Simpson & Lachey Officially Divorced
Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson are officially divorced. According to court papers filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, the divorce is dated June 30, 2006. Simpson's name has been restored to Jessica Simpson from Jessica Simpson Lachey. Publicist Rob Shuter confirmed to American magazine People the couple are officially no longer man and wife. On Thursday, documents were released in which the couple asked that retired Superior Court Judge Dana Senit Henry be appointed "for the sole purpose of" ending their marriage. They asked the judge to "bifurcate" the case, meaning to make the divorce official without settling all the financial details. Settling the financial details of the divorce has been a sticking point between the couple, soon after Simpson filed for divorce last December, Lachey specified that he reserved the right to ask for spousal support, although he has denied in interviews that he is planning to ask for alimony.
Jones Reynolds: "Gossip Got Too Much"

US talk show host Star Jones Reynolds told audiences of The View she would be leaving the show early, because she couldn't handle the gossip about her departure any longer. Jones Reynolds, 44, stunned co-host and the program's producer Barbara Walters, when she told viewers live on air on Tuesday that she would not be returning. Walters said she felt "betrayed" by Jones Reynolds, because the latter had agreed with producers to announce her departure on Thursday. Speaking to CNN presenter Larry King Thursday night, Jones Reynolds explains, "I was told April 21st that my contract wasn't going to be renewed, so for two months I've been going to The View every single day doing my job 100 percent professionally. And through it all every single week there'd be news reports, speculation, rumor, gossip, innuendo and it was relentless. On Monday, I woke up and there was another story and the countdown to Star leaving The View with a date definite. Now, no one knew that information but executives and me. Tuesday morning I woke up and it was more of it and I realized it was turning into a circus atmosphere and the viewers deserved after nine years me to not go out in a circus atmosphere. Two hundred thousand people a year get a pink slip, so I said, 'Be professional. People's jobs depend on you.' And I went to work and I said it's a business decision. But it then became very, very personal in the media and that started to hurt. Tuesday morning I said I need to do this on my own terms. I called my pastor and we talked about it. We prayed. And, I said Tuesday I'm going to tell what's going on and I did."
Pitt-Jolie Photo Theft Mystery Revealed

The investigation into the theft of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's baby shower pictures has centered on Jolie's brother, who took a broken camera containing the snaps to a repair shop. Police swooped on two suspects on Tuesday - Bill Keyes and Adam Beckwith - who had downloaded pictures of the Hollywood couple's Namibia party held ahead of the birth of their daughter Shiloh Nouvel last month. However it has emerged that, rather than stealing the camera's memory card, Keyes and Beckwith were given it by Jolie's brother James Haven. Haven handed the faulty camera in for repairs in Los Angeles following his visit to the African party. Neither Keyes nor Beckwith have been arrested yet, according to Tmz.com, but police have seized the camera and Keyes' computer.
Brad Pitt's Identity Used for Forgery And Embezzlement

A man is on trial in Dubai for stealing Brad Pitt's identity in an attempt to embezzle money from a financial institution in the United Arab Emirates. The Jordanian salesman allegedly forged a fake ID using the Fight Club actor's picture and tried to steal over $22,000 from an exchange house where his brother worked. The 29-year-old denied knowing who Brad Pitt was and told police he just downloaded the photo from the internet. He is facing forgery and embezzlement charges. The actor's upcoming films include the Cannes award-winning Babel and The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.
Lopez Wins Injunction Against Ex's Book Deal
Jennifer Lopez's ex-husband has agreed to keep his memoirs to himself for now after the singer/actress won a temporary injunction to stop him from publishing a book about their romance. Ojani Noa threatened to reveal a host of private details about his ex-wife and her rise to fame in the tell-all, but, after Lopez won an injunction in California last week, the restaurateur has agreed not to go forward with his book plans for the time being. His out-of-court agreement, which negated a hearing this week, means Noa will now have to wait until the matter goes to court before he can consider publishing his salacious memoirs. Lopez filed a suit against Ojani in Los Angeles County Superior Court, claiming among other things, her ex had demanded $5 million from her to keep him from reaching a book deal, according to Tmz.com. The former couple's relationship turned sour last year when Noa fought Lopez for firing him as manager of her Pasadena, California restaurant Madre's. He claimed he was dismissed illegally. The pair settled out of court.
Harrelson Allegedly Chokes Photographer

Actor Woody Harrelson was involved in an alleged assault on a photographer Thursday night as he left a Hollywood nightclub. The Los Angeles Police Department is conducting a criminal investigation into the incident that occurred at approximately 11:30pm outside celebrity hot spot Element. The North Country star was leaving the club with three women and two men when photographer Josh Levine and other photographers began taking pictures. Harrelson became irritated and asked Levine to stop shooting. He then walked over to Levine, put his hand on the camera and again asked him to stop taking photographs. A fight erupted between the two, which was captured by another photographer at the scene. Harrelson's publicist Ina Treciokas tells website Tmz.com, "Unfortunately, this is not the first or last time the paparazzi have provoked an incident with a celebrity. Mr. Harrelson is evaluating all of his legal options against the photographer." Levine filed a criminal complaint against the actor and Los Angeles Police Detective John Padilla says an investigation is ongoing. He explains, "We're going to present it to the District Attorney's office as early as today. With the tapes and all, it's pretty good evidence." Padilla said vandalism and assault and battery charges could possibly be filed against Harrelson.

Former Baywatch star David Hasselhoff is recovering after undergoing surgery for an injury he suffered during a shaving accident. The actor/singer severed a tendon in his right arm while shaving in the bathroom of a gym in the Sanderson Hotel in London on Thursday. Hasselhoff hit his head on a chandelier, which showered his arm with broken glass. Doctors operated on the injured tendon and the 53-year-old star spent one night at St Thomas' Hospital in central London. According to his publicist, Judy Katz, "He's fine. He's out of the hospital and will resume filming tomorrow." The star is currently in London filming a commercial for a British Internet company.
Bond Footage Screened in Amsterdam

Twenty minutes of footage from upcoming James Bond movie Casino Royale was screened at the Amsterdam Cinema Expo this week, leaving journalists impressed with Daniel Craig's gritty portrayal of the superspy. The glossy edge of the Pierce Brosnan movies has been replaced by brutal fight scenes as director Martin Campbell delves into the dark side of Bond's psyche and past. US publication Variety writes, "The footage showed off Craig as a grittier Bond, with scenes of more intense, visceral hand-to-hand combat than 007 has tackled in recent pics. One black-and-white scene flashed back to Bond's first ever (brutal and hard-to-pull-off) kill as an agent, as well as his (much more sleek and signature) second assassination."
Damon's Kirk Casting in Doubt

Filmmaker Kevin Smith has cast doubt on speculation Matt Damon is being lined up to fill William Shatner's shoes as the new Captain Kirk. Mission: Impossible III director JJ Abrams reportedly wants Damon to play the legendary character in the next Star Trek movie, which will follow Kirk and Spock's younger years at a space academy. However, Smith - who directed the actor in Dogma - insists Damon is unlikely to accept the part, as he favors more original roles in his films. The director says, "I wonder if Matt would even do it. He's usually not that interested in treading where others have trod. He likes to break new ground." Despite his doubts, Smith jokes he'd welcome a sci-fi partnership with Damon's close pal Ben Affleck: "If they wind up casting Matt as Kirk, they should cast Ben as Spock. It seems like a no-brainer!"
