'Baywatch' Star Breaks Neck

Former Baywatch beauty Brooke Burns has been hospitalized after breaking her neck in a swimming pool accident. Brooke, who also hosts TV show Dog Eat Dog, hit her head on the pool floor in her garden after a dive went horribly wrong on Friday. She needed minor surgery to correct a broken bone in her neck but was expected home yesterday. Her spokeswoman, Jennifer Glassman, says, "There's no permanent damage. She will begin work as scheduled in January."

Stone Settles Lawsuit with Cosmetic Surgeon

Hollywood actress Sharon Stone yesterday settled the lawsuit she brought against a cosmetic surgeon last year. The Basic Instinct beauty alleged in legal papers that Dr. Renato Calabria had made false claims she had undergone face-lift surgery. The details of the settlement reached at Los Angeles County Superior Court have not been disclosed, with Calabria's lawyer Arthur Barens saying, "I can only tell you the case was settled." The case was brought by Stone after American magazines Us Weekly and In Touch ran stories claiming Stone had gone under the surgeon's knife - and Calabria was quoted, although he did not mention Stone by name. Barens continues, "All (Calabria) has ever done is discuss vertical face surgery, a technique he innovated, and articles have speculated that Stone had the procedure." Stone's legal papers state she "has never undergone a face-lift in order to improve her physical appearance. ... Stone prides herself not only on her acting ability and other talents, but also on her natural physical appearance."

Phoenix Regrets Frog Joke

Joaquin Phoenix has vowed never to joke in front of a journalist again, after one publication subsequently branded him a mad eccentric who keeps frogs on his head. The Walk the Line star, 31, was caught fiddling with his locks by a curious reporter and invented a quirky explanation. But he now rues his prank after the deadpan humor was lost in the subsequent article. He says, "I had a fly in my hair. I was brushing it away. Someone asked me what was wrong and I said something like, 'I have a frog on my head,' joking. Then I read that I said I had a frog in my hair. What am I supposed to do?"

Austen Society Outraged by "Sexy" New 'Pride & Prejudice'

Jane Austen academics have slammed a sexed-up Hollywood adaptation of classic novel Pride & Prejudice - insisting the movie is "totally inappropriate." The Jane Austen Society in North America, which also berates Keira Knightley's posture and Matthew MacFadyen's looks, have even threatened to cancel a special screening of the film at their annual convention. President Joan Klingel Ray says, "The film is full of sexual imagery which is totally inappropriate to Austen's novel. In one scene, a wild boar, which I assume is supposed to represent Darcy, wobbles through the farm with its sexual equipment on show." However, director Joe Wright is unperturbed by the criticisms: "They can go jump in a lake."

'Desperate Housewives' Flashing Drama

Desperate Housewives star Page Kennedy was reportedly fired from the hit US drama because he loved to flash his naked body at the other stars. Kennedy, who played fugitive Caleb in the second series of the ABC show, was dropped on November 4 after the studio conducted an investigation into allegations against him. A source tells the New York Post, "Kennedy may have had a problem with flashing people on the set."

Radcliffe: "I Will Always Be Potter"

Daniel Radcliffe has dismissed fears continuing as movie wizard Harry Potter will typecast him - insisting he will star in all seven films. The 16-year-old, who has played the wizard since the first movie in 2001, is enjoying himself too much to leave the hit franchise, but intends to prove his versatility in a series of side projects. He says, "Ultimately it comes down to whether we're still enjoying it. If we are then I think we would be sort of stupid not to do them. As long as I'm doing other stuff around the same time, I think it'll be fine. Also, I sort of try to read the books when they come out impartially and not make up my mind, but the fact is when I was reading the sixth, Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince, there were bits in there where I was going, 'God, I would love to do that because it's so good.'"

Clooney the Fairy Godfather

Hollywood star George Clooney is playing fairy godfather to an Italian Family and renovating a house for them to live in. The Ocean's Twelve actor, who has a home in Lake Como, Italy, has developed a good friendship with the family and decided to help them out when some property on his road went on the market. He says, "I'm fixing up a couple of houses next door for a family. They're staying at my place at the moment. They're great cooks. They've got a 12-year-old kid and I want them to have a place where they can bring all their friends."

Jackson Case Should Have Been Mistrial, Book Claims

Pop superstar Michael Jackson's child molestation trial should have been abandoned as a mistrial, according to juror Diane Dimond's new book. In Be Careful Who You Love, which focuses on the June trial, Dimond claims her fellow jury member, Elanor Cook, signed up for a tell-all book deal before a verdict had been decided - which is illegal under Californian law until 90 days after the trial ends. In her expose Dimond also reveals Cook was close friends with a maid at Jackson's Neverland ranch, and gave her legal advice ahead of her prosecution testimony. She tells gossip site PageSix.com, "If the judge had known about her actions, there would have been a mistrial. We had the celebrity spotlight and people were blinded by it."

Reconciled Supermodels Chat on Talk Show

Catwalk icons Naomi Campbell and Tyra Banks have successfully reconciled their long-running feud after the British beauty made a guest appearance Banks's chat show. The model-turned-host invited former rival Campbell onto the show after the pair made up at a New York fashion show last week. But Banks made no secret of the fact that the British beauty was the reason for her dramatic retirement from the industry. She said, "I was tired of having to deal with you. I was tired of constantly hearing that I got cancelled from this job or that, or hearing that this photographer was called, or that magazine was called and (told) not to use me." She also reveals why the pair decided to bury their differences: "Sisterhood is so important to me. I feel like women hate each other - we're jealous, and it has to stop."

Swank To Star Alongside Oscar Rival Staunton

Hilary Swank is set to star alongside her Oscar rival Imelda Staunton in high school drama Freedom Writers. The double Oscar-winner piped Vera Drake star Staunton to the Best Actress Academy Award at this year's ceremony, with her performance in Million Dollar Baby. Swank will take the lead as an English teacher seeking to inspire a class of ethnically diverse students, and Staunton will appear as one of her colleagues. R&B heart-throb Mario will also feature in the big screen adaptation of Erin Gruwell's novel.
