Pitt and Jolie To Sell Baby Photos

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are releasing photos of their newborn daughter Shiloh Nouvel and donating all profits to charity. The images, taken at a private photo shoot, will be distributed by photo agency Getty Images. The celebrity couple said in a joint statement, "While we celebrate the joy of the birth of our daughter, we recognize that two million babies born every year in the developing world die on the first day of their lives. These children can be saved, but only if governments around the world make it priority." Getty Images spokeswoman Deb Trevino said the family would name the charity that would receive the funds at a later date. She would not disclose how much the photos were being sold for, or when they would be distributed. The couple's daughter was born on May 27 in Namibia, Africa and joins their two adopted children, Maddox and Zahara.

Lohan Quits New Movie

Mean Girls star Lindsay Lohan has walked away from her new movie, Bill, after refusing to work with the film's first-time directors because they're not well known enough. The movie, which also stars Aaron Eckhart and Amanda Peet, was scheduled to already be in production. Lohan is said to be concentrating on her next film, Georgia Rule, starring Jane Fonda and Felicity Huffman. A source told Fox News correspondent Roger Friedman, "She's just going to stick to working with big-name directors now." Lohan will next be seen in A Praire Home Companion, directed by Robert Altman and starring Meryl Streep, Lily Tomlin, and Kevin Kline, among others.

Roberts' Poor Reviews Affecting Ticket Sales

Ticket brokers are struggling to sell tickets for Julia Roberts' New York theater debut, after the actress received a string of poor reviews for her performance in Three Days Of Rain. Roberts was lambasted for being "stiff with self-consciousness" and having "surprisingly little stage presence" when the play opened on Broadway in April. Despite all tickets selling out to the theater prior to opening, ticket brokers admit they are finding it difficult to sell the tickets and are being forced to cut prices as much as 25 percent lower. Jennifer Swanson, senior communications manager of the TicketsNow agency, tells the New York Daily News, "We're selling a lot of their tickets, but they seem to be going for considerably less than face value. We had a pair of front-row tickets for (last night's) show that went for just $75. Now that's a bargain." The show's producer Marc Platt insists he is happy with the audience turn-out, saying, "The house is full, the tickets are sold, the audiences are happy. One wishes it had been better received by the critics, but that's the way it goes."

Carrey's Angelic Honor

Jim Carrey accepted the Generation Award at the MTV Movie Awards on Saturday flanked by an army of angels. Wearing all white, the Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind actor was gracious onstage as he pointed out that only Tom Cruise had received the top lifetime achievement honor in the past. And he urged the Top Gun star's critics to leave him alone: "I like Tom Cruise; there's a lot of Cruise bashing going on, but I'm not one of those guys. I think he's pretty cool... Leave him alone." But Carrey wasn't so open when it came to talking about his rumored romance with Jenny McCarthy. He added, "I can't confirm or deny anything, but I am going out with someone who's very cool."

Hatcher Horrified by Sick Surgeons

TV beauty Teri Hatcher was appalled when she was told a picture of her face was going to be used as a demonstration for women who needed plastic surgery. In an extract from her autobiography Burnt Toast, the Desperate Housewives star explains her disgust at the actions of surgeons who try to persuade people that they should go under the knife. She writes, "It's true 40 was an amazing year for me. I got my first beauty campaigns with Clairol and Hydroderm... So you might understand my surprise when a magazine emailed me, cheerily informing me that they were going to print my photo alongside the opinions of a panel of plastic surgeons making recommendations as to the kind of 'work' I needed. So I emailed back. I was horrified at the idea that some plastic surgeons who'd never met me and knew nothing of my medical history or my current health would make suggestions about how, under general anesthetic, I could have cosmetic manipulations to improve my face and body. I wrote, 'Wow. First of all I am so sorry for your readers. I cannot believe this is what you want to put out there for women.' 'What kind of message do you think you are sending to women, when you tell them that a celebrity - Teri Hatcher, a woman who has had a second chance, who has a great year, a great job, won awards, made money, and has a beautiful daughter - that even she needs plastic surgery to be 'better?'"

Penn Slams "Insensitive" Reporting

Actor Sean Penn has blasted the US media for "insensitive" reporting, insisting journalists no longer make time to investigate stories thoroughly. The crusading star recently covered the Iranian elections for the San Francisco Chronicle, submitting a 12,000 word article about the eye-opening experience. But the Mystic River actor admits the press project has left him cynical about US reporting. He says, "There's a constant insensitivity. I watched journalists. They could only ever be seen by their subject as the person with a deadline. It's 'breaking news', literally. By the time you get the news, you've broken it. You don't get a chance to investigate stories. These journalists spend half the time in the internet cafe, filing a story."

'Space Ghost' Animator Dies

Celebrated animator and cartoonist Alex Toth, the mastermind of classic TV adventure series Space Ghost, has died at his drawing board. He was 77. Toth had been suffering ill health for many years, and died at his home in California last Monday. His long career was dominated by his work for former cartoon network Hanna Barbera, where he collaborated on a string of hit shows including The Challenge of the Super Friends, Jonny Quest and The Herculoids. Paul Levitz, president and publisher of DC Comics, says, "The work he did at (Hanna Barbera) touched more lives than anything else he had done. He found ways to take characters like Superman from their more complicated printed form into a simpler form for animation that still held on to their power and majesty."

Murphy Slams Eating Disorder Claims

Sin City star Brittany Murphy has lashed out at claims she has suffered from an eating disorder, insisting she has always been the same weight. The star became self-conscious after speculation over her small frame increased, but she maintains she merely appears slimmer because she has matured. The 28-year-old says, "I'm the same size I was in Clueless; it's just that the weight in your face changes as you grow and get older. I used to feel embarrassed about being too tiny. I had a publicist at the time who told me that I should cover my arms up in photos. She felt that if I did that, they would stop picking on me. She meant well, but it made me really self-conscious. Then I came to terms with it... This is my body; I'm proud of it, so who cares? Now I've stopped trying to eat 12 eggs for breakfast. I'm healthy which is the most important thing."

Hilfiger: "Axl Was Rude and Obnoxious"

Fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger has defended his alleged "attack" on rocker Axl Rose, insisting he was "just protecting myself." The 55-year-old designer was photographed fighting with the Guns N' Roses frontman at Rosario Dawson's 27th birthday at New York nightclub The Plumm last month. According to reports, Hilfiger was annoyed by Rose's attempts to move his girlfriend's drink on a table and told him to put the beverage back. The following day, Rose told a local radio station that Hilfiger kept "smacking" him. Over two weeks later, Hilfiger has finally broken his silence over the incident to the New York Daily News. He says, "I'm not a fighter. I was just protecting myself. He was being rude and obnoxious, and I just told him to cool it. I went after him before he could get me. Some people say, 'Good going, ' but other people just want to know if I'm all right."
