Lachey Unsure If Simpson Cheated

Singer/actor Nick Lachey wishes he had found ex-wife Jessica Simpson having sex with another man - as it would have made the demise of their ill-fated marriage more final. The couple split five months ago and the actor is still sorting out what exactly went wrong in their relationship. He tells Rolling Stone magazine, "I don't know if there were other men. But if she did cheat, it was the result of something bigger, not the reason we didn't work. Sometimes I think it would be easier if I had just walked in the house and found her in bed with a guy. That would be clear-cut. End of story. I wouldn't have to deal with the uncertainty of adultery." The singer also insists he had no idea his marriage to Simpson was over until she announced her decision, telling the magazine, "I'll tell you how I knew my marriage was over: I was told."

Holmes Home from Hospital

Actress Katie Holmes has been discharged after giving birth to baby girl Suri on Tuesday afternoon in a Los Angeles hospital. The birth went so smoothly, the former Dawson's Creek star was sent home from the facility within 24 hours. Holmes delivered the baby just down the hall from where actress Brooke Shields gave birth to her daughter Grier the same day. A source close to Holmes' family says, "(Suri) has lots and lots of dark hair and big, blue eyes. She's going to be a beautiful baby." Cruise sent an email to TV host Diane Sawyer, whose interview with the star aired Friday on TV's Primetime. Sawyer read the email yesterday on Good Morning America. Cruise wrote that the new baby was "glorious" and also said Holmes "was and is a champ through the whole labor process." Hordes of paparazzi are currently camped out in front of the couple's Beverly Hills, California mansion hoping to score the first photo of the baby, which is estimated to sell for $2 million. The actor cancelled promotional duties for his new film Mission: Impossible III scheduled for yesterday. The film has premieres scheduled in Rome, London and Paris next week. A spokesman for Paramount Pictures said decisions as to which events Cruise will attend will be made on a day-to-day basis.

Grazer Splits from Wife

Hollywood film-maker Brian Grazer has split from his wife, novelist Gigi Levangie-Grazer after eight years of marriage. The producer, 54, filed for legal separation from Levangie-Grazer in Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday, citing "irreconcilable differences." Grazer, who has produced movie hits including A Beautiful Mind, Cinderella Man, 8 Mile, Liar Liar and My Girl, is seeking joint custody of the couple's sons Patrick, 2 and Thomas, 6. Levangie-Grazer wrote the screenplay for the 1998 movie Stepmom, starring Susan Sarandon and Julia Roberts.

Hatcher Receives Apology from British Paper

Desperate Housewives actress Teri Hatcher has received a published apology from a British newspaper which published a false sex story last year. The Sun claimed Hatcher indulged in steamy romps in a camper van parked outside her Los Angeles home in its August 2 story. But the paper wrote in today's edition, "An article on August 2 last year, 'Wagon Squeals', stated that actress Teri Hatcher had sex romps in her VW campervan at her home. Although we published in good faith, we now accept that the article was totally incorrect and we apologize to Ms Hatcher for the embarrassment caused." In December, Hatcher accepted a "very substantial" payout from rival British paper the Daily Sport, who published the van romp allegations on their front page, following a trial at London's High Court.

Jolie's Lesbian Ex Warns Pitt

Angelina Jolie's former lesbian lover has given Brad Pitt pause for thought after confessing she thinks the actress-turned-humanitarian will return to her bisexual ways. Actress Jenny Shimizu insists Jolie's romance with Pitt won't last for long because she will soon crave the love of a woman. Shimizu, who dated Jolie on and off after appearing alongside the actress in Foxfire in 1996, says, "I was her first and although she's having a baby with Brad I doubt I'll be the last. She loves women too much. It's like a drug and she was hooked." Shimizu, who is now dating bisexual British TV presenter Rebecca Loos, admits she was crazy about the Hollywood star during their passionate relationship, revealing, "I don't want to sound like I hustle a**, but, for a while back then, if Angelina called, I'd drop everything and join her wherever she was in the world. It's her mouth that made me beg for more - kissing me passionately with those full lips over every inch of my body. It's unbelievable what she can do."

Watts and Schreiber Engaged?

Naomi Watts and Liev Shreiber have reportedly become the latest celebrity couple heading for the wedding chapel after the King Kong star accepted her actor beau's marriage proposal. The couple has been spotted shopping for engagement rings in Los Angeles. An insider at top store Antiquarius tells America's In Touch magazine the couple were shopping for $400,000 rings earlier this month. Meanwhile, another source tells tabloid the Star the couple bought an engagement ring from celebrity jeweler Neil Lane. According to the insider the pair purchased an elegant cushion-cut, 5-carat diamond sparkler worth $150,000. Media reports had the couple planning to elope earlier this year, after Schreiber proposed to Watts in December. This will be both stars' first marriage. Watts' publicist was unavailable for comment when WENN went to press.

Lange Honored by Lincoln Center

Oscar winner Jessica Lange was taken by surprise when she was honored by New York City's Film Society Of Lincoln Center on Monday night, when her celebrity pals took to the stage to talk about her short-comings. The Tootsie actress was paid the tribute by the renowned cinematic body in recognition of her contribution to film and television. Misery actress Kathy Bates took the stage with Joan Allen to make fun of Lange's perceived lack of a sense of humor, with Allen saying, "Remember that time in the make-up room (on Bonneville) when she told us not to buy from Exxon because their profits were too high. She's a laugh riot!" Scottish actor Alan Cumming recalled starring naked alongside Lange, who turns 57 tomorrow, in Titus. He said to her, "I don't know what you're talking about Jessica, but you've got fantastic tits." To which she replied, "Please, if your hand weren't there that thing would be halfway round my back."

Takei Joins Gay Student Rally

Star Trek actor George Takei joined a group of student gay activists trying to visit a Christian university in Minneapolis on Monday - helping them raise awareness about homosexuality. Takei, who played Hikaru Sulu in the hit space saga, came out as homosexual last year. And as he was speaking at a nearby gay pride event at the University Of Minnesota, he decided to join the Soulforce Equality Riders' rally at the North Central University. The college is owned by the Assemblies Of God, an institution allegedly opposed to homosexuality. Takei, 68, noted the activists' "equality trek" shares the same spirit as Star Trek, which also championed equal rights. He says, "They have shown courage and character in showing that most people of faith are not extreme reactionaries who oppose equal rights." Organizer Jacob Reitan explains the colleges they are visiting "equate homosexuality with sickness and sin. It's time to have a conversation instead of defaming our humanity."

Basinger To Join '24' Cast?

Kim Basinger is set to join the cast of hit drama 24 after confessing to star Kiefer Sutherland that she's a huge fan. Basinger has just played opposite Sutherland in thriller The Sentinel and is now considering joining the cast of his TV series for its next season. She says, "I love that show. That would be cool." Sutherland admits he's delighted at the thought of Basinger becoming a regular: "I'm gonna hold her to that." If she signs up for a guest spot, Basinger won't be the only movie star to appear in 24 - Lord Of The Rings actor Sean Astin, Julian Sands and The Mummy villain Arnold Vosloo have joined the cast in the past.
