Crowe Mocks Phone-Throwing Incident

Hollywood star Russell Crowe mocked his infamous phone-throwing incident earlier this year onstage at the Australian Film Industry Awards (AFIAs) on Saturday. Crowe managed to escape serious criminal charges with a conditional discharge in a Manhattan court earlier this month after pleading guilty to the third-degree assault of Mercer Hotel employee Nestor Estrada with a telephone handset. As host of the annual AFIAs in Melbourne, Crowe warned talkative award winners they faced a phone-bashing if they spoke for too long at the televised ceremony. After walking on stage clutching an old-fashioned Bakelite telephone, Crowe said, "If there are any problems and you do get up here and go on too long. Then 'hello' to my little friend," before pointing to the phone. As well as hosting the event, Crowe picked up the International Award For Best Actor for his performance in Cinderella Man.

Kimberly Stewart Ends 11-Day Engagement

Rod Stewart's socialite daughter Kimberly Stewart has ended her 11-day engagement to reality TV star Talan Torriero, after realizing it was "too soon" to make such a serious commitment after less than two months of dating. The 26-year-old blonde and the 19-year-old Laguna Beach star became Engaged on November 16, with Torriero presenting Kimberly with a five-carat, $300,000 Neil Lane ring, after they began dating in October. However, the couple released a joint statement yesterday, saying, "It was just too soon to enter into a lifelong commitment. It is better to have a brief engagement than a short marriage. The couple continue to share their time together and remain open to whatever the future may hold." Kimberly's representative Eliot Mintz adds, "They remain friends. (They began dating) a relatively short period of time ago. It would be in the category of weeks as opposed to months." The split marks the second broken engagement for Kimberly this year, who ended her long-term romance with musician fiance Cisco Adler in May.

Fiennes Considers Legal Action After "Younger Model" Slur

British actor Ralph Fiennes is considering suing a US publication that falsely reported he'd ditched his 61-year-old lover Francesca Annis for a younger model. The Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire star, 42, is furious at an article in the New York Post which alleged he was seen flirting and canoodling with 43-year-old actress Gina Gershon. It read: "They made out in a booth and then cuddled the rest of the night." After protesting his innocence, Fiennes refused to make any further comment on the press slur, but a close friend insists, "He'll fight this all the way." The source adds, "There is no truth in any of these suggestions. It's pure personal conjecture."

Watts in Horrific 'King Kong' Fall

Hollywood star Naomi Watts was nearly left paralyzed after a horrific fall on the New Zealand set of King Kong. Watts, who plays Ann Darrow in the hotly anticipated remake, fell heavily from a height into a ditch - to the shock of cast and crew. But she insists her rigorous practice of yoga saved her from any lasting damage. She says, "I fell with quite a lot of force and I was jammed up in a hole. I had a brief period when I couldn't move and I thought I may be paralyzed. I thought, 'This is it.' But after a few seconds I was able to move and they slowly got me out. I thought, 'Thank goodness for my yoga.' It had made me supple and agile."

Pitt Spends Time and Money on Pakistan Trip

Mr. and Mrs. Smith star Brad Pitt is planning to dig deep for the victims of the Pakistan earthquake after visiting an Islamabad hospital on Saturday. The movie star and his girlfriend Angelina Jolie spent their Thanksgiving holiday in Pakistan, trying to bring a little cheer to those devastated by the October disaster, which left an estimated 86,000 dead. And Pitt is making sure he leaves his mark in Pakistan - as well as helping to distribute supplies to remote areas hit by the quake, the actor has pledged to buy 40 orthopedic beds for an Islamabad hospital, at a cost of over $100,000.

Goldberg Fights To Turn Holocaust Drama Into Movie

Whoopi Goldberg is fighting to turn German writer Hans Massaquoi's harrowing account of the Holocaust into a new movie, but studio executives can't see the point of the project. The Ghost star has spent the past seven years trying to get the film, based on Massaquoi's book Destined To Witness: Growing Up Black In Nazi Germany, made but keeps coming up with a blank when she pitches the story to movie bosses. She says, "Massaquoi lives in New Orleans now and we have been trying for several years to get this done and people keep saying to us, 'Well, what's the hook?' It is an extraordinary story that no one's ever seen before. No one really knows about it. He's a huge hero in Germany, they have nothing but love and respect for him. They have told his story in Germany. Seven years I've been trying to get it off the ground. It doesn't cost a lot to make, but that is what I wish to do more than anything."

'Scissorhands' Ballet Smashes Box Office Records

A dance adaptation of Tim Burton movie Edward Scissorhands has become an unexpected hit on the London stage - before it has even opened. Ticket sales for the ballet, based on the Johnny Depp movie, topped $1.8 million before its first night on Tuesday. The staggering booking rush beat director Matthew Bourne's own theatre box office record, and he is delighted that Burton snapped up 12 of the popular tickets. Bourne requested the rights to the story - which follows a scientist who creates a young man with scissors for hands - almost 10 years ago from the maverick film-maker, but is grateful the project eventually materialized. He says, "I gave up on it once or twice. I couldn't talk about it any longer and had to get it out of my head."

Keith Andes Dies

Tora! Tora! Tora! star Keith Andes was found dead in his Santa Clarita, California home earlier this month. He was 85. The Los Angeles County coroner's office has ruled the actor's death was suicide by asphyxiation. His longtime friend Marshall LaPlante confirmed the New Jersey-born actor had been suffering from cancer of the bladder. The New Jersey-born actor launched his film career after Hollywood studio head Darryl F. Zanuck saw him performing in the Broadway, New York production of Winged Victory and offered him a role in the film version of the play in 1944. Andes spent four decades on the big screen, with roles as Marilyn Monroe's leading man in 1952's Clash By Night, The Farmer's Daughter in 1947 and Tora! Tora! Tora! in 1970. On the small screen, he starred opposite Glynis Johns in the 1963 Sitcom Glynis and police drama The Man Dawson. Andes is survived by his two sons Mark and Matt and his grandson Ryan.

It's Official - Ross and Voight Are an Item

Soul legend Diana Ross has confirmed she is dating movie star Jon Voight, following a six year search for the right man. But even though the showbiz veterans are enjoying the early throes of romance, Ross is taking it slowly with the Midnight Cowboy actor. Her agent Phil Symes says, "It's still at an early stage. Certainly too early to say he is the new love of her life. But they have been on dates which they both enjoyed."

Lucas Injured on Movie Set

Hollywood actor Josh Lucas is sporting a cast on his left arm, after falling off a wall while filming his movie Poseidon, a remake of The Poseidon Adventure. Lucas, ex-boyfriend of Salma Hayek, has just had a steel pin removed from his left thumb, which sustained the most damage. He tells PageSix.com, "A blast of water caught me on the second-to-last day of filming Poseidon, and I fell 30 feet off a wall and tore some tendons."
