Cruise and Holmes Not Separating

Tom Cruise's publicists are furiously denied reports the movie hunk and his pregnant fiancee Katie Holmes are splitting. Soon after reports in US tabloid Life & Style surfaced yesterday, suggesting the couple had called off their wedding plans, Cruise's handlers fired off a statement rubbishing the claims. The magazine claims it has quotes from several confirmed sources revealing the couple's relationship is over. The insiders claim Cruise, 43, and Holmes, 27, plan to keep the romance going until the birth of their baby this spring. The couple reportedly will live in Cruise's Beverly Hills, California mansion and stay in separate bedrooms through the summer and then officially announce the separation. The tabloid claims Cruise plans to buy a home nearby for Holmes so he has access to his child and that they will share custody. But Cruise's publicist blasts the reports, stating, "The story is 100 percent false. Mr. Cruise and Ms. Holmes are still engaged and are moving forward with their wedding plans, as well as planning for the arrival of their child. Despite the malicious fallacies put forth by Life & Style magazine, the couple is looking forward to a long and happy life together as a family."

Doherty in Car Crash Drama

Former Beverly Hills, 90210 star Shannen Doherty in recovering from minor injuries after her Range Rover collided with a Mustang Monday morning. The 34-year-old actress and the driver of the Mustang, James Paul, were both injured in the accident in Malibu, California. Police Lieutenant Steve Wilson confirms Paul was taken to a local hospital, while Doherty complained of pain following the crash, but declined medical treatment at the scene. Wilson adds that despite investigators listing Doherty as "the party most at fault," the star has not been cited. Doherty's publicist Leslie Sloane says, "She went in a private car to Cedars-Sinai (Medical Center). She refused to go in an ambulance. She was examined in the emergency room for thigh bruises and cuts. She's in pain a little bit. Her left side is 'a little messed up', to use her words."

Clooney, Stewart Poke Fun at Cheney

Oscar-nominee George Clooney and awards host Jon Stewart have publicly mocked US Vice President Dick Cheney during a star-studded Academy Awards lunch. Clooney, renowned for his opposition to the Bush administration, joked that Cheney had initially invited him to the hunting trip, at which he accidentally shot a colleague. And he told the Beverly Hills audience on Monday that he planned to return Cheney's generosity by bringing him along to the Academy Awards next month. He says, "I'm bringing Dick Cheney as my date. It's so nice - he called me up and wanted me to go hunting so I invited him to be my (Oscar) date. I don't know if that's overly political." Oscar producer Gil Cates also promised the 116 nominees attending the lunch that the show's host, Jon Stewart, would mention the shooting incident again during the ceremony. He said, "Jon told me that part of the show that night will have him talking about how Cheney stands by the shooting and he would do it again, and that the guy was wrong, he obviously shouldn't have been there." Clooney has been named in three Academy Award categories, including Best Director for his efforts with the politically-charged Good Night, And Good Luck.

Oldman Will Make Harry Potter Return

Harry Potter producers have confirmed Gary Oldman will reprise his role as Sirius Black in Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix - despite reports to the contrary. Oldman, who has appeared in the last two movies adapted from JK Rowling's popular children's books, has yet to be signed for a third term - even though filming for Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix has already begun. But producer David Heyman insists there is plenty of time for Oldman to sign up: "We're not shooting his part for quite a while, and as is always the case, you begin with the parts that are most pressing. We have every intention of having Gary Oldman play Sirius Black." The 47-year-old is currently shooting Zodiac in Los Angeles with director David Fincher.

Abrams Won't Drop Rodriguez Despite Legal Woes

Lost creator JJ Abrams insists Michelle Rodriguez will not be dropped from the hit US TV show despite facing serious drunk driving charges. The Resident Evil actress was caught speeding in Hawaii, where Lost is filmed, three times last year, and was charged with DUI offenses after an incident on November 30. But Abrams is keen to stand by the actress, who plays Ana Lucia in the show's second season. He tells the New York Post, "While we don't want to report on the fate of any of the characters on the show I would say without question, that any reports that anything that's going on with any of the actors as being problematic or resulting in changing the storyline to sort of, you know, get rid of them, is just erroneous and silliness. There's a lot of stuff that has happened that's extracurricular, and it's in the news. It becomes fodder for speculation."

Portman Doesn't Agree with 'Munich'

Israeli-born actress Natalie Portman admires Steven Spielberg for making Oscar-nominated movie Munich, but admits she doesn't "agree with half" of the film. The beauty was intrigued to watch Spielberg's depiction of Israel's secret service Mossad exerting revenge following the murder of 11 Israeli athletes at the 1972 Olympics in Germany. Portman tells US magazine Entertainment Weekly, "(I don't) agree with half of what's in Munich, but political filmmaking is about putting something out there that people aren't going to like." The Star Wars actress is preparing to cause similar controversy with her forthcoming movie V For Vendetta, which focuses on a terrorist plot to blow up London's Houses Of Parliament. Portman explains, "Some people (will be) like, 'This is an anti-fascism movie!' and some like, 'This is Iraq!'"

Hurt's Oscar Stolen

Academy Award nominee William Hurt is furious someone stole his Oscar while he was moving last year. Hurt is currently nominated as Best Supporting Actor for A History Of Violence, and won the Best Actor Oscar for Kiss Of The Spider Woman in 1985. He explains, "I think it happened last June. The house was being moved. It just got lost in transition." The star says he is still trying to track down his missing award, even though he never kept it on display. He adds, "I don't sport trophies around the home. I don't want my children thinking of me that way. Somebody ripped it off. I'm trying to get it replaced... I'm p**sed off."

Hilton Caught Up in PETA Anti-Fur Attack

Socialite Paris Hilton has become the latest target for animal rights group People For The Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) - literally. The Simple Life star was ambushed by an anti-fur activists last night as she made her way to a London Fashion Week after-show party with designer Julien Macdonald, after modeling at his show earlier in the evening. But PETA protestors weren't after Hilton - they were out to attack Welsh MacDonald for his "relentless use of fur." In a show last autumn he even draped a baby fox fur around the neck of Jade Jagger. He and his society guest, Hilton, were pelted with flour as they made their way to his late-night party. PETA Europe's Yvonne Taylor says, "Julien MacDonald may have been able to ignore images of bloody skinned animals gasping for breath in the past, but hopefully a dash of flour will help him rise to the occasion and forsake fur once and for all."

Ledger Explains Ennis Choice

Actor Heath Ledger agreed to play the role of Ennis Del Mar in Brokeback Mountain because he was keen to express the cowboy's repressed emotions through body language. Director Ang Lee allowed Ledger to choose between the two leading male roles, and Ledger found he could identify with Ennis' struggle. He explains, "I really liked that he had very few words to express his battle. I like representing emotions in the body and in the voice." The actor perfected the character's accent by combining the regional accent of Wyoming and adding "a splash of Texas." He adds, "The accent and the mouth, the clenched fist... he was a clenched person and any form of expression I wanted to be painful, including words and speaking. The words had to fight their way out from within."

Sizemore Sent Back to Rehab

Movie star Tom Sizemore has been ordered back into rehabilitation after admitting he "slipped up" and used methamphetamines during his original probation period last week. The Black Hawk Down star, 44, has also been given a further three years of probation. Optimistic Sizemore says, "Slips are part of the recovery... but too many slips and of course... you're in a relapse and that's when you've got to return to rehab."
