Reese Witherspoon in Paparazzi Attack
Reese Witherspoon has become the latest star caught up in an alleged paparazzi attack after one photographer assaulted two men while attempting to photograph the actress and her kids. The Legally Blonde star was enjoying a day out at Disney's California Adventure theme park in Anaheim on Friday when she was confronted with an "aggressive and frightening" photographer. As park employees attempted to move Witherspoon to a safer area, the snapper allegedly assaulted two park employees, prompting security to call the police. The photographer, Todd Wallace, was cited for two misdemeanor counts of assault and battery and will appear in court next month. Witherspoon recently lost a court battle with a group of paparazzi she claimed "besieged" her in April. The actress alleged false imprisonment claiming photographers blocked her car, so she couldn't drive off after working out at a Los Angeles gym.
Oprah Calls on Famous Friends To Help Hurricane Victims
Oprah Winfrey has enlisted famous friends including Oscar winners Julia Roberts and Jamie Foxx to help her bring hope to those devastated by Hurricane Katrina. The TV talkshow queen cut short her summer break last weekend to host shows from America's storm-ravaged Gulf region, where people are desperately trying to piece their lives back together. And she took a few famous faces with her - Foxx helped serve up food to 5,000 hurricane victims in a shelter in Dallas, Texas, while Matthew McConaughey and Faith Hill brought joy to survivors in Zachary, Louisiana, and Gulfport, Mississippi respectively in a show that aired in America yesterday. Meanwhile, Winfrey's pals John Travolta, Lisa Marie Presley and Chris Rock joined Roberts for segments taped for today's show. Travolta piloted his private plane to shelters in the southeast, delivering much needed vaccines and helping to replenish medical supplies. A tearful Winfrey hosted yesterday's show from the Astrodome in Houston, Texas, where thousands of hurricane survivors are seeking temporary refuge and medical help.
Crow To Marry Armstrong

Singer Sheryl Crow and cycling legend Lance Armstrong are engaged. The couple made the announcement on Monday following Armstrong's proposal during a visit to Sun Valley, Idaho, last week. No date has been set for the wedding, but a spokesperson for the seven-time Tour De France champion hinted the happy couple are considering exchanging vows next spring. Armstrong and Crow met in 2003 - Armstrong has three children from his first marriage but it will be Crow's first time down the aisle.
Stars Support West's Outburst
Jay-Z, Sean 'Diddy' Combs and Matt Damon are among a host of stars who have applauded Kanye West for his public attack on Us President George W. Bush on Friday. During an appearance on A Concert For Hurricane Relief - a live telethon broadcast across America - West broke away from his script to voice his disgust at the media's portrayal of the Gulf Region's African-Americans and to slam the slow delivery of aid. But the biggest stir of all came when West boldly declared, "George Bush doesn't care about black people." West's Def Jam colleague Jay-Z says, "I'm backing Kanye 100 per cent. This is America. You should be able to say what you want to say. We have freedom of speech. (The slow response to the disaster) is really numbing. You can't believe it's happening in America. You wonder, what's going on? Why were people so slow to react? I don't understand it." Combs notes, "I think he spoke from his heart. He spoke what a lot of people feel... It ain't adding up, man. It's not making sense. If the reporters can get there and you all can get there with microphones, somebody should be able to get there with food." Damon adds, "This guy with his moment on live television made a statement that hopefully now Bush will come out and address, because he doesn't have to address anything else... The White House Press Corp, they should all have their credentials taken away. Not one of them's an honest journalist. Not one of them asked a question of the guy." Meanwhile, actress Susan Sarandon has a slightly different take on West's comments: "I don't think that's an original thought, but it's probably true."
Farrell and Hilton Sell Themselves for Hurricane Victims
Colin Farrell helped raise $20,000 at an auction to aid the victims of Hurricane Katrina - by selling himself on Friday. Miami Vice co-star Jamie Foxx took bids for a date with Farrell and when nervous women weren't forthcoming at the Delano Hotel charity bash in Miami Beach, Florida, decided to ask for group bids. One bunch of 10 friends bid $10,000 for a date with the Irishman, while another woman doubled the bid for her own one-night stand. And generous Farrell helped boost the fund too - he paid $50,000 for a portrait of Ray Charles. Meanwhile, fellow human auction item Paris Hilton was brought to tears when one fan bid $200,000 to spend New Year's Eve with the socialite. She said, "It's so generous. I'm crying right now."
'Desperate Housewives' Creator Rule Out Star Guests
Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry refuses to let the hit TV program become another Friends or Will & Grace by allowing guest appearances from celebrities. The popular show, which won two Golden Globe awards earlier this year, will keep its format unchanged for the second season, despite rival sitcoms boasting big names like Jennifer Lopez, Demi Moore and Madonna. And sexy star Eva Longoria, who plays adulterous trophy wife Gabrielle Solis, is glad Wisteria Lane will be kept celebrity-free. She says, "If we had Britney Spears playing a neighbor, the viewers would be like, 'That's Britney Spears playing a neighbor!' Marc really chooses the best actor for the job."
Spears Laughs Off Vegas Show Reports

Pregnant pop star Britney Spears has laughed off reports she has signed up for a long-term Las Vegas concert contract, insisting she is devoting her time to raising her unborn child and preparing her next album. The singer and husband Kevin Federline are eagerly awaiting the birth of their first child this month, and Spears performing again is the last thing on their minds. Recent reports suggest Spears had been in talks with Vegas deal-maker Jack Wishna with plans to signs up to a long-term performing contract similar to the ones held by Celine Dion and Sir Elton John. However, a spokesperson for Spears tells PageSix.com, "Not true, there is no Vegas show in the works."
Fatherhood Prompts Affleck To Ditch Parties
Ben Affleck has ditched Hollywood parties for a more serene life since his wife Jennifer Garner became pregnant, according to his director pal Kevin Smith. Daredevil co-stars Affleck and Garner, who wed at the end of June, after expecting the arrival of their first child together this winter. And while Affleck has been notably absent from his beloved poker tables, he's also become less of a fixture at Tinseltown gatherings. Smith says, "He seems to have settled down, regardless. He hasn't been a party guy for a little while now. I think it's phenomenal. I think he'll be a fantastic dad. When we were working on Jersey Girl, we had a lot of babies on our set, and he was always really great with them. I think most guys are like me - they tend to shy away from other people's kids because you never want to be the a*s that drops somebody's baby. He was fearless. He would scoop them up and throw them into the air."
McCormack Looking Forward To Leaving Will Behind
Will & Grace star Eric McCormack is determined to move on from the hit sitcom to star on the big-screen, because he doesn't want to be typecast as gay. The 42-year-old actor shot to fame in the hit comedy - and has starred as camp Manhattan lawyer Will Truman since the show began in 1998. But when the final series comes to an end next year, the Canadian is hunting for roles which will change movie-maker's perceptions of his sexuality - and is already planning to star in and direct his own romantic comedy. He says, "Television fame makes people say, 'That's who that guy is. That's the way he is.' Now I have to say, 'Look, I'm lots of other guys, too.'"
Dion Slams US Authorities Over Katrina Response

Canadian singer Celine Dion has launched a scathing attack on US President George W. Bush's Iraq policy, while criticizing his country's slow response to the southern states devastated by last week's Hurricane Katrina. Dion, who has donated $1 million to victims of the storm, grew visibly emotional as she told of her frustration watching tens of thousands of survivors wait days for aid on CNN's Larry King Live show on Saturday. The hitmaker fumed, "I open (sic) the television, there's people still there, waiting to be rescued, and for me it's not acceptable. I know there's reasons for it, I'm sorry to say, I'm being rude, but I don't want to hear those reasons." Dion criticized authorities for arresting looters in New Orleans, Louisiana, saying they should make rescuing the stranded victims a priority. She said, "Oh, they're stealing 20 pair of jeans or they're stealing television sets. Who cares? They're not going to go too far with it. Maybe those people are so poor, some of the people who do that they're so poor they've never touched anything in their lives. Let them touch those things for once." Dion referred to Bush's controversial war in Iraq, saying, "How come it's so easy to send planes in another country to kill everyone in a second, to destroy lives? We need to be there right now to rescue the rest of the people."
