Group Seeks Gibson Boycott Billboard

A group of Los Angeles residents who are trying to post an anti-Mel Gibson billboard advertisement insists it is getting nowhere - because they are convinced media companies don't want to alienate the lucrative star. The group has been trying to buy a billboard that features Gibson's mug shot with the word "no" over it in red. They are trying to secure space on the city's famous Sunset Boulevard and have been repeatedly turned down once billboard companies learn the content of the proposed billboard. Publicist Andy Behrman, who is spearheading the effort, tells website TheScoop.com, "We wanted to make a statement that anti-Semitism is not OK in Hollywood - or anywhere else. They tell us it will be fine, and then when they learn we want to protest Mel Gibson, there's suddenly some problem." Behrman says he even got an OK to erect the billboard on August 15 - until ad space bosses learned all about the protest. He adds, "I got a call back saying, 'My boss doesn't want to touch this Mel Gibson thing.'"

Star To Sue Over Divorce Rumors?

Former talk show host Star Jones Reynolds has rubbished reports her marriage to Al Reynolds is on the rocks, and is threatening legal action against those responsible for spreading the rumors. Reynolds, who made headlines when she abruptly quit US talk show The View in June, is battling reports that appeared Wednesday in a New York City tabloid claiming her marriage is falling apart. Her representative tells American publication People that there is no truth to the divorce rumors. Reynolds publicist issued a statement saying, "These categorically false stories and their continuation are clearly being generated by someone for vindictive reasons alone." The statement goes on to say that the couple's "legal representatives have been investigating the source and motivation of these boldfaced lies for some time now and are very close to exposing the individual who has perpetrated them. At which time, appropriate legal action will be taken." Reynolds and her husband married in 2004 in an elaborate ceremony that included the bride's arrival at the church in a horse-drawn carriage.

Schneider Slams Gibson

Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo star Rob Schneider is the first actor to publicly announce he will never work with Mel Gibson due to the anti-Semitic remarks he made when he was arrested last Friday. Schneider took out an ad in Hollywood trade paper Variety slamming the star for his behavior in "An Open Letter to the Hollywood Community." The ad appeared yesterday and said, "I, Rob Schneider, a 1/2 Jew, pledge from this day forth to never work with Mel Gibson-actor-director-producer-and anti-Semite." Schneider then went on to say even if he were offered the lead role in Passion Of The Christ 2 or a "juicy voice-over role in his new flick Apocalypto and spoke ancient Mayan" he would still turn them down. He also repeatedly praised Hollywood talent manager Bernie Brillstein for publicly saying he would refuse to work with Gibson because "I just don't like bigots." The actor continued by saying he had recently directed a film called Big Stan in which there was a part for a Nazi gang leader "which apparently Mel would be perfect for." Schneider said he would still not cast Gibson in that role and ended the letter by saying, "Of course that would only be after I talked with my financial backers. Some of whom share Mr. Gibson's hankering for a good bottle of tequila. Because, after all...I don't get to call all the shots."

Willis Sues Childhood Pal Over Private Pictures

Bruce Willis is taking a childhood friend to court, claiming he has "wrongfully retained possession" of private photos and videos belonging to the actor. The Die Hard star filed suit against Bruce DiMattia on Tuesday in Los Angeles, accusing his former pal of attempting a "shakedown." In the court documents, obtained by Tmz.com, Willis explains DiMattia worked for him for four years, organizing his private archive of family photographs and video, until the movie star was forced to dismiss him earlier this year. Things turned nasty when DiMattia refused to give up the home Willis gave him during his employment. The suit claims DiMattia has informed Willis he plans to pen a book about the actor's private life, which the actor insists will feature "falsehoods and lies that could embarrass" him. The actor says that DiMattia has "threatened to unlawfully exploit private family photographs and memorabilia" belonging to him, and to sell a manuscript containing lies about the star, unless Willis "agrees to pay him over $100,000 and buy him a car." Willis is seeking damages of over $1 million and the return of private documents, photographs and video.

McCarthy Denies Vegas Wedding Rumors

Model-turned-actress Jenny McCarthy has dismissed reports she's planning a shock Las Vegas, Nevada wedding with boyfriend Jim Carrey, insisting there are no plans for the couple to get married this year. McCarthy has been spotted out and about in Sin City, leading gossips to speculate she's planning a quickie wedding at one of the desert paradise's quirky chapels. But the former Playboy pin-up insists she's not there to become Mrs. Carrey. She says, "I'm happy in my relationship. We're both very happy, but there's no wedding. People do that here in Vegas and people have been asking me, but there's no wedding. It's amazing the soap operas that happen in the media."

Madonna Gives $3 Million to Malawi Orphans

Pop superstar Madonna has donated at least $3 million to help orphans in Malawi. The "Hung Up" singer hopes her joint venture with economic guru Jeffrey Sachs will help feed up to 1,000 children every day. She tells Time magazine the project is "a privilege... the ultimate gift of being famous, or a byproduct... I know that, yeah, this is why I am famous." And Madonna insists having her own children - Lourdes, nine, and Rocco, five - has changed her "perspective on life" and she is fully committed to doing all she can to help underprivileged youngsters.

McPhee Injures Her Foot

American Idol star Katharine McPhee fractured her foot after falling backstage at the Bobcats Arena in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Tuesday night. The brave singer refused to cancel her Idol Tour performance and sang two songs while wearing slippers. The 22-year-old brunette was taken to a local hospital following the gig, where doctors discovered a hairline fracture following X-rays. RCA Records spokesman Roger Widynowski tells the New York Post, "She's in discomfort, but she's fine. She will continue on the tour and is not defaulting." The fracture is the latest health problem to affect McPhee, who missed weeks of the Idol Tour after contracting bronchitis and laryngitis.

Spears Keen To Work with Sheen

Pregnant pop star Britney Spears is desperate to go into business with Wall Street star Charlie Sheen after falling in love with his range of kid's clothing. Sheen launched his hugely successful Sheen Kidz line in April with business partner Michael Berens and the range is now sold in more than 125 stores. A source tells US Ok! magazine, "Brit's people approached Sheen Kidz out of the blue. She'd seen his clothing and really liked it. She wants to start her own children's clothing line and she thought Sheen Kidz would be able to help get things off the ground." The Two And A Half Men star is reportedly open to expanding his business with the pop star. The source adds, "Charlie believes it would be fun to work with Britney." The singer, whose son Sean Preston will celebrate his first birthday September 14, is due to deliver her second around the same time.

Forlani and Scott Dating?

Meet Joe Black star Claire Forlani and Mission: Impossible II star Dougray Scott are dating, according to media reports in the US. Forlani, who has recently been linked to Keanu Reeves, was spotted having an intimate meal with Scott at the famous Chateau Marmont hotel last Thursday. Scott has joined the cast of Desperate Housewives as a love interest for Teri Hatcher's character, Susan. According to American publication People, the couple have also been seen holding hands all over the Universal Studios film lot where the show is taped.

Macaulay Goes for Group Sex Film

Former child star Macaulay Culkin has signed up for a racy new role in a film focusing on group sex. The movie, Sex And Breakfast, is a dark comedy about a couple with problems in the bedroom who seek guidance from a therapist. The counselor then suggests group sex as a solution to their problems. Culkin explains, "I read a lot of material and loved this script. It's really about the pressure that leads them to experiment, the anticipation leading up to the event and then the fallout." The film has already begun shooting and also features Tru Calling star Eliza Dushku, Alexis Dziena and Kuno Becker.
