Pitt Slams Jolie Pregnancy Rumors

Brad Pitt has slammed reports his girlfriend Angelina Jolie is pregnant with their second child. In Touch Weekly's front page story claims the Girl, Interrupted actress, 31, is sporting a "telltale bump" - three months after giving birth to her first biological child Shiloh Nouvel. Pitt and Jolie also have two adopted children, Cambodian Maddox, four, and Ethiopian Zahara Marley, 20 months. However, the Fight Club actor's spokesperson tells the New York Daily News, "It's so stupid. That magazine is a joke."

'Fountain' Booed at Venice

British movie star Rachel Weisz was stunned when her new movie The Fountain was booed at its premiere at the Venice Film Festival yesterday. The film, directed by her fiance Darren Aronofsky, left the audience confused and disappointed - even though Weisz insists it is important to have something "different" on screen. The $35 million flop was snubbed repeatedly by movie studios until Warner Brothers decided to back it. The story spans 1,000 years and stars Hugh Jackman as a 16th century Spanish explorer, 21st century scientist and 26th century astronaut searching for the Fountain of Youth. Weisz, whose presence at the festival marked her first official public appearance since the birth of son Henry Chance in May, says, "I think it's wonderful that this film is so different. I would love to work with Darren again."

Irwin's Family Rushes Back to Australian Home

Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin's wife and two children rushed from a family holiday in Tasmania to their Queensland, Australia home on Sunday after learning Irwin had died in a freak stingray attack. Irwin, a passionate conservationist, was killed when a stingray barb pierced his heart as he filmed footage for a new documentary on shallow reefs in north Queensland. The footage of his fatal goring has been handed over to Queensland police, who are investigating the incident. According to boat owner Peter West, "Something happened with this animal that made it rear and he was at the wrong position at the wrong time and if it hit him anywhere else, we would not be talking about a fatality." Irwin's family was hiking near Cradle Mountain on the Australian island of Tasmania when he was killed just after 11 am on Monday. Wife Terri, daughter Bindi Sue, 8, and son Bob, 2, flew out of Devonport, Tasmania to the Sunshine Coast on a chartered flight shortly after 5 pm. Bindi clutched a blanket and stayed close to her mother, while her younger brother Bob skipped ahead as the family walked across the tarmac to their aircraft. The news of Irwin's sudden death shocked the world and sparked a huge outpouring of grief, particularly in his homeland of Australia and in the US, where he had found fame and fortune as an adventurer and naturalist.

Braff Shelves 'Open Hearts'

Director/actor Zach Braff has been forced to shelve his latest movie, after failing to secure enough cast members to begin filming. The Garden State star has adapted a Danish screenplay called Open Hearts, but is struggling to find people to work with. He tells Moviehole.net, "There is always pressure, but I'm going to do something that isn't anything like Garden State. "The next thing I will do will be completely different, Open Hearts, which is a Danish movie that I adapted. "It's a really dark drama about a car accident and the way the accident affects all the people involved in it. I was going to do it this summer, but since I couldn't get my top people I'm waiting until next summer."

'Volver' Wins at San Sebastian

Pedro Almodovar's film Volver will receive the Fipresci Grand Prix for Best Film of the Year at the San Sebastian International Film Festival in Spain. This will be Almodovar's second Best Film of the Year win - his first was for Todo sobre mi madre (All About My Mother) in the award's first year . Volver premiered in Spain on March 17th and has been a smash hit with audiences and critics at the Cannes Film Festival, France, where all six actresses including Penelope Cruz won Best Actress prizes. Almodovar will collect his prize at the opening gala on September 21st.

Walters Bans O'Donnell from Blogging

Veteran newswoman Barbara Walters has urged new co-host Rosie O'Donnell to stop blogging about The View. O'Donnell is joining the show on Tuesday and regularly writes about what is happening in her life on her website. The League Of Their Own star complained about a promotional skit from the new season of the show writing in an all lowercase style saying, "I saw the new view promos. "Found myself/in the position/i loathe the most/powerless." Walters discussed her feelings about O'Donnell's web posts with Newsweek magazine saying, "I didn't like the blog. I'm counting on Rosie's intelligence and sensitivity and humor. "This is, after all, an entertainment show. It is based on people who like each other and are having a good time, not on people who are arguing and unhappy." Soon after Walters spoke to the magazine, she received flowers and a card from her new co-host reading, "Barbara, I only want the promos and the show to be great. And I love you. Love, Ro."

Minnelli and Gest's Divorce Battle Turns Nastier

The nasty divorce battle between Liza Minnelli and David Gest has become even worse, with Minnelli accusing her estranged husband of trying to poison her and Gest charging that she hid the fact that she had a sexually transmitted disease. According to papers filed in a Manhattan, New York Supreme Court, Minnelli claims she was "living in fear" while she and the music producer were married, because she was scared he was "trying to poison her with drugs". Meanwhile, Gest claims the Oscar-winner hid her sexually transmitted disease, herpes simplex, from him until well after they were married. A source close to Gest tells the New York Post, "David was devastated when he found (this) out a year after they had been together and six months after they were married." In the court filing, Gest's lawyers demands to know when and how Minnelli got infected and plan to make her medical condition an issue in their long-running divorce case where each is accusing the other of being "cruel and inhuman". The estranged couple have been locked in a court clash since splitting in July 2003.

Binoche Under Cover

Hollywood star Juliette Binoche prepared for her role in new thriller A Few Days in September by meeting with real-life secret agents. The Santiago Amigorena-directed movie sees Binoche star as a member of the French secret service, and she made sure she had first-hand espionage experience for the role. She says, "I was able to understand that you can never really retire as a secret agent, because you will always have secrets. I think an actor needs a certain realism and truth to be real on the screen."

Lewis Attacks Gibson

Jerry Lewis has taken a swipe at Mel Gibson over the anti-Semitic comments he made when he was arrested for alleged drunk driving in July. Gibson was forced to publicly apologize after it emerged he had told officers: "The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world." And Lewis insists he has thought of the perfect retribution for the star. He quips, "I'm doing a film with Mel Gibson. I'm going to direct it, and I'm calling it Skinheads and we're going to open in Haifa and then go on to Berlin and Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. It should be wonderful. It's an exciting idea."

Lane Loves Shorn Locks

Diane Lane has no regrets about chopping off her hair on live television and insists she loves her sleek new look. The Hollywoodland star cut her hair earlier this summer live on Today to make a wig for cancer charity Beautiful Lengths. She explains, "I like it short, I kept it short." Lane was especially relieved when husband Josh Brolin approved of her new hairdo adding jokingly, "He loved it, which is convenient, because that's the priority. "It is all about the hair as we know!" Lane insists she has no remorse about deciding to lop off her locks saying, "You know, I thought I would. "Summer was so hot and I had a nice breeze on my neck for a change. I use a lot less product. That's one way to look at it!"
