lachey $1.5 million to walk away from the marriage, reportedly at her father Joe's request. Lachey rejected the offer and according to news website Tmz.com, he has now agreed to a new settlement amount, which has not been disclosed. Sources say Lachey will take significantly more than the $1.5 million, but considerably less than half of what he and Jessica earned during the course of their marriage. Two sources close to Lachey say that he agreed to end the dispute because he doesn't want to hurt anyone in a contentious court battle.

Now, Mirren, who doubts she'll ever wear the designer shoes again, is thinking about selling them off for charity. She says, "I may auction them off."
