Lachey Fights Cheating Reports

Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey are fighting reports the pop hunk seduced a college student last month - just days after being forced to deny they're heading for divorce. The pop couple have been hitting out at speculation over the state of their marriage for much of the year, and now Ohio State student Danielle Calo, 19, has added more fuel to the fire. The brunette beauty tells America's Star magazine that after meeting with Lachey at a high school football game in Columbus, Ohio, on September 9, she was invited back to the star's hotel room, where he told her she was "really hot" before making a move on her. She says, "He was a really good kisser, soft and gentle even though he was using his tongue to French kiss me. His eyes are so beautiful, too, and he kept staring at me, just like at the football game. We kissed for a long time; Nick would occasionally rub my thigh very lightly. I knew the opportunity to do more was there, but a part of me kept thinking that he's very married, so I was uncomfortable about doing anything else - and I told him so. From that point on, Nick never forced anything, and we never went into his bedroom. He called me briefly on Saturday, but nothing came of it. We haven't spoken since." While a representative for Lachey insists, "This story is completely untrue." The publication claims to have put Calo through a polygraph test - which she passed.

Police Turn the Heat on Lindsay's Crash "Victim"

Los Angeles police are considering charging motorist Raymundo Ortega for making an illegal u-turn and causing the crash that sent Lindsay Lohan to hospital. Lohan ploughed her Mercedes Benz into Ortega's maroon van on Beverly Hills street Robertson Boulevard on Tuesday. Early reports suggested the actress/singer was speeding to avoid the paparazzi, but now police have turned the heat on Ortega, who was looking for a parking space when he was hit. However, the injured van driver insists he isn't to blame and Lohan should face charges for speeding. Speaking exclusively to TV news show Access Hollywood, he says, "She was driving really fast. She had to be going at least 75 miles an hour... She came out of nowhere; all she needed was wings for the car to fly." And now the driver, who depended on his vehicle for work, fears he'll be left destitute. He adds, "I'm a father of six kids and I depend on my job. I don't have my car because it's a luxury item. I have it because I need it, and now I'm left on foot walking without a car." Police insist Ortega's claims that Lohan was speeding are inaccurate - their investigation has revealed she was going no faster than 35 miles per hour.

Bratt and Wife Have Baby Boy

Hollywood actor and E-Ring star Benjamin Bratt is celebrating the birth of his second child after his wife Talisa Soto gave birth to a Baby Boy on Monday. Mateo Bravery Bratt was born in Los Angeles, weighing seven pounds, seven ounces. Both mother and son are doing well, according to publicist Craig Bankey. The Pinero co-stars already have a daughter together, Sophia Rosalinda Bratt, born in December 2002.

Travolta and Preston Suggest a "Silent Birth" to Katie

Scientology couple John Travolta and Kelly Preston are urging Katie Holmes to have a 'silent birth' when she delivers fiance Tom Cruise's baby next year and follow the church's strict doctrines. Scientologists believe children should be brought into the world without any fuss and be allowed to quietly get used to their surroundings. That means no music, no chatting and no expressions of pain from the mother. Preston explains, "It's just because everything in moments of pain is really recorded and you want to have that (the birth) peaceful and clear of sort of suggestions or different words that can then affect them (babies) in their future."

Latsis: "It Was Paris' Decision"

Socialite Paris Hilton's ex-fiance Paris Latsis has praised the hotel heiress for deciding to end their four-month engagement. Reality TV star Hilton, 24, and Greek shipping heir Latsis, 22, became engaged in May after a five month courtship and spent the summer in Europe hunting for wedding venues. However, in the past few weeks Hilton realized the couple were too young and released a statement over the weekend confirming the nuptials were canceled. In response to Hilton's statement, shy Latsis has stepped forward to praise The Simple Life star for her decision. He says, "She is the most incredible woman I have ever met in my life. I respect her decision and appreciate the very kind and generous manner in which she is handling her very difficult decision. This was the best experience of my life and I will always be grateful for it."

Miller: "The Paparazzi Make Me Question My Career"

Sienna Miller has become so terrified of the British paparazzi she is considering turning her back on acting. The Alfie actress became a prime target for photographers when her partner Jude Law's infidelity grabbed newspaper headlines in July. And, even though Miller has forgiven the Closer star, she is still struggling to cope with the constant invasions of her privacy. The 23-year-old says, "London is getting worse and worse. What I have most of the time is me running down the street in pitch black with eight grown men sprinting after me. The way it has been for a while now... it's reaching a level where it's actually not worth it to be an actress. I love my work, but I can't live my life like that."

Clooney Goes Serious

Film hunk George Clooney is abandoning comedy to concentrate on serious and political movies After making his Hollywood name playing suave lotharios and conmen in lighthearted movies, Clooney is keen to show a more serious side to his acting abilities. New movies Syriana, about the Cold War, and Good Night, And Good Luck, about a journalist's attempt to bring down Senator Joe McCarthy, signal the start of Clooney's new outlook. He says, "I'm working on projects that I want to raise a debate about. I'm interested in films of the 1960s and 1970s that were political. They were born out of the civil rights, Vietnam war, and women's rights movements. I feel it's a good time to have the entertainment community start asking questions again."

Foxx Relieved To Leave Racist South

Oscar-winner Jamie Foxx is relieved to be living in multi-cultural Los Angeles, after growing up surrounded by racist bullies in Texas. The Ray star claims racism is prevalent in the southern states of America and believes nothing has changed since his teenage years in the 1980s. Foxx tells Playboy magazine, "There are certain aspects of racism that I couldn't deal with then and I don't have to now. Like going to the other side of the tracks and getting called a n**ger every day. 'Hey, n**ger, get out of here. Get out of here, you little monkey, you little n**ger'. To have my friends get death threats and things like that because we were popular in school. I'm not the type to forgive that. It's the same (now). You're dealing with the South, and it's hard to change tradition."

Danza Slams Cruise

Former Taxi star Tony Danza is far from impressed with Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' baby news - because they're having a child out of wedlock. The Hollywood couple, who became engaged in June after two months of dating, announced they're expecting their first child together on Wednesday. Danza is bemused by Cruise's behavior and believes his recent attack on Brooke Shields' decision to take medication for her postpartum depression was hypocritical considering the Mission: Impossible star is now living his own life with questionable morality. The talk show host says, "I'm a little upset about this. Here's a guy out there lecturing people about drugs, but out of wedlock births don't seem to bother him. He's never (appearing on) my show, so it doesn't matter." He adds, "I'm happy for them, but we're going to send them to Maury Povich's show for a DNA test."

Aniston: "Silence During Break-Up Was Like Being Gagged"

Jennifer Aniston struggled to keep quiet during the break-up of her marriage to Brad Pitt, because talking is her therapy. The Rumor Has It star, whose divorce from Pitt was finalized last weekend, would normally have wanted to share her feelings, but was obliged not to say too much about what was happening in order to keep her personal life private. Aniston, 36, says, "It's so hard, it's almost the impossible - not talking about anything. I don't abide well to gag orders. I'm a talker. I think it's a beautiful trait when people are not micro-managing every corner of their life. But there is a boundary. I've learned my lessons throughout the years on when that line gets crossed and how that can be used against you and can backfire."
