Rodriguez Free After Serving Four Hours in Jail

Michelle Rodriguez is a free woman after serving just hours of her 60-day drunk-driving jail sentence. The Lost star checked herself into jail in Los Angeles last Thursday but was out by the weekend, according to entertainment news website TMZ.com. Insiders claim the actress spent just four hours and 27 minutes behind bars - a byproduct of overcrowding and budget problems. A spokesman for the Los Angeles city attorney's office insists Rodriguez was released as part of a book and release program, typical for non-violent offenders with sentences of less than 90 days. Rodriguez made the most of her freedom - the Girlfight star was spotted ringside at the Ultimate Fighting Championships in Los Angeles on Saturday. Before turning herself into officials on Thursday, Rodriguez insisted she was planning to move to France upon her release from prison. She said, "I'm moving to France... People don't bother you there. I do what I got to do and then I leave the country and never come back."

Jolie-Pitt Baby Delivered by US Doctor

Hollywood couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's new baby Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-pitt was delivered by Caesarean section by a US doctor on Saturday. Los Angeles-based obstetrician Dr. Jason Rothbart was flown to Swakopmund, Namibia, to take charge of Jolie's labor at The Cottage Medi-Clinic Hospital. Dr. Rothbart tells American magazine People, "Angelina underwent a scheduled cesarean due to breech presentation. The baby was a healthy seven pounds. Brad was with Angelina in the operating room the entire time and cut the umbilical cord of his daughter. The surgery and birth went flawlessly. The staff, nurses and doctors I worked with at the Cottage Medi-Clinic Hospital were amazing, it was a team effort." In a statement to the publication, the delighted couple said, "We would like to deeply thank the staff of the Cottage Medi-Clinic Hospital for all their kindness and commitment in assuring the successful birth of our daughter." The Mr. And Mrs. Smith co-stars also adoptive parents to Cambodian son Maddox and Ethiopian daughter Zahara Marley.

Affleck Rushed to Hospital

Good Will Hunting star Ben Affleck spent his Memorial Day holiday on Monday, in the hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, after developing serious migraine headaches. The actor's wife, Alias star Jennifer Garner, drove him to hospital and he was released after receiving emergency treatment. According to a statement released by the star's representative Ken Sunshine on Monday, "Ben Affleck was treated for a migraine at Mt Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, Massachusetts, today. He was released this afternoon, and is recuperating at home." The celebrity couple are spending the summer in Cambridge with six-month-old daughter Violet, while Affleck directs his first feature film Gone, Baby, Gone.

Crowe Dumped for Ledger?

Oscar-winner Russell Crowe has reportedly been dumped from director Baz Luhrmann's new $150 million film epic in favor of Heath Ledger. The Gladiator star was set to play Nicole Kidman's lover later this year in the film set around the Japanese bombing of Darwin, Australia, in 1942. Crowe has been accused of demanding script approval before signing on for the film. While Crowe was procrastinating, the film's producers reportedly told Luhrmann to find another actor. The director then met with Ledger several times. A source tells the New York Post, "Baz liked him and offered him the movie. Then Crowe came back to Luhrmann and said he'd forgo the script approval and wanted to do the film, but they told him it was too late - to buzz off." A spokeswoman for Luhrmann declined to confirm or deny the report saying, "Baz doesn't publicly comment on his casting processes and currently he has made no final decision on the film, who is in it or when or where it will be shot."

Japanese New Wave Director Dies

Japanese director Shohei Imamura has died of liver cancer. He was 79. Tokyo-born Imamura was hailed as one of the cinematic icons of Japan's New Wave movement, twice winning the prestigious Palme d'Or at France's prestigious Cannes Film Festival. Famed for concentrating on gritty social issues, he frequently raised eyebrows with his work, which latterly included a piece based on the September 11th terrorist attacks as part of the 2002 short film compilation 11'09''01. Actor Koji Yakusho, who worked with Imamura on 2001 movie Warm Water Under A Red Bridge, calls the film-maker "a treasure." Imamura is survived by his wife Akiko, two sons and a daughter. His funeral has been scheduled for next week.

Knight and Curry Tie the Knot

Reality TV stars Christopher Knight and Adrianne Curry were married on Monday evening in the bride's hometown of Joliet, Illinois. The couple exchanged vows in front of 250 friends and family during a traditional ceremony at the Christ Episcopal Church. Curry wore a custom-made cream colored Alvina Valenta gown and carried a bouquet of black roses. Her seven bridesmaids wore red evening dresses, while Knight and the groomsmen wore matching tuxedos. Knight, who starred as Peter Brady on the 1970s hit The Brady Bunch, met Curry, who won the first season of America's Next Top Model, when they filmed VH1's The Surreal Life in 2004. Among the guests at the wedding were former Brady Bunch co-stars, Barry Williams, Susan Olsen and Mike Lookinland, as well as their Surreal Life co-star Joannie Laurer. Last year, VH1 chronicled the couple's courtship on the reality show, My Fair Brady. Their wedding has been documented for another VH1 show, My Fair Brady Wedding Special, which will air in July. The couple fooled the press into thinking they were marrying on Saturday.

Leto Joked About Being Gay

Actor Jared Leto has laughed off reports that he is gay, insisting his comments to a reporter last week were meant as a joke. The Requiem For A Dream star gave an online interview last Friday, where he claimed he was "gay as a goose." The America Online reporter seemed unsure if Leto was kidding or not and revised the question. Leto them compared himself to rock musician Morrissey, another singer known for his vagueness about his sexuality. The star was engaged to Cameron Diaz and has also been linked with Lindsay Lohan and Scarlett Johansson. His publicist, Robin Baum, has dismissed the flurry of media reports that followed his interview insisting, "Jared was kidding."

Sorvino Welcomes Second Child

Oscar winning actress Mira Sorvino is thrilled after giving birth to her second child, a baby boy called Johnny. The Mighty Aphrodite actress, 38, and her actor husband Chris Backus, 24, welcomed the 7 pound, 14 ounce tot on Monday at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Beverly Hills, California. Sorvino's publicist Ed Choi enthuses, "The baby is healthy and happy, and mother and the rest of the family are very, very excited." Sorvino, who previously dated Quentin Tarantino and Olivier Martinez, married Backus in June 2004 after a whirlwind romance. They welcomed their first child, a daughter Mattea Angel in November 2004.

Hawn To Direct Russell

Hollywood star Goldie Hawn has cast her long-term partner Kurt Russell to star in her directional debut Ashes To Ashes. The Overboard co-stars will both appear in the comedy, about a New York widow who brings her late husband's ashes to rest in India. Speaking at the London premiere of his latest film Poseidon on Sunday, Russell says, "Goldie's written a picture called Ashes To Ashes, which she has asked me to star in. She's going to direct the movie and I'm going to play the lead role. He's a mystery character." Russell insists his stepdaughter Kate Hudson will not be in the movie, but she is planning a movie with her family in the future. He explains, "Kate is not going to be involved, but she will definitely be in the next project we're doing."

Jones Has Perfect Acting Aura

Hong Kong director Wong Kar-Wai insists Grammy-winning singer Norah Jones is the perfect choice for his latest film, even though she has no acting experience. Jones will star with Jude Law, Natalie Portman and Rachel Weisz in the film My Blueberry Nights, and Kar-Wai was convinced to cast her after seeing her "acting aura." He explains, "Of course everyone knows her because she's a singer, but I didn't pick her for this film because she's a very successful singer. I think she's suitable for acting. This is instinct. It's like how I felt that Faye Wong could act when I first saw her a few years ago. There's a very special aura." Wong was a Chinese pop star who appeared in his movies Chungking Express and 2046.
