Sheen Hits Back at Richards on TV

Charlie Sheen is going public with his distress after estranged wife Denise Richards won a temporary restraining order against him last week. The actor has taped an interview with US news show Entertainment Tonight in a bid to clear his name, which was tarnished in new legal papers, filed by Richards last week. In the documents, the Wild Things actress claims Sheen gambled daily during their three year marriage, popped painkillers and surfed the internet for questionable porn sites. The actress alleges that when she confronted her husband about his problems, he hurled abuse at her and threatened her life if she went ahead with plans to expose the extent of his obsessions. But now Sheen is hitting back in a new TV interview. In the exclusive chat, which will air later today, he states, "I'm deeply saddened because this is clearly demonstrating a wanting and willful attempt at what I describe as a radical and transparent smear campaign and, clearly, a departure from sound, sane, responsible co-parenting. It is a reaction to a failed marriage, a reaction to some twisted desire, real or imagined, to hurt, to punish, to discredit, to completely torpedo, to undermine my perception as a responsible father... a guy who would give his life for his children. (Richards is) the only one entirely culpable for putting these radical allegations out for public consumption... my children included. And I find that as unacceptable as anything I've ever encountered."

Pitt and Jolie Ask for Privacy

Hollywood couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have issued a statement to press attempting to intrude on their Namibian holiday - "kindly asking" them for privacy during their vacation. The Mr. And Mrs. Smith co-stars arrived in the African nation on April 5 with their adopted children Maddox and Zahara Marley and have been staying at the luxury Burning Shores resort. Since their arrival, the world's press has descended to the region in the hope of photographing eight months pregnant Jolie and her family. In a signed statement given to the Namibian press, the couple write, "We love Africa and to be here in Namibia with our family is very special for us. To the local people who have been so kind and gracious, thank you for making us feel at home. As for the press, we kindly ask for privacy so that we can enjoy this beautiful country with our children." Supporting their concerns, Namibian Prime Minister Nahas Angula told the media, "This lady is expecting. You guys are harassing her. Why don't you allow her some privacy? Harassment is not allowed in Namibia. If a person says they don't want to be photographed then, of course, that person deserves protection."

Cruise: "Baby Experience Was Just What We Wanted"

An excited Tom Cruise has spoken about the birth of his baby girl, Suri, admitting the labor experience was everything he and his fiancee Katie Holmes could have wished for. The Mission: Impossible III movie star sat down with US newscaster Deborah Roberts for his first post-birth interview, which will air tonight on news magazine show 20/20. Cruise told Roberts, "It was everything that we wanted. You hear about it and you experience it. It was spiritual, it was powerful, it was indescribable. What words can you use? It's still something I'm processing and reliving." Holmes gave birth to Suri on Tuesday in Los Angeles. In a related story, language experts are amazed that Cruise and Holmes have named their baby daughter Suri - because there is no record of the name meaning "Princess" in Hebrew. According to Hebrew linguists, Suri has only two meanings - one is a person from Syria and the other "go away" when addressed to a female. Hebrew expert Jonahtan Went says, "I think it's fair to say they have made a mistake here. There are variations of the way the Hebrew name for princess is spelled but I have never seen it this way." Suri can also be translated into a Hindi boy's name, and it also means "pointy nose" in some Indian dialects and "pickpocket" in Japanese.

'Lost' Siblings Start Dating

Actors Maggie Grace and Ian Somerhalder, who play spoiled step-siblings Boone and Shannon on hit TV series Lost, are dating off-screen. The celebrity couple are regularly spotted out together in Los Angeles, but have tried to keep their budding relationship under wraps. A source confirmed the romance to American publication Us Weekly adding, "They stay out of the limelight, but they spend a lot of time hanging out and working out together at Gold's Gym (in Venice Beach, California). They kiss and hold hands when they come and go from the gym. You can tell they're a couple." The pair were romantically involved in a flashback sequence on Lost in its first season.

'United 93' Actor Refused Visa

The lead actor in 9/11 movie United 93 will miss out on the film's premiere in New York City on Tuesday, because the US Embassy is denying him a visa. London-based Lewis Alsamari plays the main hijacker in the film, which depicts the final hours of the passengers on United Airlines flight 93, which crashed in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, on September 11, 2001. But although he was granted asylum in the UK in 1998, American authorities are less keen to welcome him across the Atlantic. He explains, "I was born in Iraq but have lived in Britain since 1995 and am about to apply for British citizenship."

Spears No-Show at Federline Gig

Britney Spears has sparked further reports her marriage to Kevin Federline is in trouble, after she failed to attend his album listening party on Friday. The couple and their seven-month-old son Sean Preston arrived in Las Vegas, Nevada, last week, ahead of aspiring rapper Federline's gig at the Pure nightclub at the Caesar's Palace. Local newspaper the Las Vegas Review Journal reports the couple were spotted arguing in Caesar's Nero restaurant ahead of Federline's bash and Spears retired to their hotel suite in tears. Federline went on to perform two songs, "America's Most Hated" and "Rockstar" from his debut album Playing With Fire, after an introduction by Paris Hilton's mother Kathy. Federline entertained a few hundred fans, as well as celebrity friends, former Fresh Prince Of Bel Air actress Tatyana Ali and Kathy's husband Rick - but his superstar wife was nowhere to be seen.

Marriage Over for 'X Files' Star Anderson

The X Files star Gillian Anderson has split up with her husband Julian Ozanne, it was announced Friday night. The 37-year-old actress married photojournalist and documentary filmmaker Ozanne in 2004, and settled in London with her 11-year-old daughter Piper from her previous marriage to Clyde Klotz. A statement from Schillings, the couple's solicitor says, "Gillian Anderson and her husband Julian Ozanne are saddened to announce that their marriage is at an end and they are in the process of separating. At this difficult time they request that their privacy is respected. There will be no further comment."

DiCaprio Rushed for MRI Scan

Hollywood heart-throb Leonardo DiCaprio was taken to hospital by air-ambulance from his African movie set on Friday, amid fears he had suffered internal injuries during a fall. The 31-year-old star, who is currently filming new movie The Blood Diamond in Mozambique, was flown by helicopter to a clinic in Nelspruit, South Africa, for an MRI scan after slipping and injuring his knee on set. Relieved doctors confirmed the Titanic actor had suffered no internal bleeding and DiCaprio returned to filming yesterday. Last night his spokesperson confirmed, "He went to the clinic and was examined but he was back at work today."

Sean Patrick Thomas Weds

Save The Last Dance heart-throb Sean Patrick Thomas married actress Aonika Laurent in New Orleans, Louisiana on Saturday. The actors originally planned to wed in Laurent's hometown of New Orleans last year, but postponed their nuptials after Hurricane Katrina ravaged the city last August. The couple, both aged 35, met at a Hollywood party hosted by Barbershop director Tim Story, US magazine People reports. Thomas will next be seen onscreen in The Fountain and as Louis Armstrong in Saint Louis Blues.

Dancy Denies Slamming McConaughey

Hugh Dancy has denied ever labeling his rival screen heart-throb Matthew McConaughey "glib." The Shooting Dogs star was quoted as having no time for frothy romantic comedies and even less patience with the actors who star in them. Dancy was reported to have told the New York Daily News, "If I'm flipping through TV stations and a Matthew McConaughey film comes on, I'll change it after three minutes. He is representative of all modern day romances. He's too glib, it's too easy. There's not enough passion." But Dancy's spokeswoman Tori Cook says, "Hugh Dancy has never made any disparaging remarks about Matthew McConaughey at all."

Actress Valli Dies

The Third Man actress Alida Valli died at her home in Rome, Italy on Saturday. She was 84.
