Richie and Hilton to Battle at the Box Office

Aspiring actresses and feuding friends Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie are set to do battle at the box office in November - they both star in films which will be released on the same day. Movie-maker Andrew Shaifer, who produced and wrote Richie's debut film Kids in America, has accused the team behind Hilton's Pledge This! of purposefully synchronizing the release date clash to generate publicity. The Simple Life reality TV co-stars mysteriously fell out in January and have refused to divulge the reason behind their rift, with Hilton saying, "All I will say is that Nicole knows what she did and that's all I am ever going to say about it." Shaifer, who arranged his film's release date in April, says, "It was just announced that Paris's movie will open the same day. It is obvious something is going on. My feeling is this was done on purpose." Despite his anger over the date clash, Shaifer tells gossip website PageSix.com he is confident in Richie's big screen abilities after seeing Hilton's acting attempt in horror remake House of Wax earlier this year . He boasts, "Either way, I am glad we have Nicole in our movie. After seeing House of Wax, we obviously got the better actress. I want to put Nicole in another movie. I have specifically written a role with her in mind - she is that talented." However, Hilton's representative responds, "Andrew must be mistaken. There is no official release date yet."
Jen Says No to 'Friends' Reunion Show
Jennifer Aniston has reportedly pulled out of a Friends reunion show because she wants to distance herself from her beloved sitcom character Rachel Green. According to SkyNews.com, the cast of the sitcom have signed on to appear in an upcoming documentary about the show, but Aniston won't appear on the televised get together. A source says, "All the cast members are up for a documentary based on the show, which would have featured exclusive interviews with the cast, except Jennifer Aniston. Rumor is she is still too distraught about the split from Brad Pitt, while others cite the fact that she wants to move away from her Rachel image for good."
Wahlberg Will Quit Acting at 40
Mark Wahlberg will quit acting when he hits 40 so he can concentrate on raising his daughter. The 34-year-old is devoted to two-year-old Ella Rae - his daughter with girlfriend Rhea Durham - and wants to dedicate the next six years to making enough money so he never has to work again. He says, "She's a much bigger responsibility than anything I have going. That's why now it's so important that my movies make money. "I want to work hard for the next six years, then put all the emphasis on family. I'd be disappointed if (later on) I'd have to work to provide for my family. That would be a failure. I don't want much. I just want to wake up when I feel like it, go to my little girl's soccer games, and make sure she has whatever she wants." And he isn't concerned about abandoning a successful movie career: "I've always looked at my career as an athlete would look at his. I won't play forever. Some don't know when to walk away, but the smart ones do."
Johansson Shocks Bay with Naked Request

Director Michael Bay was horrified when actress Scarlett Johansson insisted on going topless for a love scene in new movie The Island - because the romance is rated PG-13. The 20-year-old beauty called Bay to her trailer and angrily refused to wear an unflattering black bra for her love scene with co-star Ewan McGregor. But Bay had difficulty persuading Johansson not to do the scene naked. He tells movie magazine Empire, "You know the situation - the famous director gets called to the actor's trailer before she does the love scene. I'm like, here we go. I'm ready to do Ewan and Scarlett's love scene. I'm like, 'Oh my God, she's not going to come out.' She says, 'I'm not f**king wearing this cheap-ass black bra, okay? I'm going naked.' I'm like, 'Scarlett, you can't go naked. It's a PG-13.' Classic story, She's feisty, I must say."
Hatcher Offers Life Lessons in Book
Desperate Housewives star Teri Hatcher is offering advice and inspiration to her female fans in a new book she plans to release next year. The 40-year-old brunette beauty, who has been enjoying a resurgence in popularity since the debut of her acclaimed TV show, plans to share a few life lessons in Burnt Toast, which is scheduled to be published in the spring. She says in a statement, "I have had many women approach me, sharing their own stories, and ask me how it feels to have a second chance at 40. With this book, I truly hope to reach everyone that I don't bump into on the street and share my story."
Campbell Sued for Assaulting Model in Dress Row
Naomi Campbell is being sued by her actress friend Yvonne Scio, who called police last night claiming the supermodel had punched and kicked her for wearing a similar dress. Scio told police she was rushed to hospital with a split lip and severe bruising, after the catwalk beauty violently attacked her at the Eden Hotel in Rome, Italy. And the Italian-American film star is filing a lawsuit against Campbell, her friend of 12 years, claiming she is bed-ridden and will be out of work until she has recovered from her serious injuries. Scio's lawyer Annamaria Bernardini De Pace says, "This will be going to court and Naomi will have to appear. This was a completely unprovoked attack of violence by Naomi. Yvonne is in bed in a lot of pain. Her face is in a terrible way. She lost a lot of blood. She is an actress so she will not be able to work for a while. We will also be looking for loss of earnings." Officer Domenico Condello adds, "I can confirm that an allegation of assault has been made. Ms. Scio came to the police station with cuts to her lip. She said that Naomi had insulted her and attacked her over some clothes she was wearing. We have taken a full statement from Ms. Scio and we will be checking her claims with Naomi Campbell." But a spokesperson for Campbell counters, "Naomi has been mistakenly dragged into a potential drama in Rome after an 'actress' and long-term acquaintance, Yvonne Scio made claims about a dispute. Naomi made it clear there had been 'a disagreement' in which she told Miss Scio that she was 'very disappointed a her behavior and that she should go now'."
Rogers: 'Cruise's Proposal to Me Was Less Romantic'

Actress Mimi Rogers was surprised her ex-husband Tom Cruise proposed to his fiancee Katie Holmes at the top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France because he wasn't so romantic when he asked her to marry him. Rogers, who was the actor's first wife in the 1980s before he married and subsequently divorced Nicole Kidman, remembers the moment Cruise suggested she become his wife as being nothing out of the ordinary. She says, "He's always been a very intense guy who is openly passionate about some things. But we didn't go through that very public courtship stage. He proposed to Katie while they were up the Eiffel Tower, but with me he didn't do anything dashing, like going down on one knee. It just, well, it just sort of happened."
Lowe: 'Clinton Pitched 'West Wing' Ideas'

Hollywood actor Rob Lowe remembers his time on hit TV drama The West Wing fondly, because former U.S. President Bill Clinton often pitched plot ideas to him. Lowe, who worked on the show about a fictional U.S. president for four years starting in 1999, was amazed he ended up discussing possible ways to take The West Wing forward with the real-life leader. He says, "I'd find myself in situations, shooting in Washington, where they'd say, '(Secretary Of State) Madeleine Albright is coming down, can you wait to see her?' Or I'd be in the Oval Office with President Clinton and he'd be pitching story ideas! It was literally surreal."
