Witherspoon Photographer Found Dead

A paparazzo who was charged with battery and child endangerment after attempting to get a photo of Reese Witherspoon and her children at a Disney theme park has been found dead. Friends of photographer Todd Wallace discovered his body in his Brentwood, California apartment, but his identity couldn't be confirmed because of the state of the body. Witherspoon was celebrating her daughter Ava's sixth birthday at Disney's California Adventure, along with a group of children, when Wallace attempted to take pictures of them last September. When the group declined to be photographed, Wallace became enraged, shoving one child and hitting another with his camera in an attempt to get shots of the star. Two theme park employees attempted to restrain the irate photographer, and he reportedly struck them, while cursing at Witherspoon and causing some of the children to burst into tears. Wallace was subsequently charged with six misdemeanor charges and pleaded innocent in October. After Wallace failed to show up at a bail hearing in December a judge issued a warrant for his arrest. The photographer was also scheduled to be arraigned December 27 on an unrelated charge of petty theft but it is unclear from court records whether he attended.
Stones Agreed to Super Bowl Censorship

Veteran rockers The Rolling Stones agreed to the censorship of sexually suggestive lyrics during their three-song set at the Super Bowl half-time show on Sunday night. The band consented before the show - which aired to almost 1 billion television viewers around the globe - that editors at the National Football League (NFL) could turn down Sir Mick Jagger's microphone for risqué lines in hits "Start Me Up" and "Rough Justice." It was previously reported that the group had been censored in an ABC five-second tape delay, over network fears a repeat of Janet Jackson's infamous wardrobe malfunction at the American football event two years ago would mar proceedings. An NFL spokesman confirmed, "We agreed upon it earlier this week. The band were fine with it. If we had missed it, then ABC had five seconds to hit the button."
Spears' TV Appearance Refuels NBC/Christian Group War
Britney Spears' planned appearance on hit TV show Will & Grace has sparked anger from Christian campaigners the American Family Association (AFA). The Mississippi-based group are calling for the episode to be cancelled amid claims the storyline will see Spears star as a TV host for a program named 'Cruci-fixin's.' The AFA insists the show "mocks the crucifixion of Christ" and believe the designated April 13 broadcast slot "further denigrates Christianity" because it is the eve of Christian celebration day, Good Friday. The group's protests last month lead to the cancellation of NBC's The Book Of Daniel which featured a drug-taking priest. AFA founder Don Wildmon says, "NBC is clearly mocking the Christian faith. I think they are smarting from the Book Of Daniel defeat that they suffered, and this is their way to get even." NBC issued a statement in defense of the accusations, claiming Spears' role has yet to be determined. It read, "Some erroneous information was mistakenly included in a press release describing an upcoming episode of Will & Grace, which, in fact, has yet to be written."

Lagerfield Laughs Off Lohan's Chanel Claims

Chanel designer Karl Lagerfield has laughed off singer/actress Lindsay Lohan's claims she will front the fashion house's next advertising campaign, insisting she is too immature. In December the Mean Girls star boasted she had won a lucrative contract with the fashion giant, following supermodel Kate Moss' dismissal over allegations of drug abuse. But chief designer Lagerfield insists the label needs more sophisticated icons, such as film star Nicole Kidman - who advertises signature scent Chanel Number 5. The 67-year-old tells New York magazine, "I prefer Nicole Kidman and that generation."
Police Investigate Claims Ruffalo Beat Up Photographer

Police officials in Culver City, Los Angeles are investigating allegations that actor Mark Ruffalo assaulted a paparazzo at pal Chris Penn's funeral on Saturday. Ruffalo and Penn's brother Sean Penn were allegedly involved in an altercation with a photographer outside the Holy Cross Cemetery & Mortuary. Ruffalo allegedly seized the photographer's video card out of his camera and refused to give it back. The Just Like Heaven star was the subject of a criminal complaint filed by the snapper after the funeral. An official in the Culver City Police Department tells entertainment news website Tmz.com that his department has taken note that the photographer was on private property without permission.
Jackson To Release Pope Prayers?

Pop superstar Michael Jackson has been asked by the Roman Catholic Church to set the prayers of the late Pope John Paul II to music. The 47-year-old singer was chosen to write music for the 24 prayers and chants, after Vatican officials decided his global celebrity would best promote their holy message. Father Giuseppe Moscati says, "We have the rights for the 24 prayers written by Pope John Paul. We had hoped the fact that we have been in contact with Michael Jackson would remain a secret. But sadly it has leaked out ahead of time. We are in discussions and trying to sort it out." The priest, who is head of the Millennium Music Society, insisted Jackson's hard-won battle against child molestation charges did not discount him as a candidate. He adds, "He was cleared and found not guilty by a jury. Michael Jackson is very interested in this project - we shall see what happens."
Oscars Affect Clooney's Basketball Schedule

Oscar nominee George Clooney has joked that his appearance at the Academy Awards next month will depend on his basketball commitments. The Hollywood heart-throb is tipped for success in the Best Supporting Actor category for Syriana, as well as receiving nods for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay for Good Night, And Good Luck, which is up for six gongs in total at the star-studded ceremony. But laid-back Clooney jested he'd only pencil the date in his diary if it fits into his weekend sporting regime. He said, "What day is it on? Is it a Sunday? If it's on a Sunday, I can play basketball, cause Sunday's basketball day. Yeah, then I can play basketball. What time does it start? It starts early. Five o'clock? So, you've got to get there earlier, you've got to leave at 3:30 cause there'll be a long line. Play ball at noon. I can make it. I can still make it there."
Longoria Denies Engagement Rumors

Actress Eva Longoria denies she is engaged to her basketball boyfriend Tony Parker, insisting thoughts of a wedding are premature. The Desperate Housewives star previously married actor Tyler Christopher when she was 27, but their January 2005 divorce left her hesitant to remarry too soon. She says, "Believe me, I would shout it from the highest mountain. I married before when I was too young and eloped to Vegas. This time I'd love to have an engagement and a big wedding and do it properly. But we're doing fine, let us go at our own pace."
Soderbergh's Wife Hits Out at Divorce Rumors

The wife of Ocean's Eleven director Steven Soderbergh has dismissed reports her three year marriage to the film-maker is over as "not true." Jules Asner has rubbished a story on the website of her former E! Entertainment Television colleague Ted Casablanca, which said the pair are on the verge of splitting. Asner insists she and Soderbergh are still "very happy" together. Casablanca has since issued an apology and retracted the story. Asner, a former Elite model, and Soderbergh started dating in 2001 and were married in May 2003.
