Drunk Jackie Chan Interrupts Concert

Action star Jackie Chan reportedly leaped on stage during a concert in his native Hong Kong while under the influence of alcohol. The actor had been invited to attend the performance by Taiwanese singer/songwriter Jonathan Lee on Sunday by the singer himself, but unexpectedly took to the stage and disrupted the show by hurling insults at the crowd - reports the Ming Pao Daily News. The newspaper claims Chan told the crowd he was drunk and wanted to sing a duet with Lee. The Rush Hour star also attempted to conduct the band, but only managed to start and stop them several times. Chan's spokesman, Solon So, has refused to comment.

Beloved Actor Barnard Hughes Dies

Beloved US stage and screen star Barnard Hughes has died after a brief illness. He was 90. The Tony and Emmy Award-winner, who has featured in a string of movies including The Lost Boys, Hamlet, Tron, Midnight Cowboy and Cradle Will Rock, died in a New York City hospital on Monday, just six days before his 91st birthday. Hughes fell in love with show business after auditioning for a play on a dare and went on to star in more than 400 Broadway, New York City, shows, according to theater website broadwayworld.com. He made his Broadway debut in 1935 in Herself Mrs. Patrick Crowley and returned to the stage after serving in the US Army in World War Two. After a string of movie roles in the 1960s and 1970s, Hughes made a big splash on Broadway in Da - a role which won him Tony and Drama Desk awards in 1978. He later recreated the role in the 1988 movie adaptation. His TV roles included a 1977 Emmy Award-winning performance on Lou Grant. Hughes was awarded an honorary doctorate from Manhattan College, the school he'd dropped out of to become an actor, in 1992. Plans for a memorial gathering will be announced.

'Pirates' Movie Producers Sued by Screenwriter

The global success of the Pirates Of The Caribbean sequel has been tainted by a Hollywood screenwriter, who claims the whole idea for the franchise was his. The megahit, Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, smashed box office records in eight territories - including America and the UK - over the weekend, but writer Royce Mathew is keen to halt the celebrations. He claims he created "drawings" and a "screenplay" for a project he called Supernatural Pirate Movie - and now he fears his ideas have been turned into a Disney blockbuster. Royce states he even called the pirate ship in his film treatment the Black Pearl - the same name used for Johnny Depp's craft, and the subtitle for the original film. And he also created a lead characters called Will Turner - the same name as Orlando Bloom's swashbuckler in the Disney films - and Elizabeth - the Christian name of Keira Knightley's character. The screenwriter insists he registered the drawings and his screenplay with the US Copyright Office, and is now suing the The Walt Disney Company, Buena Vista Home Entertainment, Touchstone Home Video and producer Jerry Bruckheimer, claiming movie bosses used his ideas as a blueprint for the Pirates of The Caribbean films.

Eastwood Honored by BAFTA

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts in Los Angeles will honor Hollywood legend Clint Eastwood with the Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award for excellence in film. The 15th Britannia Awards will take place on November 2 at the Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles. Eastwood, who began his acting career in the 1950s, has directed more than 25 films and won Oscars for director and best picture twice - for Million Dollar Baby in 2004 and Unforgiven in 1992. The actor recently produced and directed Flags Of Our Fathers, which will be released in October.

Geena Davis Keeps Royals Waiting at Festival

Actress Geena Davis kept Prince Albert Of Monaco waiting at the Monte Carlo TV festival last week after a make up and wardrobe malfunction. The former Commander In Chief star attended the event despite her show being cancelled at the end of it's first season, but was half an hour late after fighting with her make-up artist. She fired the artist because she didn't like the bronzer being used and started over again before having a crisis with her dress zip. Spokesman Paul Bloch tells gossip site PageSix.com, "She used two or three different make-up people, but that is normal. She had a problem with the zipper on her dress, which delayed her. But she and Prince Albert sat together. She's never been treated better and had a terrific time at the festival."

Baldwin Backs Out of Film Promotion

Alec Baldwin will be absent from promotional interviews and screenings for her latest film Mini's First Time, because he's too busy. The State and Main actor insists he is happy with his performance in the movie and believes it will be received well by critics, but his life is too chaotic for the publicity tour. He tells website PageSix.com, "I can't get out to do PR for all the films I do. You have to decide which (films) you would like to step up for and, unfortunately, I didn't have the time for this one. I've been in five movies in the past 18 months, so it's hard to be everywhere. If I had a problem with the content, I wouldn't do the movie."

Hasselhoff Owes His Life to Swooning Hotel Clerk

David Hasselhoff owes his life to a London hotel clerk who literally swooned at his feet seconds after he accidentally slashed his wrist in a shaving accent. The Baywatch creator-turned-reality TV star severed a tendon in his right wrist after shattering a chandelier in his hotel room bathroom and had to be rushed to hospital. But he fears that if an overwhelmed clerk, who came to his aid after hearing his cries for help, had passed out in front of him, he would never have made it. He explains, "It was really early in the morning and I said, 'Help, help, please, and I went over with blood spurting everywhere, and she started to faint. I said, 'No, no, no... don't faint.' I grabbed her with my foot and I said, 'Excuse me, can you tell me the number for 911 here in London.'" Hasselhoff now has his wrist in a cast following the shaving mishap, which took place on June 29.

Brinkley Splits from Fourth Husband

Former supermodel Christie Brinkley is splitting from her fourth husband, architect Peter Cook. The estranged couple have been married for nearly 10 years and have eight-year-old daughter Sailor Lee. Brinkley's spokesperson Elliot Mintz confirmed the split to TV show Entertainment Tonight: "Yes, it's true. The couple has separated. Christie's primary interest at this difficult time is for the protection of her children and (she) would be most appreciative if people would be good enough to respect her privacy." The 52-year-old model, who appeared in the 1980s comedy National Lampoon's Vacation with Chevy Chase, has two other children from her previous marriages - Alexa, 20, and 11-year-old Jack. She was previously married to singer Billy Joel for nearly ten years and he wrote his hit "Uptown Girl" about her. Brinkley was also married to Jean-Francois Allaux from 1973 until 1981, and Richard Taubman from 1994 to 1995.

Rimes Recovers from Surgery

Country music singer LeAnn Rimes is recovering after undergoing surgery yesterday for a serious infection she suffered after tearing the tissue in one of her legs. The singer has been forced to cancel three upcoming appearances - one today in Hampton Beach, New Hampshire, and back-to-back shows on Thursday and Friday in Niagara Falls, Canada, while her leg heals. Her publicist Diana Baron says, "The surgery went well, and she's absolutely fine." Rimes is expected to resume her performance schedule in Wisconsin on July 19. Rimes was ordered to seek immediate medical attention after a tear in the tissue of one of her legs became seriously infected. Baron gave no details on the exact nature of the singer's injury or how it was sustained.

Simpson Fantasizes About Pitt

Newly divorced star Jessica Simpson may not be ready to jump back into the dating scene, but that hasn't stopped her from fantasizing about her perfect man - Brad Pitt. The singer's divorce from husband Nick Lachey was finalized last month and she insists she's had "no dates" since the couple split. But when she's ready to find love again, Simpson knows exactly the type of man she is looking for, claiming her ideal lover is "Brad Pitt in Fight Club; you can't get much better than that!
