Wounded Journalists Transferred Back to US
ABC News co-anchor Bob Woodruff and cameraman Doug Vogt have arrived back in the United States to receive treatment for injuries suffered in an Iraq bomb blast. A medical evacuation plane left Ramstein, Germany, and landed at Andrews Air Force Base outside of Washington DC, late yesterday. Both men are responding well to treatment and were transferred to Bethesda Naval Hospital in Maryland, which specializes in treating war injuries. According to ABC News correspondent Jim Scuitto, doctors who treated the journalists at the German hospital were optimistic about their prognosis saying, "They couldn't ask for better stats at this time. The signs are good, and we are very optimistic. They still have a long road to recovery. They've taken baby steps, but very important milestones." The two were part of an Iraqi Army convoy that was hit by an explosive device near Taji, Iraq, just north of Baghdad on Sunday.
Spielberg: "Filmmakers Are Braver in Bush's Second Term"
Steven Spielberg believes politically charged movies have become Increasingly popular during George W. Bush's presidency, because film-makers are keen to distance themselves from his policies. The director is currently courting controversy with his Oscar-nominated film Munich - which focuses on the aftermath of terrorist action at the 1972 Olympic Games - and feels the Republican administration is not representing his interests. He says, "Maybe I shouldn't get into this. I just feel that filmmakers are much more proactive since the second Bush administration. I think that everybody is trying to declare their independence and state their case for the things that we believe in. No one is really representing us, so we're now representing our own feelings, and we're trying to strike back."
Spears To Guest Star on 'Will & Grace'

Pop star Britney Spears will guest star on hit TV show Will & Grace as a Christian talk show host. It will be the first primetime sitcom appearance for the singer and new mother. In the episode, the gay 'Out TV' network is bought by a Christian television station and Spears is brought in to play Sean Hayes' character Jack's new religious co-host. Spears will also host her own cooking segment on the newly revamped, fictitious religious show, called Cruci-fixin's. The Emmy Award-winning sitcom ends its eight-year run in May. During it's air time it has become known for landing high-profile pop guests, including Madonna, Sir Elton John, Janet Jackson and Cher. The singer's episode will be taped sometime this month and is scheduled to air on April 13.
Weisz Unsure About Oscar

British actress Rachel Weisz is lacking confidence about her recent Academy Award nomination for her role in The Constant Gardener. The modest star is nominated for the Performance By An Actress In A Supporting Role Oscar, but fears contenders Michelle Williams, Amy Adams, Catherine Keener and Frances McDormand are equally talented. She says, "I've seen all the films, and they're all great performances." The same role has already earned Weisz an Outstanding Performance By A Female Actor In A Supporting Role trophy at Sunday's Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards. The Academy Award nominations were announced yesterday.
Witherspoon Almost Missed Oscar Nomination
Sweet Home Alabama star Reese Witherspoon almost missed her Oscar nomination yesterday, because she was sleeping. The actress, who was in Berlin, Germany, to promote new movie Walk The Line, has been nominated for Performance By An Actress In A Leading Role, for her portrayal of June Carter Cash in the Johnny Cash biopic. She says, "I was sleeping, they had to wake me up. I am really happy. It feels really good to be nominated. I am so proud of this movie." Witherspoon also won a Golden Globe and a SAG Award for the role.
Bevan Proud for Knightley After BAFTA Snub
Pride & Prejudice producer Tim Bevan feels vindicated by star Keira Knightley's Academy Award nomination, after being enraged by the British Academy Film Awards failure to acknowledge the actress last month. The Working Title Films co-founder was thrilled when yesterday's announcement saw Knightley's role in the Jane Austen-adaptation pit her against Judi Dench, Felicity Huffman, Charlize Theron and Reese Witherspoon in the Performance By An Actress In A Leading Role category. He says, "It was a little frustrating that our own organization (Bafta) doesn't recognize that they've got a great young actress who's proving herself." Bevan also worked with Knightley when she starred in Love Actually, which he also produced.
Grant and Barrymore Pair Up for Romantic Comedy

Actress Drew Barrymore is set to play Hugh Grant's latest love interest in a romantic comedy from Two Weeks Notice writer and director Marc Lawrence. In the film, titled Music And Lyrics By, the duo will play songwriters who fall in love while collaborating on a music project. Shooting starts at the end of March in New York City. Barrymore's company, Flower Films, will also executive produce the romantic comedy. Lawrence made his feature directing debut with Grant and Sandra Bullock on Two Weeks Notice.
Roberts' Broadway Debut Sparks Ticket-Buying Frenzy

Actress Julia Roberts' Broadway debut in Three Days Of Rain has sparked a buying frenzy, causing ticket websites to crash shortly after seats went on sale on Saturday. Tickets to see the Pretty Woman star on the New York stage are costing fans a pretty penny, with the only ones left being premium seats which cost $251.25 each. The show is nearly sold out and scored $7 million in advanced sales in one day. The Oscar-winning actress will play two characters in the limited run of Tony-winner Richard Greenberg's family mystery. Three Days Of Rain will run from March 28 to June 18.
Lachey Finds Love with Beauty Queen?
Jessica Simpson's estranged husband Nick Lachey has reportedly found love in the arms of beauty queen Lizzie Arnold. Just two months after splitting from Simpson, the former 98 Degrees star has been spotted romancing the former Miss Kentucky. The couple were seen "making out" at Los Angeles club Lax earlier last month, and now friends insist they're an item. One pal tells America's In Touch magazine, "They've been together for about a month." Sexy brunette Arnold, 28, was crowned Miss Kentucky in 2001.
Cruise Gets Romantic

Hollywood star Tom Cruise has purchased the rights to a romantic love story as his next potential film project. The actor and his production company partners have fallen for Serendipity writer Marc Klein's untitled contemporary love story. Don Granger, an executive at Cruise's production company Cruise/Wagner, says, "We believe Marc Klein has come up with an original and very moving love story." Cruise has recently completed filming Mission: Impossible 3.
