Michael Admits to "Stupid" Drugs Possession
Pop superstar George Michael
has admitted to possessing drugs after he was discovered slumped at the wheel of his car in the early hours of Sunday morning. The singer claims the incident, in which he was woken by police as he sat in his vehicle near London's Hyde Park Corner at approximately 1:50am, was his "own stupid fault, as usual." Two packets containing cannabis were allegedly found in Michael's car after a concerned passer-by alerted police to his predicament. A police spokesman has since confirmed Michael was held on suspicion of possessing class C drugs, a group which includes cannabis, tranquilizers and certain painkillers. In a statement released yesterday, the singer said, "It's my own stupid fault, as usual. I was in possession of class C drugs, which is an offence, and I have no complaints about the police, who were professional throughout." And in a reference to his song "Outside," about his 1998 arrest for engaging in a "lewd act" in a Los Angeles public toilet, Michael jokingly added, "I promise I won't make a record out of this one - even though it's tempting." Michael was also keen to point out that a police doctor who tested him concluded he was capable of driving. It has also emerged a police officer gave the millionaire a lift to his Hampstead home when he was bailed at 9am yesterday, after cops accidentally immobilized his car. Michael must return to West End Central police station next month when the substances have been analyzed.

Anna Nicole Heads to Supreme Court
Former Playboy model Anna Nicole Smith
will attend a hearing regarding her multi-million dollar inheritance case when it is argued in front of the Us Supreme Court later today. The former exotic dancer has been in a decade-long court battle to inherit half of the $1.6 billion estate left by her late husband, Texas oil tycoon Howard Marshall. Smith met Marshall at an adult club where she was a dancer and the couple married in 1994, when she was 26 and he was 89. They were together for a year before Marshall died of cancer, leaving no mention of Smith in his will. Marshall's son, Pierce, has gone to great lengths to keep Smith from receiving any money. According to Smith's lawyer, Kent Richland, "She is planning to attend. She's really sort of honored and awed that the court agreed to hear her case." Out of respect for the somber location of the hearings, Richland noted, "She'll be demurely dressed."
Witherspoon Beats Roberts' Record
Slovakia Outraged by 'Hostel'
Government officials in Slovakia have expressed their concern that new backpacker horror movie Hostel
makes their country appear dangerous. The Eli Roth
-directed movie, which shows three travelers heading to a Slovakian city and falling prey to a brutal torture ring, has caused outrage among the country's politicians, who feel it will tarnish their nation's reputation. Member of Parliament Tomas Galbavy says, "I am offended by this film. I think that all Slovaks should feel offended." Galbavy called Hostel, which was shot in the neighboring Czech Republic, "a monstrosity that does not at all reflect reality" and added it would "damage the good reputation of Slovakia." Slovak culture minister Linda Heldichova adds, "We are unanimous in saying that this film damages the image of our country." But director Roth insists his aim in making the film was not to offend Slovakians but to highlight the ignorance of US cinema-goers. He says, "Americans do not even know that this country exists. My film is not a geographical work but aims to show Americans' ignorance of the world around them."
Spears Denies Second Pregnancy
Pop star Britney Spears
has rubbished speculation she is expecting a second child, just seven months after giving birth to baby Sean Preston. The singer was rushed to hospital last week fueling rumors she was suffering from severe morning sickness. A source tells gossip site The Scoop, "She was throwing up and had stomach cramps. She's pregnant." But Spears' rep has slammed the story, insisting, "It's not true. She's not pregnant." Earlier this month, reports claimed the star had announced her second pregnancy at Malibu, California store Shabby Chic, declaring, "That's right, number two," while proudly rubbing her rounded belly.
Duchovny & Leoni Lose Building Battle
Hollywood couple David Duchovny
and Tea Leoni
have lost their bid to stop developers building a apartment block which will tower over their Malibu, California home. The couple had hoped to block the multi-million dollar complex from Being built, citing ecological and geographical damage. Leoni even appeared before the Malibu Planning Commission last week in a bid to sweet talk them into saying no to the proposed development, but the building application was approved. Entertainment news website Tmz.com suggests Duchovny and Leoni also had privacy concerns about the new building. A planning commission source tells the site, "Tea told planning officials that David loves to swim and shower naked in their backyard."
Clooney Denies Barr's Genital Claims
has laughed off Roseanne Barr
's outrageous claims they once got so drunk together he allowed her to keep a photograph of his genitals, insisting she has twisted the truth. The comedienne recently alleged that Clooney, who found fame as Booker Brooks on her sitcom Roseanne
, posed for the saucy picture during a raucous drinking session, and allowed her to display the image in her kitchen. She said, "We were all drunk, John Goodman
took a picture of George naked with Groucho Marx
glasses over his private area and we used to have that on the fridge." However, while the Oscar-nominee admits the tale is partly true, he insists Barr played no part in his puerile prank. He tells the New York Daily News, "I called it The Face. But I knew better than to do it at that stage of my career. I must have told her the story."
Gervais: "'Simpsons' Role Was Dream Come True"
British funnyman Ricky Gervais
has hailed his cameo on cult cartoon The Simpsons
as the pinnacle of his comedic career. The Office
star, who refers to the Matt Groening
-created show as "the greatest TV comedy of all time," admits he's still in shock at the opportunity to appear alongside his yellow heroes. He tells the New York Daily News, "It was like I'd won a competition. I'm genuinely worried that Hollywood got together and talked to my doctors and found out I've only got a few months to live and said, 'Just let him do what he wants to do.' I'm in awe of (The Simpsons
) and have been for at least 10 years. When I first got into comedy, my ambition was to get a joke on The Simpsons
. So to write and star in one is ridiculous. Remarkably, I've got to a place where I'm cherry-picking jobs and I'm cherry-picking jobs (with) my heroes. I mean, really! The Simpsons
!" Gervais' episode airs on March 26 and sees Homer and long-suffering spouse Marge picked for a wife-swap reality show.

and Sarah Jessica Parker
star as onscreen sweethearts in Failure To Launch
, but the actor reportedly couldn't stand Parker off-screen and found her "peculiar." The pair were starring in a breezy romantic comedy, but sources on the set say filming was anything but fun. One insider tells Msnbc's The Scoop website, "Matthew gets along with pretty much everyone, but he basically couldn't bear Sarah." The actor recently made an appearance on Oprah Winfrey
's talk show and seemed to struggle when asked about the former Sex And The City
star. When asked by Winfrey to sum-up working with Parker, the actor eventually came up with, "Great comedic timing." The actor then added, "Very peculiar, too. Man, she's a very interesting woman. Yeah."
