Cruise Recruits Hollywood PR Guru To Replace Sister
Tom Cruise has parted ways with his publicist sister 20 months after giving her the job over his longtime PR Pat Kingsley. Lee Anne DeVette has dealt with her brother's romance with Katie Holmes and his controversial comments about Scientology and psychiatry during her time as his press officer. Cruise has replaced his sister with top Hollywood PR man Paul Bloch, who also serves as co-chairman for publicity powerhouse Rogers & Cowan and represents movie stars John Travolta, Sylvester Stallone, Billy Bob Thornton and David Beckham and Victoria Beckham, among others. However, DeVette will continue to work alongside her brother as the full-time caretaker of his charity work. In a statement, the movie star says, "Lee Anne has done a wonderful job on behalf of me and Cruise-Wagner Productions over the last few years, but she has always expressed a desire to oversee and expand the day-to-day activities of my charitable endeavors." DeVette adds, "I know how important Tom's charitable goals are to him, and I look forward to assisting in raising the profile of the good works that he does on behalf of children's health issues, mentoring, literacy and other social reforms."
Hudson Takes Legal Action Over Photographs
Kate Hudson is taking legal action against five publications which published photographs the actress claims falsely imply she has an eating disorder. The Almost Famous star, 26, is furious over the images which she says suggest her actress mother Goldie Hawn and other close family members are severely worried about her weight. Hudson has enlisted London law firm Schillings, and letters have been sent to British publications the Daily Mail, the National Enquirer, Heat, Closer and Star. A representative for Schillings says, "Ms. Hudson will argue in the courts that the images in question gave a seriously false and misleading impression as to her true physical condition, in that she was portrayed as being dangerously thin with an eating disorder." Lawyers at the firm say an investigation into how the photographs were, taken, sold and published will play a key role.
Aniston Squirms As Larry King Probes Vaughn Romance
Jennifer Aniston found herself in the hot seat during a recent taping of CNN's Larry King Live when the veteran broadcaster relentlessly questioned her about her rumored romance with Vince Vaughn. The Rumor Has It star was on the show, which will air in America tonight, with British actor Clive Owen to promote their new movie Derailed when King turned up the heat. But a squirming Aniston wasn't about to reveal anything. Giggling awkwardly when King started asking about the rumors, Aniston said, "God, I'm getting out of here." And when the inquisitive host refused to let up with his line of questioning, the actress simply repeated the chat show king's words as he said, "Vince Vaughn, we love him," and "He's a national treasure." But when King asked if the romance is serious, smiling Aniston just shook her head and said, "I'm not talking about it, I'm not talking about it... It sounds harsh to say 'it's none of your business' (but) you learn your lessons, that's all."
Taylor Dedicates Her Life to AIDS Charities

Screen icon Dame Elizabeth Taylor made a rare public appearance to open an AIDS research center at the University Of California in Los Angeles Sunday, despite being wheelchair-bound. The 73-year-old has dedicated her life to AIDS charities since turning her back on her acting career in 1994, and Taylor is convinced she has found her true calling now she is away from "artificial" Hollywood. Taylor helped establish the American Foundation For AIDS Research in 1985 and set up the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation in 1991. The two charities have raised a combined $243 million. She says, "Acting to me is now artificial. Seeing people suffer is real. It couldn't be more real. Some people don't like to look at it in the face because it's painful. But if nobody does, then nothing gets done."
Kirstie Dances Off the Pounds

Former Cheers star Kirstie Alley has danced off the pounds on her way to a new figure by hiring Madonna and Usher's choreographers. The one-time heavyweight claims to have lost a whopping 55 pounds dancing with Hollywood teachers Rich & Fly, and she's urging other fatties to don their high heels and take to the dance floor. Alley, who once weighed a whopping 219 pounds says, "I really wanted to celebrate that I've gotten thinner and these guys are just brilliant. They choreograph Usher and J.Lo. I really love doing this. It just makes you feel like you're in a celebration." Alley and her choreographers are now working on a high-energy dance work-out video - and she insists it will encourage fans to look good while they boogie. She explains, "You never see a stripper in flip-flops... and that's because flat-footed looks like ducks and flat-footed doesn't make people feel sexy." Meanwhile, the actress aims to lose another 25-35 pounds.

The singer and the Oscar winner split in September after just four months of marriage, but he's delighted he had the chance to experience true love. He says, "She and I fell in love like a couple of schoolkids. I'm glad to know that can happen, that that exists and we still really care about each other. It would've been a bad thing if I hadn't met (her). She's wonderful. I don't want to sit here and go, 'Poor me.' I am totally blessed, and I'm grateful for it (romance)."
Britney's Man Escapes Child Custody Payments
Britney Spears former love rival Shar Jackson won't be approaching her ex, the pop star's husband Kevin Federline, for child support because she just wants him to spend time with their kids. Still bitter towards her ex for the way he treated her when he started dating Britney, Jackson tells US urban magazine Sister To Sister she won't be fighting for Federline's cash. She says, "I am a very, very independent woman. If I wanted child support that's an easy procedure. All I want from Kevin is his time with his children. That's it, bottom line." She tells the publication, "How do you call yourself a human being knowing that you put somebody else through that pain?"
Downey Jr. Felt Like a Drowning Mouse

Former Hollywood badboy Robert Downey, Jr. has likened his struggle with alcohol and drug addiction to being a mouse drowning in a fish-tank. The Chaplin star is celebrating 12 months of sobriety after years of substance abuse, two stints in jail and a shattered public image, but will never forget the feeling of helplessness he experienced during his troubled years. He says, "So why can't I get out of my way? It's because you come to believe that it's a hopeless situation. It's like you take a mouse, and you put him in a fish-tank and fill it with water. The mouse swims to survive but sooner or later he gets tired and falls to the bottom. You do that 20 times, and eventually the mouse just falls straight to the bottom. He's thinking, 'To hell with it - I don't want to swim for 10 minutes, it doesn't matter, I'm falling anyway.' And that's what it's been like for me."

Madonna tells website The Scoop, "People like Paris Hilton come into a centre and buy a book or a band and that's it for them. It doesn't mean they study it. It's very hard to be a believer. I'm very serious about it."
