Carey Caught Up in Mystery Blaze
Mariah Carey almost never made it to the MTV Video Music Awards in Miami, Florida on Sunday night after she was caught up in a fire emergency in her Hollywood home just days before. Firemen reportedly had to wake the sleeping Carey and alert her to the seriousness of the situation after neighbors called to report a small blaze at the pop star's Bel Air home on August 24. Fortunately for her, the fire was quickly extinguished and damage was minimal. A spokesman for the singer confirms, "There was a small fire... in the Los Angeles home that Mariah Carey is currently renting. Mariah was never in harm's way... No one was hurt."
Barrymore Clashes with Family at Baseball Game

Actress Drew Barrymore has slammed reports she was thrown out of a baseball game following her rude and drunken behavior to a family recently, claiming the group in questioning were repeatedly photographing her. The Charlie's Angels star, her rocker boyfriend Fabrizio Moretti and a group of friends were watching a New York Mets game in a luxury box at the Shea Stadium in Queens, New York City, when the family in the next box began taking photos of her. Despite Barrymore's claims the family were disturbing her, the family allege the actress burst into their box and shouted at one of their group. Michael Delvecchio tells PageSix.com, "She was drinking and smoking like a chimney, so we asked the security guard to tell her to put out her cigarette because there were young children present, but she just kept on doing it. "Suddenly she stormed into our suite with a lit cigarette and berated one of my friends in front of his young daughter for taking a picture of her. Thankfully, one of the stadium staff kicked her out of our box." However, Barrymore responds, "The family making this claim were constantly taking pictures of me. And I politely asked them to stop, so that the people I was with would not be bothered. "And now they are making claims about my behavior, which is outrageous. This family obviously has a chip on their shoulder and another thought should not be wasted on this."

Adamson Stays True to Classic 'Narnia'

Director Andrew Adamson is determined to keep his screen version of The Chronicles of Narnia as close to C.S. Lewis' original books as possible - as he grew up with the classic tales. The Shrek film-maker was terrified producers Walden Media, co-producing with Disney, would have a radical new take on the enchanting saga, but luckily they had exactly the same idea. He says, "The books were very important to me as child. I was worried they'd try to modernize it. When I finally agreed to meet them they said they wanted to be really faithful, too."
Jolie to Take Legal Action
Tomb Raider star Angelina Jolie is poised to sue a British tabloid newspaper over reports her adopted daughter Zahara Marley is not an orphan. British newspaper The Sun last week published an interview with 18-year-old Mentewab Dawit who claimed to be the baby's natural mother. Dawit said she loved the baby but was forced to have her adopted when she couldn't afford to feed her. But the actress, who already has one adopted son Maddox, four, insists Zahara's mother is dead and has consulted London based solicitors, Schillings. Jolie's solicitor confirms, "I've not yet been issued with instructions to commence legal actions. But I am speaking to her again this afternoon." A spokesman for The Sun says, "We have not been notified of any legal action against us and we stand by the story absolutely."
Boozing Delaney Loses Custody of Her Son

Former NYPD Blue star Kim Delaney has lost custody of her teenage son after he testified in a Santa Monica, California, court that she was endangering his life by drink-driving. Jack Cortese, 15, told the court that his mother embarrassed him when she turned up drunk at a friend's house and then insisted that he came home with her. The teen said, "I attempted to keep her from driving her car, but she was very demanding. "My mother demanded that my friend go with us. He refused to drive with her because she was drunk. "Unfortunately this is not the only incident in which I have seen my mother drunk." Cortese, who is now living with Delaney's ex-husband Joe Cortese, claimed he hadn't seen his mom since August 11 and is keen to keep his distance. He added, "I do not want to be with her until she has completed rehab and is sober. I am very concerned for my safety when I am with her." The actress' alcohol problems were highlighted three years ago when she was arrested for drink-driving.
Vivica Blasts Talk Show Host
Kill Bill beauty Vivica A. Fox informed comedian Jimmy Kimmel he'd get his "a*s kicked" on Tuesday night, after he made fun of one of her close pals on his chat show. On his late-night show, Jimmy Kimmel Live has long poked fun at U.S. TV personality Star Jones Reynolds' weight and November marriage to investment banker Al Reynolds. And Fox, who served as a bridesmaid at the New York nuptials, was particularly disgusted when Kimmel continued his tirade of jokes at her pal's expense once she arrived on the stage. After greeting Kimmel's jokes about Jones Reynolds with frosty silence, the comedian noted, "We're off to a bad start... Maybe this will be on one of those DVDs 20 years from now. Great uncomfortable moments." Fox, ex-girlfriend of 50 Cent, responded, "We usually have really great comical moments, but that's my friend and I love her... It's not funny to me, so let's start over." But things failed to improve - when Kimmel suggested that he, Fox, Jones Reynolds and her husband get together, she responded, "You would get your a*s kicked... I would have to take off my shoe and beat you down, brother!" The interview ended soon afterwards.
Cox Rages Over Anorexia Claims

Actress Courteney Cox has slammed rumors she suffers from an eating disorder, insisting she has simply found her optimum weight. Critics feared the former Friends star's bony physique would spark a craze for anorexia among young girls, but Cox fumes that she has been used as a scapegoat for rise in food-related illnesses. She says, "If I like myself a certain way, I shouldn't have to feel like I'm responsible for anorexia across the country. "I have never had any control over what anyone does, in any capacity. If I like myself at this weight, this is what I'm going to be. "I don't have an eating disorder. I remember one magazine said: 'Courteney Cox Talks About Her Bulimia.' I didn't even say a word."
Damon's Girlfriend Rushed to Hospital
Hollywood star Matt Damon's girlfriend Luciana Barroso was rushed to a New York City hospital on Sunday, after she was struck down with food poisoning. The pretty Floridian is currently staying with her boyfriend of 16 months in New York as he films The Good Shepherd with Robert De Niro, Alec Baldwin and Angelina Jolie. On Sunday, Damon was seen comforting an ailing Barroso as she sought treatment at St Vincent's Hospital in Manhattan, according to PageSix.com. The Ocean's Twelve star's spokeswoman confirms, "She had food poisoning and got really dehydrated because of that."
Linney's Ghostly Encounter

Actress Laura Linney was forced to review her disbelief in ghosts when she saw a spectre at New York's Belasco Theater. The play house is famously haunted, but skeptic Linney felt sure she wouldn't come across a spirit - because she wasn't open to the idea. She says, "I was doing a play called Honor and the theatre is notoriously haunted. I heard about the legends of it for years, being a theatre person. The ghosts usually show up when the play is about to open and sure enough, we were doing a final run-through and I looked up and there in the upper balcony, which is a balcony that you can have no access to because it's locked from the street, I saw a woman standing at the balcony. She was at the edge of the balcony in a baby blue satin dress and blonde crimped hair. It didn't scare me. I just saw her there and I just thought, 'Hello,' and then I turned and said a line to my co-star, and then I looked up and the ghost was gone." A few days after her "little invitation", Linney took the story to the theatre manager, who filled her in with the place's dark past. She adds, "He told me that the electric guys will not go in the basement. The deceased theatre owner, David Belasco, supposedly shows up along with this one woman. So, I believe in ghosts now. I've experienced that."
