Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are expecting their first child together according to publication People Magazine. The couple have enjoyed a whirlwind romance since they began dating in April and became engaged in June. Mission: Impossible star Cruise already has two adopted children, Isabella, 12, and ten-year-old Connor, with his ex-wife Nicole Kidman. Cruise's spokesperson Lee Anne Devette reportedly confirmed the happy announcement saying, "Tom and Katie are very excited, and the entire family is very excited."

Reality TV couple Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey are desperately fighting fresh reports that their marriage is over, after The Dukes Of Hazzard actress turned up solo and without her wedding ring to two recent events. The couple's marriage has been at the centre of speculation for months, but the pop stars have stood firm with rebuttals. But, now America's Us Weekly insists the couple have split. In a joint statement on behalf of the Lacheys, a representative says. "Nick and Jessica have not separated. Rumors to the contrary are simply not true." The pair were last seen together publicly on September 11 when they sang a duet at an American football game. According to the magazine, rumors of a split started to circulate again when Jessica arrived solo at her sister Ashlee's 21st birthday in Las Vegas, Nevada at the weekend. If the top couple are due to celebrate their third wedding anniversary on October 26.

Authorities investigating Lindsay Lohan's car smash have ruled that the paparazzi played no role in the accident, as was initially claimed by the actress' spokesperson. The 19-year-old Mean Girls star and another female passenger sustained minor injuries on Tuesday, after her black Mercedes-Benz convertible collided with a van on a busy West Hollywood street. The accident was caused when the driver of the van made a U-turn in front of Lohan, according to Steve Whitmore, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department. Whitmore says, "She happens to be an innocent victim in all of this. The paparazzi, as far as we can tell, have nothing to do in terms of the accident." The driver of the van may be cited for making an illegal U-turn, according to Whitmore. After the actress' crash, her representative Leslie Sloane stated, "This is another example of the paparazzi endangering citizens, both Ms. Lohan and the other driver in the collision." But TV reporter Victoria Recano, who was filming nearby, says, "There was no one following her. She was going pretty fast on Robertson (Boulevard)."

I Know What You Did Last Summer star Freddie Prinze Jr. woke with a cracked rib yesterday morning - and he has no idea how it happened. The Hollywood actor is currently in New York City promoting his upcoming sitcom Freddie, and he was taken aback when he struggled to get out of bed this morning because he was in such dire pain. He says, "I have a cracked rib... I don't even know how it happened. I woke up and I just couldn't breathe." The actor, married to Sarah Michelle Gellar, costars in his new ABC sitcom with Madchen Amick.

Hollywood star Jennifer Aniston has reconciled with her mother Nancy, nine years after they became estranged. The former Friends actress stopped speaking to Nancy after she discussed her famous daughter on a TV chat show in 1996 and subsequently wrote about Jennifer's childhood in From Mother And Daughter To Friends in 1999. Nancy brought up Jennifer alone after her actor father, Days Of Our Lives star John Aniston walked out on their marriage when Jennifer was nine. However, in the aftermath of Jennifer's high-profile split from ex-husband Brad Pitt, she is beginning to rebuild her relationship with her mom. Jennifer tells Elle magazine, "I'm thrilled. It's so wonderful. And who knew that this (divorce) would be the thing to initiate this? It's amazing. It's like we get to reintroduce ourselves to each other. I'm just happy she's still here. I'm not saying that there weren't issues that took place that led to this. But I really see now whether it was judging her on how she handled her separation or her situation, but they didn't have the advantages that we have with therapy, with self-help books."

TV hunk Matthew Fox is reassuring his Lost cast mates they will soon see financial rewards from starring in the hit show, after a handful of the actors complained they do not receive enough recognition. Some unnamed cast members of the desert island drama are unhappy to hear about the bonuses and gifts lavished on the stars of Desperate Housewives, which is broadcast on the same TV network, ABC. However, Fox is sure the Lost actors will soon be championed at the same level as Teri Hatcher, Marcia Cross and their fellow Housewives, especially after Lost was named Outstanding Drama Series at last month's Emmys. He says, "The difference between how ABC has treated has treated Lost and Desperate Housewives has been night and day. There's a perception among the guys that we are busting out a*ses on the island and we weren't getting a lot of recognition for that. I've just told the cast to keep their heads down, stay positive and it will all work out in the end."

Joaquin Phoenix developed an alcohol dependency while filming his role as Johnny Cash in the new movie biopic Walk The Line. Country singer Cash, who was a renowned drinker, prompted actor Phoenix into increasing his alcohol intake for a better portrayal of the character. Gladiator star Phoenix, 30, realized his problem was getting out of control and in April checked himself into a rehab clinic when filming was over. He tells London magazine Time Out, "It was then that I became aware of my drinking. I wasn't an everyday drinker but didn't have anything else to do, anything to hold me down. I was leaning on alcohol to make me feel ok. That's what it really was."

Monster star Charlize Theron found the best way of coping with the stress of playing a sexually harassed character in her new film was to pester all the men on set. In her new movie North Country, the Oscar winner plays a struggling single mother who has to endure endless insults and assault from her male colleagues. Theron says, "On breaks between filming, I would get my own back by sexually harassing all the men on the set. It was quite a laugh and I think they quite enjoyed it. In fact my co-star Woody Harrelson came in one time on his day off and when I asked him why, he replied, 'I've come in for my sexual harassment!'"

Actor Jason Biggs has hinted there may be a fourth installment of the American Pie movies, but not for a few years. Biggs, who played sexually naive Jim Levenstein in the three comedies - American Pie, American Pie 2 and American Wedding, reveals producers have already discussed the idea of an American Baby. Biggs tells movie magazine Empire, "It didn't happen. Which is right because it would have been too soon. I think it'd be fun to see how those characters had matured ten years down the line, a kind of Big Chill' for our generation' kind of thing." But the actor, whose character married 'band camp geek' Michelle in the last sequel, has more realistic plans for a plot. He adds, "Let's get real, American Divorce is a more likely scenario."

Newly-single actress Jennifer Aniston has laughed off reports she is dating 7th Heaven heart-throb Geoff Stults. America's Star magazine claims the star of the upcoming Derailed and Rumor Has It is "mad for Geoff" and "head over heels", after being introduced by Stults' Wedding Crashers co-star Vince Vaughn. However, Aniston's representative says, "She barely knows him".
