Thurman and Balazs Split

Hollywood beauty Uma Thurman and hotelier Andre Balazs have split up after dating for over two years. The Kill Bill star, 35, and property tycoon, 48, began dating in December 2003 - only four months after the actress separated with ex-husband Ethan Hawke. After attending the Oscars on Sunday alone, Thurman confirmed speculation she was single again. A statement to the New York Post confirms, "Unfortunately it's true. But we remain close friends." In January, Thurman gushed about Balazs in interviews, declaring, "Everyone constantly taunts you that rebound relationships aren't a good idea and they don't work. But mine is working, surprisingly." Thurman has two children, Maya and Roan, from her six year marriage to Hawke and was previously married to English actor Gary Oldman.

Boy George Charges Dropped

British pop star Boy George dodged a five and a half year prison sentence yesterday, after a New York City court dropped charges of cocaine possession against him. During the hearing at Manhattan Criminal Court, the former Culture Club singer - real name George O'Dowd - pleaded guilty to wasting police time by falsely reporting a burglary last year. The troubled 44-year-old was sentenced to five days of community service and fined $1,000. He must also pay court costs of $160 and has been ordered to attend a drug rehabilitation program. O'Dowd says, "I am relieved and happy that this case has been disposed of. I love New York and I'm looking forward to coming back and working in the States later this year." O'Dowd was arrested at his Manhattan home on October 7 after police found 13 bags of cocaine following a burglary call to the apartment. The singer's lawyer Lou Freeman maintained that many people had attended a party at the apartment and that his client didn't know who owned the drug.

Hatcher's Trust Issues After Child Abuse

Teri Hatcher finds it difficult to trust men after enduring sexual abuse at the hands of her uncle as a child. The Desperate Housewives star bravely assisted police in jailing pedophile Richard Hayes Stone when she heard his abuse had driven a teenager to suicide. But despite having moved on with her life, Hatcher, who was molested by Stone between the ages of five to eight, has suffered a disastrous love life as a result of her horrific experiences. She says, "I am a woman who carries around all these layers of fear and vulnerability. The biggest effect to me is this area of love and men, which hasn't been so great."

Hilton Restraining Order Altered

A Los Angeles party planner's restraining order against socialite Paris Hilton has an unusual twist - the warring pair are allowed to attend the same parties. Promoter Brian Quintana, 37, was granted a court order last month, ordering the hotel heiress, 25, to stay at least 100 yards away from him. However, the distance is reduced to 25 feet if the couple are at the same social event. Quintana complained Hilton bombarded him with threatening phone calls and insulted him with racial slurs after their friendship ended. He claims he introduced The Simple Life star to her current boyfriend Stavros Niarchos III, but fell foul of Hilton when he advised the Greek shipping heir to reconsider his relationship with the party girl. After Hilton was recently refused entry to a Grammy party last month because of Quintana's presence at the event, their attorneys drafted an unusual restraining order that was approved by Los Angeles Court Commissioner Tim Murphy on Monday. When the pair attend the same bashes, "the stay-away distance may be shortened to 25 feet."

Trump: "I'd Date Ivanka"

Property tycoon Donald Trump has sparked controversy after declaring he Would date his sexy daughter Ivanka if they were not related. Trump insists he would be comfortable if the 24-year-old model decided to strip off for men's magazine Playboy, because he would be the first to ogle her if he wasn't her dad. He says, "If she posed, it would be fine. She does have a very nice figure. I've said if she wasn't my daughter, perhaps I'd be dating her." Trump's spokesman has attempted to explain The Apprentice reality star's comments, saying, "He was making fun of himself for his tendency to date younger women. It's a sense of humor that people don't see all the time."

Troubled Renfro Jailed

Actor Brad Renfro has been jailed just two days after her was ordered to enter a drug rehabilitation program after pleading not guilty to attempted possession of heroin. The 23-year-old star of The Client was incarcerated yesterday for violating his probation after being charged with driving under the influence. It was the actor's third DUI offense, and cost him 10 days in LA County jail. Renfro was also ordered to attend an alcohol control program. In return for pleading guilty to driving drunk, other charges, including driving with a suspended license, were dismissed.

Is Spears Pregnant?

Singer Britney Spears is three months pregnant with her second child, according to press reports in America. Speculation has been growing that Spears and husband Kevin Federline are expanding their family - less than six months after the birth of their first child Sean Preston. American publication Star claims the singer blurted out the news to a fellow spa-goer at the luxurious Four Seasons Resort in Maui, Hawaii, while they were relaxing in the sauna together. The singer had lost much of the 50 pounds she gained while pregnant last year, but recent photographs have exposed her unusually rounded mid-section, fueling rumors she is expecting again. According to the magazine, the 24-year-old is near the end of her first trimester and found out she was pregnant in early January. Spears was photographed on Tuesday in a bikini and made no effort to hide her clearly protruding stomach. Representatives for the star say, "As far as we're aware, Britney is not pregnant."

King Bringing 'Cell' to Big Screen

Author Stephen King is teaming with Hostel director Eli Roth to bring his best-selling book Cell to the big screen. Roth recently read the thriller, which sees a mysterious pulse sent through cellular phones turn humans into crazed zombies, and immediately began plans for a movie. Roth says, "I couldn't put it down. It was such a balls-out horror movie with a smart take on the zombie genre." The director is keen to write the screenplay for the film, possibly alongside King, and will start on the project as soon as he finishes directing Hostel 2.

Are Ford and Flockhart Engaged?

Harrison Ford has proposed to longtime girlfriend Calista Flockhart over coffee and croissants, according to media reports in America. Weekly publication In Touch is reporting Ford hid a two-carat diamond engagement ring in a bakery bag, so the actress would find it as she reached for a croissant. A source tells the magazine, "When Calista reached in the bag she found a gorgeous two-carat diamond from Tiffany's." Flockhart's publicists insist the engagement story isn't true, and the couple, who have been together for four years, are not planning to wed anytime soon.

Oscar-winner Morgan Freeman urged wannabe actors to never give up their acting dreams as he accepted a university college honor on Tuesday. The Unforgiven actor, 68, was honored with the Spencer Tracy Award for lifetime achievement in cinema by the University Of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Freeman said, "Once you've gotten the job, there's nothing to it. If you're an actor, you're an actor. Doing it is not the hard part. The hard part is getting to do it." Freeman, who won an Academy Award last year for Million Dollar Baby, said he felt privileged to receive a Tracy award, after previous recipients James Stewart, Michael Douglas, Denzel Washington, Tom Hanks and Sir Anthony Hopkins.
