Daryl Hannah Arrested for Farm Protest

Actress Daryl Hannah has been arrested while protesting the closure of a Los Angeles community garden. The Splash star, a fervent environmentalist, was charged with trespassing after climbing a tree on the 14-acre garden and refusing to come down as officials attempted to clear the site of activists. Police staged a dawn raid yesterday in an effort to catch protestors like Hannah and singer Joan Baez unaware, and firefighters then used a cherry-picking crane to bring Hannah, farmers and activists down from their perch in a walnut tree. The defiant actress, who became a regular protestor on the site three weeks ago, says, "This is the largest urban farm in the nation. It doesn't cost the city a dime and we'd like to save this farm." The farmland, where some 350 urban farmers grow vegetables and flowers, is to be turned into warehouses and factories. Other celebrities who have offered their support to the farmers include Martin Sheen, Willie Nelson and Lethal Weapon star Danny Glover.

Shiloh Sparks First Fashion Trend

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's three-week-old daughter has already made her first fashion statement after appearing on the cover of America's People magazine in a trendy T-shirt. Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt wore a vintage-washed grey cotton T-shirt with the words "The Pots & Pans Band" on her first magazine cover, causing the $42 shirt to immediately fly off store shelves. After the magazine hit newsstands last week, baby boutiques and high-end retailers including Barney's New York, Fred Segal and Bloomingdale's were inundated with telephone calls and Internet orders. The shirt's designer, Kingsley Aarons, claims he was stunned by the response saying, "It just hit me how big a deal this is." Aarons was inspired by his own two-year-old son Zephyr, when the amateur drummer began banging away on pots and pans in the family's kitchen. The designer says other celebrity parents who dress their kids in his shirts include Johnny Depp, Gwen Stefani, Seal and Heidi Klum and Slash from Guns N' Roses. He adds, "Brad and Angelina are definitely our customers. The new generation of young, hip parents are looking for outfits they would wear themselves." Aarons is currently working with the celebrity couple's representatives to send baby T-shirts to Africa to help needy newborns.

Lopez Wins 'Flashdance' Lawsuit

The woman who inspired the movie Flashdance lost her court battle against Jennifer Lopez on Monday, after alleging the "I'm Glad" singer mimicked some of the film's memorable scenes in her video for the song. The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco, California, held up a lower court's decision that Maureen Marder gave up her rights to the 1993 film when she signed a release form with Paramount Pictures in 1982. Marder has filed several cases to gain a copyright interest in the film, which has grossed over $150 million worldwide. The three-judge panel also backed the lower court's dismissal of Marder's claims against Lopez and the Sony Corporation. The ruling stated "there is simply no evidence that her consent was obtained by fraud, deception, misrepresentation, duress or undue influence." Marder inspired the character played by Jennifer Beals, a construction worker by day and an exotic dancer by night, who aspired to join a prestigious dance school.

Black's Fatherly Fears

Fatherhood is already terrifying funnyman Jack Black - just four days after welcoming his baby son into the world. The Nacho Libre star became a first time dad when new bride Tanya Haden gave birth on Saturday and Black is already panicking about his son's welfare. He says, "I'm already having headaches like, 'Where is he going to go to pre-school? Am I gonna put cameras in every room of my house to spy on babysitters to make sure that they don't shake the baby?' I started watching TV shows that scare me a little bit. I love video games but then yesterday I was reading about how they can be addictive and kids shouldn't play with them." But, despite his fears, the actor is convinced he'll make a great dad: "I'm gonna be the best daddy on the planet and I'm gonna enter the best daddy competition and I plan to win it."

Hilton: "I Want To Be Alone"

Serial dater and socialite Paris Hilton insists she is through with men and just wants to be by herself. Hilton appeared on the Late Show With David Letterman on Monday night and insisted she loves being single. She explains, "I'm single for the first time in my life. I just want to be alone. I'm just going out with my sister and my girlfriends. It's cool not having to answer to anyone. I've never had time to get to know myself, I always put all of my energy into the man. I don't get to spend time on me. I'm just getting to know who I really am, until I can find someone else." The 25-year-old hotel heiress insists there are no hard feelings between her and former fiance Paris Latsis. She adds, "We're just better as friends. He was a great guy. I just wasn't ready to get married. I just want to be single. I love it."

TV Star Alive & Well Despite Suicide Reports

Beloved US TV star Jaleel White is laughing off reports he committed suicide while partying in Miami, Florida. News of the death of the actor, who played Steve Urkel in TV hit Family Matters, has been circulating on the Internet for a month after a bogus story reported his demise. The report was backed by news that White's neighbor alerted police after hearing a gunshot coming from the actor's Los Angeles apartment. The hoax also featured bogus quotes from White's former Family Matters co-stars. But White was living large at an Ocean Drive magazine private party last week. An insider at the bash says, "He was having a great time and seemed to think it was funny when people would come up to him and say, 'Hey, Urkel, I thought you were dead.' He's definitely not dead."

Rapist Apologizes to McGillis

The man convicted of raping Kelly McGillis apologized to the American actress on Monday, after he was found guilty of attacking two more women. The Top Gun star was raped by Leroy Johnson Jr. in 1982 when she was an aspiring actress living in New York City. Johnson, who was 15 at the time of the attack, was picked out by McGillis from police mugshots and was convicted with fingerprint evidence. The horrific crime inspired McGillis' subsequent performance as a sex-crimes prosecutor in 1988 film The Accused. In a statement released to the New York Post after his conviction on rape, sodomy and robbery charges dating back to 1996, Johnson said, "This case has received a lot of media attention because of the 1982 case involving Ms. Kelly McGillis. I was young, I made a big mistake, and I'm sorry for what I did to her." Johnson has already spent 20 years behind bars for sex crimes and now faces a further 25 years in prison.

Mills: "I'm Suing Over Hooker Claims"

Sir Paul McCartney's estranged wife Heather Mills will sue British newspaper the News Of The World over their "defamatory" claims she worked as a high-class prostitute in the early 1990s. On Sunday, the tabloid alleged Mills charged up to $8,000 for sex sessions in top London hotels with rich clients, including billionaire arms dealer Adnan Khashoggi, and had indulged in lesbian sex with another prostitute. Mills plans to formally launch legal proceedings against the publication after her divorce from the former Beatle is finalized. Her lawyer released a statement yesterday, saying, "Heather is very distressed by this article. She continues to recover slowly from her revision amputation operation and has suffered weight loss, anxiety and sleeping problems as a result of the stress and anxiety of the break-up of her marriage. The coverage of this in certain newspapers has caused further distress and illness to her." When the couple split last month, they blamed the "constant intrusion" by the media for their marital problems.

Madonna and Spears Have Friendship Fallout

Madonna has ended her friendship with Britney Spears, after the singer announced she was no longer studying Kabbalah, according to media reports in the US. The "Hung Up" star had reportedly taken Spears under her wing and spent a great deal of time and money educating her about the mystical offshoot of Judaism. Spears revealed she was quitting Kabbalah on her personal website, where she declared her new "religion" was caring for her son, Sean Preston. According to The Scoop website, Madonna is also demanding Spears return a 12th century book on the religion she gave to the singer as a wedding gift. A source says, "Madonna spent months teaching Britney the Kabbalah system, and splashed out thousands on the ancient scripture for her. She feels she has wasted time, money and precious gifts on Brit." Spears, who was raised a Baptist, has allegedly been working with a "Christian life coach" to help her through recent emotional rough patches.
