Kate Hudson Splits From Rocker Husband

Almost Famous star Kate Hudson and her rocker husband Chris Robinson have separated. A representative for the daughter of actress Goldie Hawn confirms she has split from The Black Crowes frontman, after nearly six years of marriage. Hudson's spokesperson Brad Cafarelli tells website Tmz.com, "Kate Hudson and Chris Robinson have confirmed that they are separated." The couple wed on New Year's Eve 2000 after dating for nearly a year. They have son Ryder Russell, who was born on January 7, 2004. Hudson was most recently onscreen in comedy You, Me and Dupree and recently signed to a new film with How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days co-star Matthew McConaughey.

Sheen & Richards Reach Amicable Agreement

Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards amicably settled all the remaining issues in their pending divorce proceeding yesterday. The couple issued a joint statement through their lawyers, stating their intention to move forwards in a positive way, after a bitter public divorce battle. Sheen's attorney Lance Spiegel, with Richard's lawyer Neal Hersh at his side, made a statement outside a Los Angeles courthouse. He said, "Both parties have amicably resolved any outstanding issues on an interim basis." The divorce has not been finalized and the couple was were not present at the brief hearing, which took place in a judge's rooms. A protection order against Sheen, which stated he was required to stay away from Richards and their daughters - Sam, two and Lola, one - except for supervised visits with the children, expired yesterday. Attorneys for the pair declined to comment on questions over whether the restraining order would be extended or what the custody arrangements for the children might be. Richards is currently dating Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora, while Sheen has been seeing real estate investor Brooke Mueller.

Boy George Takes to the Streets

British pop star Boy George donned overalls and gloves in New York yesterday as he began his community service for wasting police time. The former Culture Club frontman, real name George O'Dowd, was sentenced to five days work by Manhattan Criminal Court in June for falsely reporting a burglary at his Little Italy apartment in October 2005. After sentencing, the 45-year-old Taboo singer slammed his punishment, saying, "It would have been more useful to make 30 grand ($30,000) with a concert, rather than be prancing around in a park. I could have raised some money, could have done something that would have helped." Despite vowing to wear "something loud," O'Dowd arrived for the beginning of his shift with the Department of Sanitation today wearing dark trousers and a black jumper, before picking up a shovel, broom, plastic bags, orange vest and gloves. While spending the first hour relatively silent as he swept the streets, O'Dowd shouted to the waiting paparazzi, "You think you're better than me?. Go home. Let me do my community service. This is supposed to be making me humble. Let me do this. I just want to do my job." Due to the huge throng of photographers surrounding the star, the DS decided to move O'Dowd into a gated Sanitation parking lot, where he carried on sweeping. Deputy Sanitation Chief Albert Durrell said, "This is for everyone's safety."

'Capote' Screenwriter Secretly Joins Jolie Film

Capote screenwriter Dan Futterman has secretly been cast opposite Angelina Jolie in a film about slain Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl. Jolie made headlines last month when it was announced she was playing Pearl's widow Marianne in the film adaptation of her 2003 memoir A Mighty Heart. But Paramount Pictures made no mention at the time of who would be playing her husband, leading many to speculate the role was yet to be cast. In fact, Futterman, who is best known for his recurring role on US TV drama Judging Amy, had already been selected and was secretly filming in Pakistan. The casting was kept a closely guarded secret because of security concerns and crewmembers were sworn to secrecy during the 10-day shoot on location in Karachi and Islamabad. Director Michael Winterbottom and a skeleton crew went to Pakistan undercover, hoping to be mistaken for a documentary or news crew. Futterman, who agreed to be interviewed only after he returned to the US, tells the Washington Post, "It was important to shoot in the actual places where things happened. There are lots of little things that were important to (Winterbottom), not least of all the people and the sound of the language spoken." Pearl was a respected journalist at the time he was abducted and killed in Pakistan - four months before his wife gave birth to their son - while researching a story about Muslim fundamentalists.

Douglas Turned To Father After 'Wonder Boys' Disappointment

Oscar-winner Michael Douglas turned to his father Kirk Douglas for support when his 2000 movie Wonder Boys failed to garner the critical acclaimed he felt sure it deserved. The Wall Street star is still convinced it's a "f**king disgrace" the film, which also featured Tobey Maguire and Katie Holmes, was ignored by awards ceremonies and audiences alike. But he took comfort in his screen icon father, who suffered a similar disappointment when his favorite performance - in the 1962 movie Lonely Are The Brave - went largely unnoticed. Douglas says, "Wonder Boys was a huge disappointment personally. I loved the movie and we didn't even get critically acknowledged as far as awards go. I thought it was a f**king disgrace. I'll be honest - it really hurt my confidence. It was a punch in the gut. In fact it was my father who helped me through it. His favorite movie is Lonely Are The Brave. Nobody saw that when it came out, nobody's seen it since. My father's disappointment in that movie helped me get over mine."

Doherty Hangs Up On Newsweek Reporter

Former Beverly Hills, 90210 star Shannen Doherty slammed the phone down on a Newsweek magazine reporter when asked about allegations she attempted to run over a former boyfriend. The actress was promoting her new series Breaking Up With Shannen Doherty where she helps people end toxic relationships with lovers, friends and employers. Newsweek reporter Nicki Gostin asked the former Charmed star about personal turmoil in her own relationships saying, "Haven't you had some bad breakups? You tried to run over a boyfriend a long time ago, right?" A terse Doherty replied, "No, and if that's the way you're going with this then I'd rather not even do the interview. I'm not going to have things rehashed from 15 years ago. I'm not going to combat lies. I can already tell what's going to be in your article." When Gostin tried to explain, the irate star interrupted saying, "Let me hang up and call my publicist and then we'll reconvene, because I'm not going down this path." The star never returned the call to complete the interview.

Lee Compares Katrina To Hiroshima

Filmmaker Spike Lee was stunned when he saw New Orleans, Louisiana for the first time after Hurricane Katrina ravaged the city, because it looked like nuclear-damaged Hiroshima, Japan. Hiroshima was devastated by atomic bombs during World War II on August 6, 1945, while large parts of New Orleans were left flooded when the hurricane broke the city's levees last summer. Lee returned to New Orleans to film the aftermath for his upcoming documentary When The Levees Broke: A Requiem In Four Acts and couldn't believe the devastation before him. He says, "It looked like what I assume Hiroshima looked like after World War II. I just couldn't believe this was happening right now in America. It was one of those moments where you know someone will ask you years from now, 'Where were you when Katrina happened?'"

Talk show host Jerry Springer is the latest celebrity to sign up for the new season of US hit reality show Dancing With The Stars. US network ABC announced the new performers, which also include former LA Law star Harry Hamlin, Kill Bill actress Vivica A. Fox, Blossom star Joey Lawrence, Saved By The Bell's Mario Lopez, Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker's estranged wife Shanna Moakler and American football star Emmitt Smith. Rounding out the show's competitors are country music singer Sara Evans and pop star Willa Ford. Dancing with the Stars is the US version of the British hit series Strictly Come Dancing and will premiere on September 12.

Pacino Accused of Breaking Court Order By Talking About Kids

Al Pacino has been accused of breaching a court order banning him from talking about his children with ex-partner Beverly D'Angelo. The actor discusses his and D'Angelo's parenting of five-year-old twins Anton and Olivia in Al Pacino: In Conversation With Lawrence Grobel, a collection of articles on the actor. Grobel writes, "His four-year-old daughter had seen a bee on the grass, hurt and perhaps dying. She pointed it out to her daddy, who said, 'The bee is not well. Why don't we put it in a better place?' So he lifted it onto a piece of paper, and they placed it on a flower bed. Later, when he was dropping (the twins) off, he said to his daughter, 'Why don't you tell Mommy about the bee?' and Mommy said, 'She was once stung by a bee. You shouldn't let her near one.' Al wanted to explain that the bee was not a danger. But their mother was coming from another place: Bees can sting." But D'Angelo - who has fought and won a bitter court battle over the kids since her split from Pacino in 2002 - is furious. A friend tells the New York Daily News, "Beverly does not remember this ever happening. Al is notorious for taking dramatic license. And he's not supposed to be talking about the kids anyway." D'Angelo tells the paper, "Since 2003, there has been a court order covering this kind of thing."

Cruise and Holmes Aid Car Accident Victims

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes rushed to the aid of a couple after witnessing a car accident in Utah on Saturday night. The Hollywood couple, who are planning to wed this summer, pulled over on their way to the airport after watching their friend, England soccer ace David Beckham's team Real Madrid beat Real Salt Lake two-zero in Salt Lake City. Cruise and Holmes made sure the couple's injuries were not serious and waited with them until the emergency services arrived.
